| 5 weeks 19 hours ago | The team, the team, the team! |
I have no doubt someone showed McGary the old Schembecher speech, "the team, the team, team." In that speech, Schembechler says exactly the same thing as McGary said at today's press conference...when you go pro, you play for a contract. When you play at Michigan, it's the last chance you will ever play for a true team. Even from the grave, Bo is helping Michigan! Go blue! |
| 5 weeks 5 days ago | 2nd half of season is key |
Michigan doesnt really play a strong O the first half of the season, and you might even say they dont play a strong O all season (Nebraska at UM is iffy), however... Michigan plays plenty of strong D's, and playing against a strong D means your O isnt doing very well, which also means the other team's O is on the field quite a bit. Looking at Michigan's season, it is definitely back-loaded. Looking at Michigan's season, Michigan should be playing for a BCS spot the entire season. Given that, Hoke will put Ryan in the moment Ryan is ready. If Ryan makes it more likely Michigan wins one more game of their final six games, you know darn well Ryan plays. |
| 6 weeks 5 days ago | Better matchup for UM |
Louisville has better players than Syracuse, but the matchup against Louisville is probably an easier matchup for Michigan. Louisville is a combination of VCU/Florida, but with a legit shot-blocker in the middle. Should be high scoring. Burke should have a much better game. Michigan has to survive the first five minutes of the game against Louisville, then survive the last five minutes. I honestly expect Michigan to win the middle portion of the game against Louisville. Will Michigan play with pose against the press at the beginning of the game? Will Michigan be gassed at the end of the game, and succumb to the press? |
| 8 weeks 1 day ago | UCLA |
UCLA unknowingly dodge a bullet. Shaka's D is a gimmick. Legit teams (like Michigan) shred Shaka's D. RichRod's O = Shaka's D. UCLA cannot get back to the golden-days with a coach like Shaka. Shaka's style fits smaller schools. |
| 16 weeks 5 days ago | Great question... |
I am 41 years old. I remember the Bo and Lloyd teams. I have a decent subset of athletes to pull from, and even with over three decades of watching UM football, my biggest disappointment is still Tate Forcier. Watching Tate play crazy-good at home vs Notre Dame convinced me Forcier would be UM's next heisman winner. Ugh. |

My prediction: #1 Duke #2 Syracuse #3 Kansas #4 Michigan #5 Lousville |
| 22 weeks 3 days ago | Die-hard UM fan with an open mind |
I love this new uniform. Admit it, Michigan's current road uniform is too boring. UM's school colors are maize and blue, not maize and white. The current road uniforms have too much white, and lack enough blue. This Outback uniform has the correct amount of blue, yellow and white. I will buy this jersey, which is of course why Dave Brandon had these made in the first place That's ok. I like it, so I am gonna buy it.
What I wish I could really buy is a short-sleeve Michigan t-shirt that has a different color on the sleeves than on the main body of the t-shirt. Those are impossible to find! |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | Suspending seniors? |
Suspending seniors, before a bowl game? This is more than a violation of team rules. I gotta think these kids broke some laws. Hagerup has been in trouble multiple times. Seems like this becomes more than a suspension for Hagerup. |
| 24 weeks 3 hours ago | Vegas line? |
Anyone know the line for this game, or know where to find the line? I am going to Vegas and want to place a friendly wager on UM/Ark. |
| 24 weeks 4 days ago | Line? |
Early line out yet? If not, anyone care to guess what the line will be? |
| 25 weeks 5 days ago | Monster D |
The 2013 lineup is a monster Defense. Offense should be effective, but not spectacular. It's the schedule that encourages me. Michigan will be favored in every game they play. That roster and that schedule feels like 11-1 to me. Michigan will most likely go to the Rose Bowl, and will have an outside chance of playing in the NC game. |
| 27 weeks 4 hours ago | Reflection of society |
The disapperance of students at UM games has a much deeper meaning than just the student's interest in football... Young people are spoiled. Young people take things for granted. Its been this way since the rise of the middle-class, post WW2. It's worse now than it has ever been. Students too drunk the night before a football game? Just an excuse. Students too deep in debt to attend football games? Just an excuse. If the students actually cared about UM football, they wouldnt get too drunk to attend a game. If the students actually cared about UM football, they would save their money and be able to afford attending UM football games. The bottom line is that students no longer care about UM football. College athletics, ironically, are geared towards the middle-aged citizens with passion and resources. Why should there even be a student section at any college stadium? It's an out-dated concept. Get rid of the student section, and put those seats up for regular-sale just like all the other seats. Sell those seats to people who appreciate the seats. The times have changed. So should the student section. |
| 34 weeks 3 days ago | Good riddance! |
I say good riddance! Bo was right, we don't need ND, we don't want ND. Once Nebraska joined the B1G, Michigan now has enough quality opponents. In the average year, Michigan will play OSU, MSU, Wisconsin and Nebraska. The occassional non-conference tough opponent makes future UM schedules quite difficult. |
| 36 weeks 2 days ago | Root for ND |
This is an easy choice. You root for ND because MSU is in the Legends division, and non-conference losses count towards the tie-breaker. The goal of UM each and every year is to win the B1G. A MSU loss helps UM's chances of winning the B1G. |
| 37 weeks 6 days ago | Legitimate question |
It's a legitimate question. There is no FAQ (that I know of) on mgoblog that helps Michigan fans find internet streams of the games. Perhaps the poster is new to mgoblog or new to internet sports streaming. Not everyone who visits this site is a mgoblog veteran. It's even more legitimate because ESPN3 is not streaming the Michigan/Alabama game tonight. |
| 38 weeks 3 days ago | With new info... |
With the new info you guys have posted, sounds like OWI can include jail-time. I am guessing Fitz doesnt play vs. Alabama, which is fine by me. Michigan is expected to lose to Alabama, so as far as I am concerned, Michigan is playing with house-money. Sit Fitz and sit Clark. Discipline matters. |
| 38 weeks 3 days ago | Interesting |
I don't know the legal penalties for an OWI in Michigan, but if it doesn't include any potential jail-time, I suspect Fitz will play against Alabama. I live in Arizona, and pleading down from a DUI in Arizona would take you to a reckless driving. Reckless driving in Arizona is a large fine, and you have to take some defensive driving classes. I doubt a typical college football coach would suspend a player for a reckless driving. |
| 1 year 14 weeks ago | Scottsdale??? |
Which particular B1G bowl is played in Scottsdale? The Insight bowl is played at Sun Devil stadium, which is the home stadium for ASU in Tempe. Gigantic college area. Lots of young people. The Fiesta bowl is played in Glendale, which is a suburb of Phoenix. Glendale is near many of the retirement communities in western Phoenix. Listing Scottsdale as the location for the Insight and Fiesta bowls is like listing Gross Pointe as the location for Michigan stadium. Brian, you gotta get your facts right if you are going to post about bowl locations. |

| 1 year 20 weeks ago | Did Michigan beat the -1.5 spread? |
I bet Michigan in Vegas with -1.5. Did I win the bet? How does overtime effect a regular Vegas point-spread bet? |
| 1 year 24 weeks ago | Going to Vegas |
I am visiting Las Vegas next weekend. I will find the best point-spread I can, but I will bet heavily on Michigan if I find Michigan at -3 or less against VT. If I find VT the favorite, I will bet the damn farm!!! |
| 1 year 24 weeks ago | UM Football and presidential politics, all in one night! |
Besides the Sugar bowl, something else is happening January 3rd...the Iowa caucuses! If you are into presidential politics and Michigan football (like I am), you are in for a very entertaining evening. Go blue! |
| 1 year 24 weeks ago | Wrong |
According to CBS, VT is playing in the Chick-Fil-A bowl. Confirming link: http://eye-on-collegefootball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/241563... |

I want the weakest opponent Michigan can get. BCS win = better recruiting and the big mo going into spring practice. KSU > TCU > Boise State > Alabama |

The link I posted above is for the CBS/Jerry Palm final prediction of the final BCS rankings. They have Michigan at #12!
|
| 1 year 24 weeks ago | Michigan is #22 in sagarin |
Michigan is actually #22 in sagarin, not #17. The sagarin poll that has Michigan #17 uses margin of error for its results, and is not allowed in the actual BCS rankings. The other sagarin poll is used, and it has Michigan at #22. |

| 1 year 24 weeks ago | CBS leaking final BCS rankings? |
Look at these BCS rankings from CBS. Some people on twitter are claiming these are the new final rankings. These rankings seem to take into account all the games from Saturday, but how could these rankings have appeared so quickly? http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/rankings/bcs I am very skeptical, but they look legitimate. If they arent legit, where are they coming from? |

Nardudeski nailed it. Please stop linking that silly widget. It doesnt take rankings, poll points, computer polls, SoS, nor any of the details really needed to predict who will play in the BCS bowls. It's almost worthless. |
