greatest Tiger. When Al Kaline says he hasn't seen a hitter like Cabrera you know the guy is way beyond special. He is approaching the rarefied air of Williams-Dimaggio-Aaron-Ruth. |

But I also think you greatly overstate Avril and Fairley's dirtiness. Fairley had that one hit on Brees where he drove him into the ground but since then he has refrained from similiar hits. The Lions reputation is based largely on a few plays by Suh.
Sorry, but any team with Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall has no room to criticize anyone about issues relating to character.Your QBgot into a fight ON THE FIELD with one of his own linemen! |

insincere expressions of sorrow or failure to acknowledge other tragedies with equal fervor. Mindless cynicism has become all the rage these days. It's a way for these self-righteous pricks to express their sense of moral superiority without coming off as the smarmy hypocrites of decades past. |

Anyone can pray. Not anyone is willing to place themselves in physical danger for other people. There is no more selfless act than offering up what is most precious(life) for another. |

| 4 days 6 hours ago | I have signatures of Desmond and Juwan. |
My Dad got them for me when I was a teenager. But now that I think about it I find the idea of collecting autographs absurd. This is simply a secular version of collecting the relics of saints. It is a form of idolatry that says something about our tendency to worship famous and powerful people. I can understand collecting historical artifacts like manuscripts, political documents, weapons, etc. But signatures? Unless they are part of a letter by themselves they are historically unimportance. Fawning over famous people because they are, well, famous is not behavior we as a country should be perpetuating. |

| 6 days 7 hours ago | EMU athletics in general is solid. |
The track and swimming teams are outstanding, the baseball team has made a couple of trips to the NCAAs this(and swept UM this year),women's basketball(until this year) has been a MAC power for years...EMU athletics is pretty good considering how little they have to work with.
However, the festering wound is EMU football. While EMU has had a modicum of success in the past(California Bowl) and produced some NFL players(Jason Jones, TJ Lang, Charlie Batch, Kevin Walter) it rarely is competitive on the field. A lack of resources is often cited, but I believe that the issue is as much related to managerial competence as a paucity of money. Afterall, there are many schools that do well on limited funds. Northwestern, while having more money than EMU, is way behind its conference brethern in accessibility to financial resources. Its' alums don't seem to have the same level of passion for sports that UM or ND alums do and it certainly does not have a large fan base in general. This last element is the one of the most important factor in a school's resources. More fans equals more lucrative sponsorships and increased ability to charge high prices for tickets. It is a measure of Michigan's popularity that it can charge so much for so many seats. The brand is so lucrative because Bo smartly built it upon the values of the social class most likely to embrace the game of football--the working class. Values like toughness, integrity, and a firm belief in egalitarianism are why so many of the proleteriat have chosen to support a team from an elite institution. This appeal attracted a great many fans who have since passed it down to their children and grandchildren. This identity is something EMU football has completely lacked. EMU needs a Bo to forge an image that can attract fans. Until this happens(which maybe never) EMU football will continue to flounder. |

I lived in the good area of Ypsi, but it still pales in comparison to Ann Arbor. Ypsi along Michigan avenue is rough. |
| 6 days 8 hours ago | $100? Yeah, that’s about right. |
No one gives a shit about EMU football. |
| 6 days 8 hours ago | Yep. Work experience and contacts are most important. |
My step-brother graduated from EMU 4 years ago with just a bachelor's degree and now he is making $90,000 at Kraft. He is 27. My other brother makes 6 figures with no college degree whatsoever.

You don't use a phrase that everyone knows insinuates action. You say something along the lines of "We are looking at our options". It indicates the potential for action while promising nothing. "Stay tuned" indicates to the listener to remain alert(which is exactly you don't want if you are trying to shoo people away from a subject.) for possible or even probable change. |

are the issue. The kid is a three star receiver and an one star rapper. |
| 1 week 3 days ago | You’ll have to explain that last comment. |
You have overlooked a significant problem with point three. Whom do you pay? EMU football players don't generate near the revenue for Eastern that UM players do for UM. Schools like EMU already struggle to field teams.(Hece, the body bag games.) By forcing all schools to pay you'll end up seeing these programs get cut. In doin g so you will REDUCE opportunities for kids to attend college for free. Then there is the fact that not every UM player contributes in equal amounts to Michigan's on-the-field success. How do can you justify paying Brian Cleary the same as Devin Gardner? Then there is the Title IX issue. How do you pay males and not females? The system does need major reform and the revenue players do need to be paid. But in doing so you will be taking on athletic directors and activist groups. |

I appreciate his passion for rap, but he has to know that rap is a difficult business to break into. Why not go to MSU for business so he has a backup plan in case his dreams of becoming Big Harry Dope Rhymes do not pan out? At worst he can become an agent or a record company executive. (Which appears to be the more likely path based on his rather atrocious rapping skills.)
