Michigan/MSU Game Time

Submitted by AFWolverine on September 13th, 2023 at 9:12 AM

Quick question for the board/mods. The schedule in the "useful stuff" says we play MSU at night. All other sources online including the MSU AD site still say "TBD." Yes, I searched the board as well. I will potentially have another event going on that day and I'm really hoping to not have to DVR the game if it's in the evening. Does anyone have insight on this or is the MGOSchedule just a leftover time from last year?

If that "other event" is a wedding then just don't go and tell them you aren't going because they scheduled a fall wedding and they are selfish.

If that "other event" is your wedding then it isn't too late

Funny wedding/sports story. My cousin's wedding was in Wisconsin on June 7, 1997, the same day the Wings finished their sweep of the Flyers for their first cup since 1955. The reception was at a hotel ball room, and the game started just after the reception did. So I grabbed a plate of food at the 1st intermission and sat in the lobby of the hotel in front of a TV and watched the entire game. It was well worth the nasty looks I got from my uncle and grandma, but it did make for a subdued celebration for me.

Brett McMurphy reported several weeks ago that the Michigan-MSU game would be played at 7:30 on NBC. I don't know if that has been formally announced or not.

I believe it could still be subject to "flex scheduling" between the three B1G networks, NBC, CBS and Fox.

I think it the off-season it was reported it will be a night game in East Lansing (on NBC I think?) but that was before Mel Tucker’s indecency was exposed so they may or may flex that out if they can. Figures crossed they do because I also have something to do that night.

Also, if they've lost multiple games by then, it takes the luster off of primetime.

IF?? Sparty plays Washington, Maryland, @Iowa and @Rutgers before facing Michigan in EL. Bringing Mark out of retirement might be a nice stabilizing PR play, but I don't believe his angry presence on the sideline yields more than one win out of that four game prelude to keeping Paul Bunyan in Ann Arbor.

Is bringing Dantonio a stabilizer?

His program was in the tank at the end. You’re adding a new figure head to an already established locker room hierarchy.

Who is in charge Harlon?  Mork?

Maybe he comes back and just game plans Michigan for five weeks but I’m not so sure this is a smart move.

Sparty fans probably think it gets this team to a bowl game. I'm leaning towards the Double-D thinking that it's a mess if he's on the sideline wearing a headset. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts it's Mark's plan to pull a rabbit out of his hat and somehow bring Paul back to EL so people will forget about how MSU was ended up with Mel due to the timing of his retirement based on personal greed.

All was forgiven the moment this scandal broke. All will be forgotten with a win that derails Michigan's season. I'm sure on a personal level he wants it badly too. He may have a winning record against Michigan, but he has a losing record against Harbaugh (whose arrival, whether they want to admit it or not, was the beginning of the end for Dantonio) and I'm sure that rankles him to no end. Jim needs to rise to the occasion with a great game plan of his own. Even just an equal game plan will do, as he has the far superior team.

I believe this is one of those situations where the likely game time was deduced by looking at the games whose kickoff times have already been announced and comparing those with the network coverage obligations/time slots. So while it hasn’t *officially* been announced as a night game yet, it appears extremely likely to happen. There are a few mgobloggers who are really on top of network coverage obligations who can probably confirm the specifics.

All good choices, XM, but I'll have to go with Wendy on the rotten potatoes.

Interesting note: some perfumes use certain chemicals found in skunk spray to make the perfume scent last longer. Think of that the next time your wife sprays on her favorite eau de toilette.

Edit: One of the worst was from my childhood. My cousins lived in south central WI, middle of dairy country. In the spring, large trucks would pick up the cows that died in the pastures over the winter and take them off somewhere to dispose of them (or maybe make them into dog food or something like that). When they drove past...(retch)...I do believe the air changed color from the smell. And it didn't just pass with the truck. It lingered. For a long time. It was so thick you could taste it on your tongue.
