CFB Risk Day 16 – WELCOME TO THUNDERDOME, WISCONSIN

Submitted by crg on February 7th, 2023 at 2:19 PM

Note: Today's recap is a joint effort along with East Coast Esq., whom we are all glad to hear is making a recovery. Well done, soldier.

Now then…

“You called down the thunder, well now you’ve got it.” – some guy

Wisconsin wanted war – so we gave them war. In a single night they lost nearly half of their land, most of it to Michigan but also to Iowa State, Nebraska and – oh look, Texas A&M… who would have guessed that A&M could also be a threat?  Now we’re in position to threaten every single territory they still hold… you hear that Michigan rogues? Are you happy with your choices, Bucky? Still want to do this?

Interestingly enough, the current map kind of mirrors the habitat ranges of wolverines and badgers. Wolverines have a foothold in northern Canada, whereas badgers are further south. That’s cool and all, but wolverines are highly territorial, solitary creatures that need A LOT of space, and there are a lot of us in this game (Chart? CHART!).

Do you understand what I’m saying with this overdrawn metaphor? It’s simple: the Wisconsin Badgers need to go. We’re taking the North for Michigan.

Also, well f*cking done on getting our numbers up! We LOVE seeing that spike, AND we know we can do even better. Keep submitting your moves every day (that streak matters); keep entering which “order” you’re executing; and remember to recruit your friends!

Your friends may start as 1-stars, but with just a bit of development, they’ll be the next Ronnie Bell in no time.

Map Time? MAP TIME.

Oh, Caaaaaaanada!

Short summary of the fronts:

Canada & Pacific Northwest = open season on Wisconsin.

East Coast = Michigan up north & osu down south. Georgia Tech keeps poking around.

Greater Midwest = osu has Ohio and we have most of the rest. Tennessee pushing up from the south.

US Southeast = Mostly osu & Georgia Tech pushing back and forth. Bama as firewall for Texas A&M.  Florida exists.

The Rockies and West Coast = Texas A&M slowly gobbling up smaller teams.  Nebraska now among them.

US Southwest, Mexico, & Caribbean = AGGIE DEATH STAR nearing completion. Eventually somebody is going to find an exhaust port, right?

Happy hunting and GO BLUE!

I can't understand Wisconsin's game plan here, unless their only goal was to make sure that we don't win.  The could've easily held the entirety of the corn belt and vanquished Iowa State, while Nebraska ventured West (which was a risk move that didn't pay off for them), instead they led a half effort assault on the largest army in the game.  They complained about what a few rogues did to their territories; they saw what a focused attacked looks like and will continue to do so.  They went from being in a good position to being one of the few teams still alive at the end to being a toss up to survive longer than Iowa State in a single roll.

Maybe it's time for me to stop following Discord and go rogue. Every move I've made for the past 5 turns has either resulted in us losing the territory if defending, or not winning it if attacking. I'm getting a little paranoid. Do my pits stink? Do I have spinach stuck in my teeth? Are my clothes out of style? Am I driving the wrong car / living in the wrong neighborhood / sending my kids to the wrong schools? Do I need to hire a coach to teach defense? What?

Yeah, I don't always agree with the "leadership".  We went from almost controlling 5 territories (would have been an unbelievable advantage) to barely hanging on to one . . .
Wisconsins' strategy of denying us region advantages has almost worked, and they may be aligned with OSU who hit us from the south.
But I usually post my moves and follow orders, and I hope we can ally or crush Wisky in the next 2 rounds.

For you rogues I give the same advice as yesterday (smash Bucky) with 1 additional observation: we need one more territory (Annapolis) to own the Mid-Atlantic region outright and gain another strength multiplier. The current owner of Annapolis? (an)OSU! 'nuff said.

Annapolis is a great little town. Learned to sail there a lifetime ago. No, not the Naval Academy, the Annapolis Sailing School. Well, to be fair, the wind was lousy that week, so I did more drinking than sailing, and I've done a LOT more drinking than sailing since then.  Maybe I should say I learned to drink there instead.

But, I digress. Tonight we take Annapolis  and wipe the Badgers off the map. Buckeyes next. Go Blue.
