CFB Risk Day 4: IT BEGINS

Submitted by CFB Risk on Reddit on January 24th, 2023 at 2:45 PM

First....I know that this is the SECOND Risk post today. That was due to a lack of coordination and I apologize for clogging the Board today. Future updates will come from this account (h/t to Seth for creating it!).

With that said, it's time to unleash the full fury of the MGoHorde on the Reddit community.

But why, you may ask, did we wait for Day 4 to step on the gas? Simple -- because our power is so vast, the CFB Risk creators NERFED us so that other, lesser schools weren't immediately eliminated. Seriously! For the first 3 days, we weren't allowed to attack. Which is why MSU controls most of Michigan and Notre Dame controls Kalamazoo.

Our shackles, however, have been removed, and now we can bring our plebeian neighbors to their knees as we conquer the United Sta--

Oh wait, make that North America. Yes, the map has vastly expanded in this iteration of Risk. We are no longer constrained by our nation's borders. Instead, the battlegrounds stretch from the northernmost reaches of Canada, all the way to the Yucatan Peninsula. Given that the Michigan community has already conquered space, it feels fitting that our dominance this year will be international in nature.

So, are you in? If so, look below for instructions on how to join the fight and be sure to put in your move every day. Consistency is the key to gaining power and, ultimately, glory.

And if you think this is dumb and a waste of time....then please take these posts as an opportunity to feel superior to the >272 of us who are taking time out of our real lives for this silly game.

Steps To Play Every Day

(1) Sign up for a reddit.com account if you don’t have one already

(2) Visit collegefootballrisk.com – Click Sign in with Reddit – Select Michigan as your team

(3) Join the Michigan Risk discord by going to https://discord.gg/9xtrWhyR

(4) Go to the "vetting" channel and type in your MGoBlog username and Reddit username.

(5) Once vetted, get your orders from the "orders" channel.

(6) Return to collegefootballrisk.com – Click on the "target" icon at the bottom of the page (3rd button from the right), and then click on the territory you're attacking or defending.

(7) Talk trash with your fellow Wolverines as we prepare for tonight's roll.

How Does the Game Work?

It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

I can't tell whether I'm more annoyed that Sparty has laid claim to Windsor or that it will take Michigan at least two days to fix that error since "Ann Arbor" (territory) isn't considered to be bordering on "Toronto".

Just put in my info for vetting. Waiting to be approved and get my orders like a loyal soldier.

Half a league, half a league,

Half a league onward...

I'm in - right now I'm defending A2 against Sparts and Domers with my 2 stars.  I signed up on the discord but don't know how to know if I'm vetted or what the command center wants me to do.

If you can't get into the Discord (or whatever), and if you have a reddit account, then just go to https://collegefootballrisk.com/, link to your reddit account, select Michigan as your team, and attack Lansing or South Bend or whatever. Attack everyday until the bitter end. It helps to coordinate, but the concepts at work here aren't that complex.

Go get 'em!

For full disclosure I find the whole CFB Risk thing a little too akin to 'Vote for my kid!!!' posts on facebook to actually go through the steps and click the buttons, but I hope you win.

Also - reminder not to discuss your orders here. Well known that the rivals (looking at you Rutger and Illinois) come here to gather intel about our daily plans.

I don’t have reddit anymore so no more cfbrisk for me. I’m sure the leaders are actually happy with that since Bambi and I just up and made a rebel group to go rogue with our votes each day. Will wish our crew luck from afar!
