I was a FR MMB member when that story unfolded. It seemed like it was lightning fast out of the blue story, in the early days of ESPN. The best source of news was WJR radio in Detroit.

It was a frosty Friday night, listening to the radio back home for the weekend. Finally, the great news was that Bo was staying.

I was in Houston on an internship the Fall of 84. TAMU fans were fuming about Jackie Sherrill not winning enough in Year 3 as he took less dough than Bo turned down. Those days, the SWC was a "who can outcheat whom" league with kickbacks, bribes, etc. Bo would have been miserable there. Other than cheating Mike White and Illinois, the B1G was still an honorable league.

Money schmoney...  Please give him the BEAR HUG he desires!  Whatever that is.

Note to Warde:  All signs point to you as the stickler in whatever is happening.  If he goes elsewhere you won't survive the backlash, regardless of who/what may be at fault.  If there is fault to be found, it'll be on you - fairly, or unfairly.

Don't want to be negative, but I don't get how we have donor money for $15m a year for the coach and not for NIL for players like Underwood. I love Harbaugh, but if this is the pool of cash I wonder if we'd be better off with Harbaugh or Moore making $5mil plus $10mil for NIL a year. In reality, I feel like our donors should be able to step up for both

Please Please pay the coordinators too !!!!!! As far as DC,  Jesse minter ranks like 21st in the country ( 950k base salary ). New Indiana DC is making 1.1 million ( ranked 13th).

As has been said repeatedly, its never about money with Harbaugh.  I appreciate Ross doing what he can but this isn't and never has been a dollars and cents issue

Unless he has his ego hitched to his salary, I don't think it's about money for Harbaugh. He has more than enough to last forever, for himself, his kids, and their kids.

Unless Ross can somehow convince NFL teams to NOT INTERVIEW Harbaugh, Ross will have no influence whatsoever regarding Harbaugh's decision to leave UM.  This isnt about money for Harbaugh.  UM could offer Harbaugh an insane $30M a year, and Harbaugh wouldnt care.  Harbaugh, above all other things, wants a Super Bowl win.  Harbaugh also realizes he's not getting any younger (turned 60 last month.)  If Harbaugh can find an NFL team that he believes could win a SB within a few years, he's gone.  If Harbaugh doesnt see such an NFL team on the horizon, Harbaugh stays at UM.  It's that simple.

Harbaugh has been at UM for 9 years.  That's twice as long as any other place Harbaugh has ever coached.  Harbaugh is not the type of coach who stays anywhere for very long.  Let's consider ourselves lucky to even have him as a coach.  He gave us a national championship.  First one in 26 years.  Harbaugh will go down as one of UM's greatest coaches.  We are blessed.

Its been said over and over and over. Like "toughness" in basketball, "playing with an identity" in football, or "Percy Harvin role". Good luck trying to stop the matrix from looping the same phrases over and over again. Oh and "Its not even close". Cant forget that one for 200 IQ "It is what it is" types.

Everything I've ever heard about Harbaugh is that he doesn't give a shit about the money. He wants support and money for everyone else so I'll never understand why all these reports keep talking about how big the contract is and how much money it'll take to keep him to stay. I find it far more credible that he wants assurances vs ncaa and b1g bullshit to stay in college or to be the de facto general manager and coach to go to the nfl.
