Any Word on LB Coach Target Brian Jean-Mary?

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on February 15th, 2024 at 9:15 AM

We were hearing from a few insiders that BJM was expected to announce a decision yesterday. Since then, there seems to be radio silence. Has anybody here heard anything more?

And yes, I'm being impatient. Coach Moore is getting me excited with his coaching moves, and I want the good news to continue to flow. BJM has Michigan ties and appears to be a great recruiter, so I want him back in Ann Arbor.

The xiphoid process is made of cartilage at birth and hardens into bone as a person ages. The word "xiphoid" comes from the Greek word xiphos, which means "straight sword".
The xiphoid process's main function is to provide an area for muscular attachment. Pain in the xiphoid process can cause swelling and discomfort, but it's usually not a cause for concern.
During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), it's possible to fracture or dislodge the xiphoid process. This can potentially cause punctures or lacerations of the diaphragm, or an inadvertent liver puncture that can lead to life-threatening internal bleeding.

It's a shame there isn't a Front Page Post about the new Defensive Coaches. I know it's a bit dated, being from yesterday and all but do you think something happened in the last 15 minutes that they're keeping from everyone?

The article provides excellent background on Brian Jean-Mary, but doesn't get into the weeds of our efforts to poach him other than saying we made a sizable offer.

Again, I know I'm being impatient, and I normally wouldn't indulge that impatience, but there's nothing else happening except MBB continuing its tailspin.

The simple answer is that BJM is in the middle of a bidding war for his services, and presumably likes both options (staying at TN and returning to Michigan), so will make a decision once he has everyone’s best and final offers.  My guess is it will be decided by the end of day tomorrow.

Reports from yesterday was he was in his Tennessee office all day. But this is what one of the Tennessee insiders on ON3 said this morning.

I’d say barring an upset, he is going to take the Michigan offer. That’s how it feels to me.

Sam talked about it on the Roundtable this morning.

His 'gut feeling' is that BJM wants to tell the Tennessee players in person before finalizing his contract and leaving for UM.

Michigan Insiders have (rightfully) taken their lumps recently but that's what Sam said.

I think many of you would save yourself some injury but simply waiting for things to become official. "insiders", at least the well meaning ones, are simply posting the best information they have at the time. But like with recruiting we're talking about human decisions, which can go any which way, and when you read that post from Insider X who said "this is what's happening" it's already old and 10 things could have changed since then.

What advantage do you gain knowing something 4 hours before it's official? How does it meaningfully affect your life? There is only this moment. At this moment, BJM is not our linebackers coach. At some later moment he may become our linebackers coach. In that moment, you'll know.

When it comes to a decision like this, it seems that there are only two insider sources:  BJM's significant other and the voices in BJM's head.  Anything else is pure speculation, and yet some positioned as "insiders" generate clicks and income by claiming to be what they are not.
