OSU in 21 should be my top, but the Washington game was so glorious. I watched it with my daughter and wife. I think I'll always cherish that game because I got to watch a national championship with my kid. And all the good feelings of 3 osu victories in a row were fresh in my blood watching that game. The Rose Bowl was an awesome ending, but very stressful during. But the Washington game felt amazing throughout.
We actually know an inordinate amount of what racism is now, just not most people. But experts in neuroscience, education, sociology, history, etc. write some amazing breakdowns and hopefully are building a larger audience as time progresses.
Where are you teaching? My wife and I pull 200-220k per year teaching in Michigan. Might be worth considering going somewhere that values you financially.
I drew his blood once or twice when I was working at a hospital over the summer in college. After he left the whole crew made fun of me for not having any idea who he was.
I think it was him where one time I drew his blood and set the vial down. He jumped out of his seat really abruptly when I had finished and knocked the vial onto the ground where it shattered. He stared at it and asked if this meant we had to do it again. We were both mildly annoyed about it.
I find I do better than those who don't watch in many years, but not every year. Picking the better team often works better, playing the correct odds often works better, but the wrong upsets can throw a big wrench in things.
This year I'm not doing well so far, but it's early and I didn't watch much regular season because I was trying to pretend it didn't exist. My biggest one I wish I had chosen differently is that I had NC State going out and that was a mistake. I think they could go on quite a run.
I'm reading Steeped The Chemistry of Tea right now by Michelle Francl and my favorite book I've read this year is probably How We Learn by Stanislas Dehaene.
On a slightly related note, if anyone works in non-fiction publishing I'd love to have a professional help me with a book I wrote about teaching chemistry.
Roman is unbelievably quick, to be honest I think Cornelius Johnson is a lot better than his production was as well. Although he was absolutely dominant in the Ohio State games.
I'm throwing an upvote in so you know it's sincere. To make it even more unbelievable, I bought a replica lord of the rings sword for posing for my progress pics too. But it's all true. I love weightlifting, I don't do the olympic style lifts, but am getting the payoff from a long road of physical therapy. I hope your kids love it, it's my favorite thing right now.
I've had so much success with dieting and exercise this year I can't believe it. I started doing some breathing/stretches that help with alignment and it's eliminated injuries in ways I can't believe. Now I'm running 10-15 miles per week, doing weights 4-5 times per week, and now I'm looking at calisthenics movements even though my flexibility has a ways to go. I feel amazing every day and I set up mirrors all around my basement to admire the 8-pack as I work out.
I had lower expectations going in, but I thought they would struggle offensively particularly with shooting. When that turned out to not be the case I revised upwards, especially after the 3-0 start. But wow I did not see the defense being this bad.
I feel like I make excellent money teaching and I absolutely love my job. Michigan is also a state that probably has the best ratio of teacher pay vs. cost of living.
ND isn't exactly a trainwreck either. They had that really bad stretch right at the start but were 10-3 with a blow out win in the bowl game. They should have beaten Ohio State too.
I mean this with kindness, but you're lying. You do see color and it does impact you. There's substantial evidence showing so. Happy to share research if you're interested since I know this is a very popular/emotional misconception.
I think I got $300-500 for working in Detroit. There were some bonuses for being vaccinated and showing proof as well as what position you ran. It starts really early in the morning and it's a long day, but I was surprised at how much it paid.
There are quite a few yard signs in Plymouth about the pending doom. I wonder what it's like to have the time/energy to get so enraged over something so trivial.
I'm loving all these diaries about everyone's fandom over the decades. My daughter pointed out to me that she's 14 while we won the national championship and that I was also 14 when we won the 1997 championship. I barely knew college football existed back then and I'm so grateful she's taken a love to watching Michigan sports with me starting in 2020.
I'd add on for those who are interested that nothing in psychology or cognitive science advocates for colorblind ideology. It's quite clear that human brains take in substantial amounts of data without system 2 processing it and are influenced by that data without awareness of it. As a simple example, see the clipboard study. For race specific you can see how skin tone activates the amygdala prior to awareness of the image.
Good reading on this can include Thinking Fast and Slow and I really like How Emotions are Made by Barrett. For impacts on the social construction I'd recommend The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee.
I assume you're implying that MLK was advocating color blindness which is just not true. Check in with his family as it's quite frustrating that he was murdered and now his words are twisted to represent something he was against.
The coaching is just better for the women right now. Their win over Ohio State showed a lot of growth in how they handled the press and limited turnovers that typically is not a strength.
The top tier of wbb in the big ten is quite good this year, but our team has a shot to pull an upset or two while typically holding their own against the mid and lower tiers.

That Florida game was awesome, ran all over them all day. The announcers didn't know what to say about the NFL picks on Florida's d-line.

That pass was unreal!
What a beautiful fucking pass, LFG!

Agree to disagree, may they all rot in hell
Fuck Johns Hopkins
That's honestly really impressive

In my millenial world, not all boomers are "boomers" but I can definitely see your point too
It's a pretty high-level of "boomer" going on in that post
stuttering isn't the same thing as babbling and is a pretty shitty thing to make fun of

It's intense! Gripping story though.
In my head, you're the one pulling the race card, but for reasons you likely wouldn't understand nor seek to comprehend
This team is so good at shooting, they could be so much fun to watch if they were winning a few more games and playing better defense
Northwestern was pretty good a couple years ago, they've really had a bad season

Spoilers man!

Love that we shut them out at home, brilliant win

To me that's a really weird thing to make binary, seems to me that coaching would be a sliding scale and you'd improve as you go

Shooting this season has been a pleasant surprise, it's the defense in my opinion that's a trainwreck
I stole this from the last thread of these, but I love this one

The hurdle section of that video....
In my neighborhood they'd describe the lunatic as "safe" and a "nice guy"

Was the score 30-24, 42-27, 45-23 or some other score in this game?
Literally that's you, and I don't even expect direct quotes to change your mind, but here you go
I'm excited to see how Sabb does next year. His championship game performance looked fantastic.
Our lives are better because of this wonderful creation you have made and upheld, thanks Brian!
