Urbs' recruiting system is bold and innovative - name drop Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes in every conversation, and correlate some aspect of every recruit in front of him to Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes. I heard he woo'ed a DT in Texas with the fact that the kid's eyes were the same color as Tebow's and he had the same way of laughing as Harvin. We have no chance against a recruiter of this magnitude. |

Magnus, curious if you could provide a comparison between Peppers and Woodson at this stage? Seems like he's the most dynamic DB prospect we've brougth in since Chuck, so it's odd the apples/apples comparison hasn't been made yet about Chuck coming out of high school to Michigan and JabReal. |

If he can introduce socks with bands up top that don't cut off circulation to my ankles and thus induce giant vericose veins like 95% of socks out there, I'll buy his shit in droves. |

Not topic worthy my man… Watching a bunch of boys do choreographed dance moves in football tights, and saying you love it begs the ‘no homo’ tag at the end of your post… A better story would have been like back in ’79 when I was the first kid at Power Middle School with a boom box and we’d stun the opposing team by parking the boom box courtside and blast “TNT” by AC DC as we rolled out of the locker room to start lay-up drills before the game… Talk about imposing, especially when we’d manage to make two or three lay-ups in a row… We went an undefeated 4-0 in games where we intimidated our pre-pubescent opponents with T-fucking-N-T. /boom awesome story bro’d |
| 2 days 13 hours ago | I don’t recall Magnus having |
I don’t recall Magnus having anything to do with the fact that everyone in New York refers to New Jerseyites as “bridge and tunnel” people. I lived and worked in New Jersey – Montvale/Paramus/Park Ridge – and honestly man, outside of Princeton and Asbury Park, Jersey is a dive. Unfriendly people wedged between the unfriendly towns of NYC and Philly, what would you expect? I loved how Giants Stadium was located in the "Meadowlands" which is a fancy way of saying it is located in a big, smelly swamp that probably houses the corpses of hundreds of Tony Soprano-types along with Jimmy Hoffa. Where Minnesota is the Land of a Thousand Lakes, what is Jersey? Land of a Thousand Smells? Land of a Thousand Strip Malls? Land of a Thousand Highways thankfully getting people in and out of Jersey as fast as possible? When I think of Jersey I think of Gary, Indiana and the smells related thereto. I think of Toledo, Ohio and the smells and sites related thereto. Even lovely towns like Montclair, Alpine and Summit can't shake that garbage feel, where odd garbage smells, and hot road side garbage reside. AC is fun simply because you can gamble there, but the town itself is an utter dive. Then don’t get me started on Newark or the Jersey Shore… Does Jersey have some nice people sprinkled in the mix? Sure, everywhere does, but again, Jersey is a dive, and for you to come to a website that endlessly bashes its neighboring Southern state as the worst state ever, and get butthurt when God forbid, someone bashes a state, you thoroughly clown yourself. I type this in the hope you’ll respond, so I can enjoy your buffoonery further. |

What is odd is if you read any media on this incident, including this dude’s tweets, they imply he only crushed one girl when in fact he destroyed two. The media and the tweets focus on the one to the left he leg dropped, who’s skull got smashed to the floor, but if you ask me, the one on the right who goes unmentioned is the one who got the worse end of it by taking the heal of his pointy boot right on the head, and then having her own head smashed to the floor. Gruesome. Odd everyone only sees one girl getting housed, when in fact he destroyed two. |
| 1 week 13 hours ago | Did you take a look at that |
Did you take a look at that away schedule? Away at ND, NW, MSU and Ohio. Good luck making it through that. Only reason I lump what will be a mediocre MSU team is because they will craft their entire season around preparing for that game, as they always do. |

I love Timmy, but dominant NBA player? Not a chance. He'll be at best the 6th or 7th guy in a rotation. I don't ever see him starting. Not hating, just keeping it real. |
| 1 week 15 hours ago | Disagree. Look at Notre |
Disagree. Look at Notre Dame. Their classic uni included dull sheen gold for decades, and I bet Domer slappies also railed against any prospect of change, but then look - in recent years they sheened up the gold and let's face it - they look far better now. Step away from splitting hairs on an analogy because that can be done with any analogy. Not to mention the fact that uniforms HAVE in fact changed just as cars have. Do the uni's Michigan wears now look exactly the same as the uni's on our team that beat OSU in '69? HOW DARE WE UNDERMINE TRADITION BY MOVING TO HIGHLIGHTER YELLOW!!! C'mon man... Flame away for my cutting against the herd mentality here to "moooo preserve tradition even though our helmets aren't even maize moooo." Tradition is extremely important in defining the Michigan brand, but to paralyze and undermine the progam's effort to keep up with the times by it is prehistoric thinking. The better way forward is to contrast the value of our traditions against the benefit from occasional deviation. For example – as to the winged helmet, and of our basic colors (blue/yellow) no deviation would ever out value preserving these traditions. But when you talk about slight modifications to a color (say maize vs highlighter yellow), or a different helmet sheen, like chrome, or a one-off shirt design that's pretty cool like our jerseys vs South Carolina, especially when those modifications are one-offs and very temporary (like one game) then the damage to tradition can easily be argued to be inferior to the gains that can come from (a) staying fresh with the times, (b) keeping up with other programs in the eyes of high school kids, and (c) jersey sales. |
| 1 week 17 hours ago | Why not? Seriously stop |
Why not? Seriously stop yourself and think it through a bit. If they come out with an alternative uni that is just absolutely badass, like helmets that actually use Maize instead of the highligher yellow helmet "tradition" you currently have on your lawn, and then they polish that maize and make it shine a bit like how Notre Dame sheened up the gold on their domes, it could make for a very badass combo of both retro and alternative that would be great to wear for a one time game. When I think of people who want everything to remain the exact same always, I think of the delapidated mansions in Gross Point where big 3 auto execs used to recline and try to preserve the status quo while Japanese auto companies began eating their lunch. I am 100% behind Brandon on keeping up with the times, especially when the fate of our storied program is in the hands of the decisions of 15-17 year olds who have little idea of the Michigan tradition. As long as the uniformz are badass looking and not MSU game killerbee uni's, I think it's a great idea. |
| 1 week 17 hours ago | I actually met Elizabeth |
I actually met Elizabeth Berkely at the '89 Rose Bowl where we housed USC. I talked to her just after half time outside on the ramparts exactly at the moment Ty Wheatly rumbled 83 yards or whatever it was. I was OK missing the run to chat up the fuego before me. She was from Farmington Hills and went to North Farmington High I believe, and thus a big Michigan fan. Felt like I was making headway until some 50 year old producter type came by and whisked her away by the arm. ... Hollywood. /boom Cool Story Bro'd. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | It amazes how Ohioans adore |
It amazes how Ohioans adore this sleazeball but I guess it makes sense, since he delivered them the one major sport championship any team in the Worst State Ever has won since the 70’s. How people laud a man who cheated and lied in order to give himself and his team an advantage over 13 (well 12 if you discount Pedn State) other programs Ohio State faced who played and coached and reported fairly is beyond me. It’s like the family of a bank robber blind to the fact he’s a criminal because he was robbing banks for them. What a great guy. Bizaare. |
| 1 week 4 days ago | You're not following. I only |
You're not following. I only mentioned the Bulls are woefully undermanned because I love digging at them any chance I can, but that has nothing to do with the enjoyable schadenfreude at work here. The 80s Pistons, HoFs, Championships aside, used a very physical defense against the Bulls in part to try and slow down the world's best player, which is exactly what the Bulls are trying to do to the Heat now, and that is the simple. laughable irony. The NBA most certainly was different, and a lot rougher back then, and it didn't start or end with the Pistons. Toss in a few youtubes of the brawls Larry Bird got into with Dr. J, or the hack jobs Robert Parrish and Tree Rollins committed and you'll see that. But then the Bulls came along. It was the Bulls - Jackson and Pippen in particular - who cried like pussies to the media and the NBA to get the refs to protect MJ to the Pistons' detriment, and the league was never the same. Prima-donna star treatment was born. Thus why it is a laughable irony as we enjoy watching the league protect LeBron now to the whining Bulls' detriment. |
| 1 week 5 days ago | So yeah, Sparty. Big bro |
So yeah, Sparty. Big bro took a few years off to try new things, some good, some bad, but adjustment period is over now son. That was sneaky of you to go around telling the world you could elevate and recruit inter-galactically while we were all flat footed making adjustments. But everyone knows you have nothing but a 12 inch vert that lets you maybe, and I mean maybe, touch a share of a Big Ten championship trophy once every two decades. The elite recruits know there's only one program in this state with the vertical to reach beyond the Big Ten and touch a chance at the NC, and thanks to them we're getting ready to jump real, real high lil bro. You can see it coming. You and the Bullock famiy. Now get out the way or get told. But you won't. You live to be a nuisance to us, that defines you. What a sad existence. Oh and enjoy Ohio and Penn State in the room now too. Lolz.

| 6 weeks 1 day ago | You suffer from the common, |
You suffer from the common, sad flaw that afflicts 90% of our species, which is the tendency to generalize a conclusion based upon limited data in order to simplify your world. Like a guy who has cross words at a grocery store with someone of a certain ethnicity and then extrapolates that most people of that ethnicity must be jerks, and he now despises that ethnicity. Certain generalizations can make sense given a broader range of data. Say for example – people over 80 tend to drive slower than people under 80. But when it comes to making this ridiculous, broad conclusion about the entire Michigan fan base, from one or two posts on a blog or website or two having fun with the suffering of other fans, you expose your own mental weakness. The simple fact is that every fan base, just as in every culture, has the vast majority of its members hovering somewhere in the moderate middle, but there will always be that small percentage of eccentrics and extremists at both ends. Any remotely bright Michigan fan will tell you that as much as we rail against Buckeye and Spartan fans, we know that the vast majority of their fans are decent, moderate people just trying to harmlessly root for their team. Michigan is no different. We have our idiot fans too, just as Kansas does, just as Nebraska does. |
| 6 weeks 2 days ago | Another reason why baseball |
Another reason why baseball blows, right next to the fact that it takes 10 baseball games equate to one NFL game in terms of season relevance. The ridiculous macho nature of baseball umpires, where if they make a blatant knee-jerk error they are somehow forbidden from changing their call, is absurd. When was the last time you ever saw an ump change his call that didn’t involve a foul line or foul post? Never. Baseball is almost unwatchable, even with the Tigers being as good as they are now. Hey MBL – “technology” – it makes the world a better place, and it’s been around for a while. |

| 6 weeks 3 days ago | YAAAAAAWN... losing fans |
YAAAAAAWN... losing fans complaining about the refs in basketball... I thought we were a touch better than that here. Refs were not good for us, but aside from the clear Burke block, down the stretch they did try to even things up a bit with tons of calls to get us to the line. End of day, the better team won. Only Burke and Albrecht showed up. McGary had an off game, Hardaway was off (as usual), Stauskas and Lavert non-existent, and GR3 had his usual decent, but not spectacular game. Louisville on the other hand, only had Russ Smith off his game. Siva had a huge game and executed perfectly, the big center made every ridiculous baby hook, their role playing forward had a monster night with 12 boards and 18 points, Hancock was his usual icy self making huge 3s and free throws, and flat out, Pitino coached a great game plan. Better team won. Period. THANK YOU BOYS FOR A GREAT SEASON!!!! Thank you Coach Beilein. We far exceeded expectations. Can't wait for next year. |
