At one time, the stripes didn't extend to the bottom, for example. The numbers were on the helmets for many years. I suspect that when the helmet was changed in prior years there was someone screaming "DO NOT MESS WITH THE HELMET!!!" They didn't listen - the result is the helmet you love today. |
