Breaking:

Contract negotiations between Jim Harbaugh and Michigan now hinge upon the Harbaugh Family Cattle Ranch being launched outside of Ortonville, MI.

Sources say that Harbaugh insists upon only producing whole milk and Angus flank steaks, while Michigan prefers 2% and T-bones.

Neither side is budging, and Michigan has reached out to Wisconsin’s Athletic Director to help mediate the dispute. Wisconsin has suggested that the Harbaugh Family Cattle Ranch also produce cheese, a non-starter to both Harbaugh and Michigan.

Since Harbaugh isn't really about the money - can't we just get Ross to commit whatever he would pay (say $10 million/year) to NIL for players instead? Seems like that would go farther to getting Harbaugh to stick around than just throwing money at him.

I mean that's great and all, and don't get me wrong, we should take all the help in keeping him that we can get. But Harbaugh has said repeatedly that this isn't about money. If it was about money, he probably would not have given all his bonus money away to the AD employees two years ago.

I think he just wants to know that Warde, Santa, and the regents all unequivocally stand behind him and will provide him what he needs to keep winning. I'm sure he has that commitment from Santa in spades, but I'm unsure about the other two.

I'm not saying they're not behind him. I'm just saying I don't research the situation enough to know if there are true stragglers among those two groups. But if there are, then shame on them. If a national title isn't enough to want to keep Harbaugh around, then this university truly doesn't deserve him anymore.

There may be stragglers but what if, as "reported" by Mike Rosenberg the other day (don't neg me I'm only the messenger), Jim wants it in his contract that if the NCAA penalizes him/the program any further based on information they already have that Michigan can't fire him for cause?

It's an interesting dilemma--but to my eye a perfectly reasonable request on Harbaugh's part (if true). And if Michigan is truly committed to him, why not grant him that wish?

I mean at this point, unless new and truly damning evidence comes out that directly implicates Harbaugh, why do you not give him the benefit of the doubt? What's wrong with saying "If this is the worst there is, we're behind you and will weather whatever storm comes our way?"

I can't blame Harbaugh for wanting something like that, especially if there truly isn't anything left that could directly suggest he knew what was going on.

If we've truly seen the worst of it, and this is all Harbaugh wants in his contract, and you let him walk over it? That's going to be something Michigan will regret letting slip through its fingers for a long, long time.
