Yeah, agreed. For somebody…

Yeah, agreed. For somebody who has been very well connected to Michigan athletics, especially during the Harbaugh era, it seems he is trying to maintain some relevancy.

Now that Harbaugh is gone, I’m assuming he’ll go back to his “dropping hints and rumors” style reporting but never actually committing to the news he reports.

The reasons why Beilin left…

The reasons why Beilin left in the first place have only gotten worse.

Hold up. I think we need to clearly determine why Beilein actually left Michigan in the first place. While he was never enthused with the future state of recruiting, it’s also claimed he had thought about taking an NBA job for a couple years prior to his departure. He also was upset that players on his last roster at Michigan chose to move on to the NBA instead of staying in school.

All this is to say that recruiting and shady recruiting tactics (which are now legal for the most part) might have played a factor in him leaving but weren’t the sole, or overarching, factors for him leaving Michigan.

Why even make your first…

Why even make your first collection of points (although true in statement, not in context) and then go shit all over them with your follow-up points.

This isn’t a case of needing to look at Howard’s season “from both sides”. He needs to go, either from his own choosing or that of the administration.

If he doesn’t, his legacy will almost certainly be tarnished, that is if it hasn’t already.

Given comments Howard made…

Given comments Howard made earlier in the season about his players, you could make the case he gave up on them.

Nailed it. In fact, I just…

Nailed it. In fact, I just received a swirly from the lacrosse team for using the terms “lexicon” and “syntax” instead of saying you know, regular old stuff.

I’m gonna need a cloth garment, err towel, to clean this up :/

the ability to extend plays…

the ability to extend plays with good athleticism

Can’t the same be said for a lot of quarterbacks? Were there any other criteria or qualifiers that went into this comparison?

This seems so random and methinks there are several other QBs that would’ve been a better comp. The differences between JJ and McNabb seem… vast, I guess?

Also slight phrasing detail but “Per Brock Huard…” makes it sound as if he is reporting on actual news or issuing a report. Why not just include McNabb in the title as well instead of clickbaiting the board? An easier, more accurate title would’ve been “Well-documented mouth breather, Brock Huard, thinks JJ  is comparable to D. McNabb. Wtf?”

Truth hurts and the results…

Truth hurts and the results speak for themselves. I’m guessing OSU fans and alumni have come to grips knowing what little impact they perceived the scandal had at the time and at the very least accept how the season played out.

Good to hear the chatter was at a minimum and hope your son has a successful semester!

The championship run itself…

The championship run itself probably will only interest Michigan fans and maybe a few sicko fans from some of the opposing teams we played.

The SignGate stuff with Stallions however is more of a national story but I’m not sure it’s a cultural phenomenon worthy of its own documentary as it stands right now? That said, if the rabbit hole goes much deeper than what’s on the surface and Stallions or other players have additional information, I could see the intrigue.

Lastly, I’m not really interested in any documentary that would take the “shine” off the championship or players accomplishments just for the sake of entertainment. If they want to do a 30 for 30 10-15 years from now, cool with me but it’s not worth it at this current juncture IMO.

The fuck are you talking…

The fuck are you talking about?

While headphones/earbuds might have deterred the situation from ever taking place, the fact is this person assaulted someone 55 years older than him to the point where someone else had to break up the "fight". I believe the person also ran away from the scene, which only reinforces the idea that he, himself, knew he was wrong. Unless we're talking about the most fit, in-shape 80 year old in the Detroit-metro area, there likely wasn't ever a physical threat to the young person in question. I mean, what's more selfish than beating the shit out of an 80-year old man who can't fight back?

If you ask me, the real problem with society is when people find it necessary to play devil's advocate regarding a situation that very clearly has a "right" and "wrong" response. Believe it or not, not every situation entitles someone a perspective from the other side. Unless I'm missing something or there is an element of the story that is being left out, this is not a case of having to walk a mile in someone else's shoes.

See my clarification above…

See my clarification above. I love Blake Corum and he's my favorite RB to ever play for Michigan but he has plenty more examples of getting chased down from behind in the open field vs making house calls. Again, this isn't a knock on him but speaking more matter of factly. This likely has to do with him being a zone runner and having to escape 3 or 4 tackles before getting to the 2nd level. He's not one-cut speedster like Donovan Edwards but it has served him, and UM, well. Evidence is out there, folks.

Also as a caveat: Watching his 67-yard TD vs Wash, the DB took one of the worst angles I've ever seen and the secondary seemed to slow up around their own 25 but yes, his early speed was undeniable. This seems like a moot point to argue about as well all love Corum and he'll be a great catch for any team.

Yeah I mostly referring to…

Yeah I was mostly referring to his profile entering this year's NFL draft, not necessarily coming out of HS. His recruiting profile had him timed at a 4.44 40 and his physical stature obviously changed from his freshman year through 2023.

NFL RB's rarely make house call touchdowns from the line of scrimmage anyway so I think the speed he does have should translate nicely. Add in fact that his vision and low-to-the-ground running style often gets him to the 2nd level, he'd be nice get for any team with a deficiency at RB.

I may just be turning into…

I may just be turning into Abe Simpson yelling at the clouds but as someone who works with young adults as a large part of my job, I've unfortunately seen quite a few of these cases where young men or women have escalated threats or assaulted older adults way outside of their own physical abilities recently.

This situation appears to have stemmed from a verbal altercation. Yelling and posturing is one thing but if you're 25(!) and you need to hit an 80(!?) year old, there's something very wrong with you. Braylon saying he feared for that elderly man's life concerns me that if he wasn't there, what could've happened.

Corum is who is he is at…

Corum is who is he is at this point. His physical attributes are unlikely to change going into the NFL draft unless he wants them to. He's a pinball-ninja and losing any amount of weight isn't going to change his running style and have little effect on his 40 time.

He was never listed a speedy, "burner" type of RB. But if you want the chains to move and enjoy seeing linebackers juked out of their cleats in the 2nd level, he's your guy. If he can land with a team that commits to running the ball and he stays healthy, I think we'll see a very successful career for Blake the Great!

Agreed. MM was truly a deep…

Agreed. MM was truly a deep threat that exposed a lot of shaky secondaries.

Antonio Bass? We hardly knew ye.

Thinking back to Denard's…

Thinking back to Denard's time in college is such an anomaly in my opinion as I can't recall another player since that was so gifted in one particular skill set that opposing teams couldn't stop. RR pretty much said "Go do your thing where you make everyone look dumb". Towards the end of his career at UM, I could barely watch him throw passes beyond 10 yards without covering my eyes. He made some good throws (Under The Lights vs ND 2011) but was a "one-trick pony" in the kindest sense of the phrase.

Glad he's still around the program and has to be the nicest/happiest guy to wear a Michigan jersey.

I can get get behind this…

I can get get behind this selection. He's created a nice little niche as a journeyman backup QB but I also thought he would set the league on fire given his cannon for an arm, good mechanics, and overall command of the offense.

Still he made millions in a backup role and is good enough to plug-n-play if needed. There are much worse ways to be considered a bust in the NFL.

Butt should at least get an …

Butt should at least get an *asterisk due to his injury.

Still my favorite UM…

Still my favorite UM receiver of all time with Tai Streets and Mario Manningham a close 2 and 3.

Having lived in both the #14…

Having lived in both the #14 (Currently in Grand Rapids) & #15 (Undergrad in Fort Collins, CO) cities on this list, I can say that any city is going to have it's +'s and -'s.

I think it really depends on what stage you're at in your life and what's important to you. Do you want to afford a nice house in a nice neighborhood with a good job in which to raise a family? Grand Rapids is hard to beat. Or are you more concerned with activities outside, a fun night life, and a "cool" culture? I'd highly suggest Fort Fun.

I also think that many of the cities on the list have a high % population of educated people. Typically cities with adults who have obtained some form of higher ed degree have more amenities, access to healthcare, better schools, higher paying jobs, and an overall better quality of life.

Given the circumstances:

Given the circumstances:

Yeah, I watched from the 15…

Yeah, I watched from the 15:00 minute mark in the 1st half to halftime and was confused why the crowd seemed so pro-Purdue on Michigan’s home court. There’s a few other obvious and not so obvious answers to yesterday’s atmosphere:

- Purdue is a top 5-ish team and their fans are going to travel well to commutable away games @ UM, MSU, IU, OSU, etc.

- Although Michigan did upset a slumping Wisconsin team earlier this year, that’s about the only bright spot I can think of to inspire someone to attend the game.

- Relatedly, and I feel bad saying this, there isn’t much to play for at this point. No hopes for a post-season tournament birth + generally bad basketball = low fan turnout. I have to think even a mediocre, possible bubble team changes the atmosphere to some degree.

- Lastly, I don’t think students and fans intentionally tried to send a message to the team or administration by not attending but it literally speaks volumes when an opposing fan base takes over like that.

Although I thought UM played well enough to make it competitive, Purdue had an answer for most of UM’s runs. As many have said, that scene is to be expected but Crisler doesn’t have the auto-pull for students/fans that the blue-blood programs like Duke, UK, or KU do where even in a down year, the stands will be packed. Can’t ask fan attendance behaviors to change if the program itself doesn’t make the changes it needs to first.

So... They fire, Warde?

So... They fire Warde?

... Did I word that right?

This isn't your common…

This isn't your common scatter chart. Considering my variables are the same unit of measurement, I believe my statement still rings true.

This is good.

This is good.

With all due respect to AP…

With all due respect to AP and his great college and professional career, how big of an Adrian Peterson fan do you have to be to purchase his "well-used grill brush" for $84? I mean, what's next; a gently-used Adrian Peterson nostril hair trimmer with starting bids at $59?

But yeah, this guy is "financially stable". When people run in circles it's a very, very mad world.

Trousers? Fucking trousers?…

Trousers? Fucking trousers? I have no interest in purchasing a pair of Adrian Peterson's pants or even his jeans but I would gladly bid well over asking price for a pair of his trousers.

This will be the mantra of…

This will be the mantra of Howard's basketball teams in a nutshell...

"Played well for X amount of minutes only to lose within the last X amount of minutes"

Welp, it happened and we've…

Welp, it happened and we've finally made it to the "Just the cards" point in this abysmal season. I don't fault you, Seth and the apathy dripping from the post speaks volumes to the general vibe around this team.

As is the case with most horrendous teams in sports, you're either really bad but at least entertaining to watch with a pulse (Scott Frost-era Nebraska football) or really bad but extremely boring with the excitement of a dead moth. Guess which category Juwan Howard's team falls into.

"I want to emphasize that I…

"I want to emphasize that I am financially stable, and would never sell off my hard-earned trophies,” the 15-year NFL vet said.

So financial stability is keeping a hold onto your trophies but not the other 950+ personal memorabilia items? Weird flex, AP but I'm gonna have to call shenanigans.

Unfortunately many young…

Unfortunately many young athletes may not share the same values/principals to personal financial management as most people who have the access to financial advising or learned from family and friends in the same socio-economic environment.

Chances are, if you came from underserved or underprivileged communities, the terms "financial advising" were never on your radar because you never had any funds to advise about. And while AP eventually retired very late into his career, he obviously had a litany of legal and personal troubles (self-inflicted troubles, mind you) he had to take care of and those cost $$ along with whatever lifestyle he and his family were used to. Hire a financial advisor, you say? You better know them well and trust them down to every penny or they will turn your assets into liabilities real quick.

So yes, blowing $100 million seems hard to do for the average person and throwing $5 million away into a rainy-day investment fund might be a formality to you or me but there are plenty of cases of folks coming into money who have absolutely no idea how to manage it and often end up worse than where they started. I'm sure AP made some piss-poor decisions financially to add to his situation buy it's not as hard to conceive as one might think.

It's why you never hear about the people who win the lottery and make sound financial decisions to create wealth for their future generations. We only hear about the people who win the jackpots, only to be out on their asses 5 years later after squandering it all in a blink of an eye.

Oh, good. I'm glad to hear…

Oh, good. I'm glad to hear he has some integrity and sense of self-worth...

Poor, AP. His career went…

Poor, AP. His career went south as quick as the flip of a switch.

I bet you a glazed old…

I bet you a glazed old fashioned donut this year’s CFP games have some type of sponsorship associated with them.

I’m not saying he’s the…

I’m not saying he’s the model of ethical recruiting practices or he’s never hosted a recruit without a few hundos sticking out his back pocket but you can’t deny that people listen when the dude talks and his words carry weight, whether deservedly so or not. And right now, his words seem to make a lot of sense.

Fact is, the shady tactics he and most other SEC coaches used in the past is now the standard for building your roster. He’s still saying pay the players and acknowledge the benefits of NIL but shares most casual fans perspective that most players don’t make it to the NFL and need something to fall back on.

At the end of the day, a degree from the University of Alabama or Mississippi State isn’t going to blow a potential employer away during an interview but it’s a hell of a lot better than “I chased a cash offer for 3 years, learned nothing, and now I’m broke, so can I please have job?”

The more that I think about…

The more that I think about Howard’s initial years as the coach, I’m starting to wonder if he inherited Beilein’s steady roster and then freaked out when his own roster construction wasn’t falling into place.

To his credit, he has definitely tried to get some big name players and has hit some road blocks but you need to be able to reload, not revamp in MBB.

I hate to say it but maybe Howard needed a little more head coaching experience before stepping into this role.

Both the board and Brian…

Both the board and Brian/Seth have covered potential replacement coaches I believe.

The truth is out there…

Well, obligatory “Fire Warde…

Well, obligatory “Fire Warde”.

Now that that’s out of the way, Harbaugh really went out of his way to change his staff, their schemes, and refocusing their goals by really getting his players to buy-in, if you will.

Howard has just this season, kept most of his staff, has continued to bumble in-game situations while crumbling in most 2nd-halves, and seems to have lost his locker room by putting players down.

This is not an upward trajectory and I think we can all agree the team just seems lost as does Howard.

Just start your own damn B1G…

Honestly, just start your own damn B1G/SEC league already.

Not that I agree with that sentiment but this posturing is the equivalent of the bigger neighborhood kids making up rules to a made-up game that makes it seem like it’s fair to everyone but truly only favors the bigger kids on the block.

A bit of forewarning: Those big kids usually get tired of beating up on everyone else and eventually decide to play by themselves…

Surprised to hear he’s…

Surprised to hear he’s leaving Hogwarts U but glad to have him aboard. Based on his last name alone, I’m sure he’ll cast a spell or two to keep the team healthy.

So who do we talk to about…

So who do we talk to about removing the unofficial title of “insider” to some of these guy’s roles?

I get that their initial reports may be correct and that reporting on potential rumors is part of the job but I can’t think of too many other professions where people are allowed less credibility and keep their jobs.

I can’t imagine coming into work on a Monday morning and saying to my boss “Sorry my report that was sent out to hundreds of thousands of people was completely false and unfounded” and my boss replying with “No problem. Keep up the good work”.

I’m curious of this as well…

I’m curious of this as well. I think the most we’ve received so far “Expected to hire” but nothing official.

I hate to beat a dead horse but I hope Moore has someone helping advise him on hiring/vetting potential staff whether he asks for the help or not. I think Jack Harbaugh would be great in an advising role given his experience and connections but c’est la vie.

With the amount of player…

With the amount of player rotation that happens in most secondaries, not to mention specific schemes that call for extra DBs, I find it difficult that the tag “starter” is so important to this position group considering we haven’t even made it to spring game yet.

Additionally, both Paige and Moore have dealt with recent injuries and in-season starting roles are subject to change.

I’m all for players finding a landing spot to start 100% of the time and make it to the NFL but let’s not act like that wasn’t a possibility for him by remaining on the roster and at least making it to the first game of the season.

I always find posts like…

I always find posts like this amusing as if someone from MGoBlog is knocking on Hart’s door asking for an interview. It’s an internet blog post on a message board. I don’t think we’re crossing any lines here or planning to hack into his tech devices anytime soon. Speculation is fine in small doses like these.

It’s not like OP…

It’s not like OP specifically mentioned personal items that Coach Hart might be dealing with. He more or less acknowledged the lack of insight given to his current status. Hart has done a tremendous job imo and I’m sure with the recent coaching shakeup he’s had to put some career goals into perspective.

I don’t see anything wrong with the OP and I don’t think it’s anywhere near the amount of inflammatory gossip that gets thrown around on this board as of late as if it’s a high school lunch table with the Mean Girls.

I think the OP brings up a…

I think the OP brings up a much larger point about the mental and psychological demands of coaching in college sports, most notably football.

It’s no secret the toll it takes on a coach to have to recruit, game plan, scout/watch film, talk to the media, and coach on Saturdays, not to mention have a life outside of your profession. This is not a job where work/life boundaries really exist and those most committed to their jobs likely have the best results. To say college coaches are under a lot of pressure is an understatement.

All this is to say that I hope Coach Hart is able to deal with the constraints of the job and handle his business at home in the ever-changing jungle that is the current state of college football.

At first I thought you were…

At first I thought you were referring to one of those weird-ass named AAU basketball teams. Haven’t heard of the moniker of Central Ohio Business Boys in case you were wondering if that was catching on…

In related news, I wonder if the Southeast Michigan Corporate Crew will let go of Howard any time soon.

Also, if Morris is WR2, who…

Also, if Morris is WR2, who is WR1 and why?

If you say S. Morgan, we’re gonna have a bad time because although he has done a hell of a great job in his Steve Breaston impersonation, there’s a few other WRs I’d like to see him model his pass-catching game after before he’s announced as the top WR.

If anyone is WR1, it has to Loveland just based on film.
