Worst refs ever, thats saying a lot as we have seen a lot of games in East Lansing, Columbus and South Bend.

Live near Columbia, SC. Last night stopped at Publix to grab a few supplies and talking to the cashier they had ran out of water earlier in the day but when I was there the shelves were about half full. Not looking forward to possibly having no power for a few days but some people buy like they're going to without for 2 weeks!

09/08/2018 - 7:28pm More than likely this team…

More than likely this team is good enough to pummel lesser teams like Western, win against mediocre teams but struggle against teams with any kind of good defense and a pulse on offense. This game doesn't change a lot but it is good to seem them putting away teams that they should and I think we can all agree this team really needed a confidence shot.

Not a good start on D... BUT, they almost had them in a 3 and out. Get to the QB a step quicker and its another story on that first 3rd down. Let them score quick and we'll wear out their defense running the ball down their throats, they're built for spread.

Easy answers, growing up my Dad was a Pontiac man so while I've only owned one in my lifetime I've always liked the muscle. Bring back the GTO and the Trans Am as their own cars, not based on something else or imported from Australia. A Camaro with a T/A body kit still looks like a Camaro and I'm not a Chevy fan.

Thanks for changing the background color, it really helps break it up and makes it more readable.

I have not named any car I've ever owned. None seemed that special or to have a personality to be worthy of a name. They're simply transportation.

07/17/2018 - 6:42pm Slightly less. I check it…

Slightly less. I check it less at work but that could be because of the current workload but the biggest thing is without the app I don't check it on my phone even though I have the shortcut.

07/02/2018 - 7:03pm Live in Lexington, SC and…

Live in Lexington, SC and have been here 3 years.

Pros:

1. It never snows here, well I have heard tales of snow and ice but have yet to see any.

2. HUGE Lake Murray only about 2 miles away from my house.

3. Winters are short and not unbearable

4. One of cheapest gas prices in the country due to low gas taxes

5. The ocean is only 2 hours away

6. The Mrs and I LOVE Charleston, which again is only 2 hours away.

7. Florida and all its vacation spots are only a few hours away.

8. Did I mention there is a short winter?

9. I like Clemson, anywhere I live I adopt a team. Previously in Cincinnati it was Xavier (least offensive team in that area), here I liked Clemson because like UM they have history and tradition.

Cons:

1. They can't drive here, everyday I-20 and I-26 have an accident that shuts them down. Lexington is the busiest traffic I've ever encountered short of Houston or Atlanta.

2. The summer heat and humidity is brutal. The Midlands of SC are known for their humidity.

3. Hurricanes

4. SEC

5. SEC

6. SEC

7. Again bad drivers. Slowest turners in the world and they haven't seen a red light they won't run. I actually wait 5 seconds on a green and look both ways.

8. Did I mention the bloody hot and humid summers?

I know its supposed to be top 3 but its too hard to decide. Even top 5 I had to leave out some people I think are very deserving. But there it is, my top 5.

I agree on the white space and thin fonts. It makes an aging guy like me have to squint to read. Reminds me of being in a sterile office space with nothing but white walls.

05/30/2018 - 4:30pm Awesome

Just plain ol' awesome! Does it get any better than this?

05/30/2018 - 8:46am That's where I came from

That's where I came from as well. I couldn't for th life of me remember the name of the site though. I got there after we lost to in the Alamo Bowl in 2005. I was so done with Carr at that point I went looking for a place to vent. That place saw me through the Horror and the first year of RR. What I liked was that there were several OSU fans so the banter kept us sharp, plus they did contests with some cool sports memorablia. That said, when the end came I too made the move here although I had been lurking for awhile. The banter here has always been different so I don't post as much as I just read. But as early as 2008 this was my go to site for inofrmation.

05/10/2018 - 2:12pm Agreed

Good points made on why Jordan is the better player. The defenses were better then, there was higher level of talent top to bottom because of less players and there were many more dominant big men in the league who would punish you for going inside.

More than anything, I think the part people miss is that Jordan had that killer instinct, ice flowed through his veins and he would do whatever it took to beat you. He wanted to win, plain and simple. Along with that he liked to get into his opponents heads. LBJ likes to win, he's a great talent and player, but I've never heard anyone say he has that "win no matter what" mentality. When the game is on the line you knew Jordan would get the ball, its not always the case with LBJ. Yes, he has learned to carry a team on his shoulders but Jordan was doing that from the get go. Remember, in LBJ's first Cav's stint the knock was that he couldn't carry a team, clearly he has learned to carry a team but I'm not so sure he has the same killer instinct as Jordan did.

Another thing about Jordan, whenever he was criticized for a flaw in his game, he would work on it until it became a strength. For instance, when he came into the league he was all offense and no defense. I remember him being roundly criticized for it. He worked on it over the summer a couple of years into the league and before long he was transformed into a Defensive MVP. If nothing else its the intangibles that make Jordan the GOAT over LBJ, who in his own right is a great player. The next question is: LBJ or Wilt?

04/15/2018 - 2:22pm West Michigan here

West Michigan here and you're right, great place to be FROM and I don't miss the cold and winter weather at all. Been in the 70's - 80's where I live for a over a month now with the occassional drop to the 50's. I generally get to cut my grass from late February up into December every year. Don't feel bad for me, I have a very small yard. :)

04/14/2018 - 12:15pm Blizzard of '78

I remember that one well. I was 9 years old and my dad got stuck at work so my mom and I went out and began clearing all the very large branches in the driveway and trying to shovel out. For several days the best way to get around was by snowmobile.

04/09/2018 - 4:26pm Charleston

Charleston, SC would be my choice. It’s our fav place to vacation since we’ve moved to the state and it would be a great place to live. Luckily it’s less than a 2 hr drive from where we live.

02/24/2018 - 6:02pm I wouldn't

I wouldn't read too much into this. Every player mentioned so far has been allowed to continue playing. There is only one person who is sitting the pine and thats Sean Miller, no players have yet been suspended as universities seem to be taking the course of try to win and hope you don't get Louisville'd.

There will be suspensions coming and penalties assessed. Remember we are moving at NCAA speed on this one. Only good thing is they will have FBI evidence to stand on instead of trying to find someone willing to squeal on their program.

02/09/2018 - 10:04am 265 now

Latest numbers I saw were 265 per what the judge said. The legal team is going to be busy for a long time.

01/29/2018 - 8:09am Would anyone listen

Up until a few months ago would anyone have listened? Up until Weinstein happened sexual assault and abuse stories got a small amount of press and in this it wasn’t an assault so would have been a non story, one that we as Michigan fans would have railed on about but national media would have dropped it quickly. Until the past few months how many of us have spoken out against sexual assault especially in sports? Every time a new story happens we talk about it for a few minutes and then we move on. We have an issue in the sports world and culture in general. We need to change that.

01/27/2018 - 9:20am Amazing

Amazing how this has gone on for so long and at such a large scale. For years the warnig signs have been there with player after player being accused of sexual assault at MSU only to be let off the hook. And then Nassar happens with over 150 women at this point and we find that in just a 2 year span 37 women were sexually assaulted by athletes at MSU. That tells me there are many, many more and this can of worms has just been opened.

Each and every case is far too many but the overwhelmingly large number of known cases to this point already shows a culture at MSU that turns a blind eye in the search for results on the field. They have sold their soul in the desire to be a sports giant. Many schools have gone this route in turning a blind eye at things happening in their program but this has reached a new level. MSU needs to burn it all to the ground and start over with their administration and Athletic Department.

12/11/2017 - 1:54pm Lurkers

We lurkers especially hate the UNACCETABLES. We are here for the true pleasure of reading without having to wade through the mass of snark that in reality is just garbage. LURKERS UNITE!

12/05/2017 - 12:54pm Well

This calls for a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY MGOBLOG!!!

I first started lurking here after the Appy State disaster. I needed an outlet but didn't join right away. Still mostly lurk but have enjoyed the great content from Brian and Co.

11/29/2017 - 10:00am Could get ugly

Could get ugly for me if this is the case, I live near Columbia in the heart of Gamecock country. Win or lose I'm the only Michigan fan I know so I will get piled on but I can take it.

That said, this is a good matchup for UM. Don't be concerned about looking at opponents, blah-blah-blah. Carolina is even more one dimensional than we are, they have a good but not great defense and a horrible offense. Their QB is not accurate, I can see UM's defense absolutely blowing this team up. If Peters is healthy we can beat them handily, if JOK is behind center we still beat them but it oculd be a major defensive struggle.

That said I see a score of something like 24-10.

10/14/2017 - 2:43pm Its time

Its time to at least try someone, anyone at QB other than JOK. He's simply not getting it done. Trouble making passes, zeroes in on WR's and gets a delay of game call. This offense is simply offensive right now.

09/29/2017 - 6:18pm Soccer

Our youngest has soccer tournament this weekend, so will be doing that with the wife. SO I guess it counts.

09/18/2017 - 5:06pm Filmora

I am a staff pastor at our church, one of my jobs is doing all in-house videos. I don't know what his video setup is but if he's stationary make sure to get a good tripod rather than doing say selfie videos or having someone hold camera or phone.

For video editing I always used iMovie previously. Its easy to learn and use but not many bells and whistles. Recently I discovered Filmora which also has an app you can use on your phone/tablet. Lots of upgrades for it as well so it can get pricey on that end but the initial cost is low, I believe it was around $50 for a one device lifetime subscription. Has lots of options right off the bat as well. He can always try a demo version, which has a watermark, but at least get a feel for it and figure it out.

Biggest advice, check out Youtube. Always lots of "how to" videos on there.

Another good source for putting in images with wording is Wordswag for the phone.

09/10/2017 - 8:48pm Chicken or the egg?

Does IU have a good pass offense because they are good? Or are they ranked high because OSU has a bad pass defense which made them look good? After yesterdays games I would lean toward the latter.

09/07/2017 - 5:37pm No

Never in this lifetime, or any other.

09/06/2017 - 3:36pm Another one for Clemson

I too have Clemson as my 2nd team for various reasons.

First, I always like to have a local team wherever I live as my 2nd favorite team just to have someone local to root for and talk about with my friends and neighbors. I live in SC so its either Clemson or Carolina (around here there is only one Carolina). Clemson wins that battle because first of all they have tradition. As a UM fan I greatly appreciate traditions at other schools, Clemson has that going for it. Secondly, I have family members who are fans or are attending there. While their main color is orange, I'm just glad its not that god-awful TN orange but I will say Carolina has some great colors, just no tradition.

Next I'd say whoever is playing OSU, MSU and Notre Dame not to mention about a dozen other schools I greatly dislike. Since Clemson always manages to dismantle OSU or get their coach fired seems like a good team to cheer for. Doesn't hurt that they just won the NC and I really admire and like Dabo.

09/06/2017 - 8:29am Ouch

That's gonna be rough to face us, get pulverized and then the following week play their big rivalry game.

09/02/2017 - 3:46pm He gone

He's gonna get called for targeting and thrown out. That's how these things go for us.

08/31/2017 - 10:09pm JT

JT not looking good at all. Is it just me or is he completely missing receivers? A 5th year, 5 star QB should be better than that.

08/31/2017 - 8:33pm Nice start

Nice start for IU but can they maintain it? I have my doubts, plus OSU is notorious for starting games slow.

08/29/2017 - 9:02am Indiana State

Indiana State my good man, Larry Bird played at Indiana State.

RIP Coach Heathcote. He was a fine coach and a great man. I truly respected him.

08/25/2017 - 9:26am Ditto

These things always seem to come back and bite us.

08/25/2017 - 9:24am Walmart

I hate Walmart. I hate their parking lots. I hate their propensity to have way too few checkout lines open. I hate their desire to check anyone walking out with something not in a bag, "dude you literally saw me checking out not 10 feet from you!" (I will fit large things in bags just to avoid getting checked during my exit). I hate how their associates cannot possibly be bothered by you.

One huge minus about living in the South....no Meijer. I really miss Meijer.

08/21/2017 - 8:40am South Carolina

I live in South Carolina and I live and work just a couple of miles form the very center of eclipse totality, so well within the path. I am working today, although many people were given the day off because of traffic fears so my journey to work this morning was easier than usual. All that said I may step out and take a peek at the event when it occurs.

07/03/2017 - 1:24pm I prefer

I prefer to think of the 4th of July as my birthday. :)

07/03/2017 - 1:23pm Execution used until about 1820

This method for of execution was used by the Bristish up until about 1820. It was rarely used in the last few decades and still was a punishment for treason, but it was still used. Public opinion had turned against its use sometime around the turn of the century and executioners at times would have to find refuge after carrying out the sentence. In comparison as late as 1781 pieces of an executed body were fought over by the crowd in attendance. Tens of thousands would attend the executions as well and the sentence being carried out would be loudly cheered.

The last few instances of exection had several members of conspiracies executed so no singular case. In the Despard Plot alone in 1803, the 7 found guilty were all drawn, hanged and quartered.

06/28/2017 - 8:54am 1969 Boss Mustang

The first car I ever fell in love with was because I was into model cars as a kid and I got this one. 1969 Boss Mustang with the 429. Beautiful car, have always wanted one but alas it will never be.

06/13/2017 - 12:31pm Shocked!

I am absolutely shocked that this thread is still open with the stringent rules that have always been in place about politics and religion.

05/29/2017 - 9:18pm MJ faced legends

MJ didn't just face HOFers, but legends. Albeit some were nearing the end of their career but some of the most legendary players ever in the NBA are who MJ faced.

Celtics: Larry Bird, Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson, Reggie Lewis, Kevin McHale, Robert Parrish, Bill Walton

Lakers: Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jubar, AC Green, James Worthy

Portland: Danny Ainge, Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey

Pistons: Isaiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Mark Aquire

Jazz: best pick-n-roll combo in NBA history with Karl Malone and John Stockton

Suns: Danny Ainge, Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle

So many great players that were faced and most of these teams had deep benches as well.

13 of these guys were voted as part of the 50 greatest NBA players ever in 1996. There are some good players in the NBA right now, but only a handful that could be considered legends, one of them is Lebron. Jordan played in a day when the paint was congested and he excelled going there. Lebron plays in a day where the floor is more spread because of the emphasis on the 3 point shot. More and more big men aren't playing down low because their man is outside. In MJ's day, entering the paint was a trip to pain town, aka the Jordan Rules.

Lastly, Jordan was both a scoring and defensive machine. The main weakness I can see is lack of 3 pt shot, yet despite that Jordan has the edge in scoring and he did it in a way that defied gravity. Lebron is a great player, I just don't think he's quite at the level of MJ.

05/29/2017 - 5:39pm New guy always looks better

New guy always looks better in comparison, especially to those who never watched older player. As others have pointed out those teams Jordan had to play against; the Lakers, Celtics and Bad Boys were dynasties filled with All Star and HOF players. Lebron has not had to face any team that great, although the Warriors could make a case in the end. The rules also favored more contact back then, remember the "Jordan Rules"?

Another case I'd make, I don't know that you can say Lebron is a better defender other than because he has the better stats at the few defensive stats that are kept. The fact is Jordan was 1st team defense 9 seasons compared to Lebron's 5 and Jordan was a defensive player of the year. In football terms he was a shut down corner, you simply were not going to beat him. If you happened to beat him he would come right back at you and make you look silly.

The last thing that absolutely cannot be quantified was Jordan's killer instinct. He wanted to win badly. I don't doubt many others, including Lebron, really want to win. But no one had that desire that I've ever seen like MJ. End of the game, tie score, you give the ball to MJ in isolation and watch the magic happen.

05/27/2017 - 11:46am Brutus, but not that Brutus

My favorite dog ever was one I got when I was about 10 and he passed away when I was 19. I got him from my uncle because he couldn't keep him anymore and he saw how much I loved Brutus. He was a mix of boxer and Saint Bernard. His body looked like a boxer but was stockier and his face was more Saint Bernard with the Boxer's short hair. He was the most friendly dog I've ever been around.

My favorite memories were of playing catch for hours, he would go swimming with us at the lake and he would carry anything around including rocks. The only time I ever saw him snap at anyone was with the neighbor girl who would throw rocks at him, otherwise he was the most gentle dog and very loyal.

His only misfortune was being named after a certain nut mascot, but I think he was named Brutus because he was a big brute.

05/23/2017 - 9:18am Mustang

I always have and always will love Mustangs, although I've only ever personally owned one, a 2003 GT.

My favorite Ford car ever is the 1969 Mustang Boss 429.

05/17/2017 - 10:29pm Ditto

I too am a Pastor, only I'm a Children's Pastor. Best job in the world, although to tell the truth I spend most of my time doing church admin work rather than kidmin. Did my time in the corporate world before my life was changed and after that the need burned in me to serve. Kids really broke my heart and once I worked with them I never looked back.

05/13/2017 - 1:02pm Rivalries?

While I applaud the plan, in theory it could work, but what about non-conference rivalries?

Clemson vs South Carolina

Iowa vs Iowa State

Georgia vs Georgia Tech

Notre Dame vs Stanford

Notre Dame vs USC

Florida vs Florida State

Kansas vs Mizzou

Cincinnati vs Louisville

Since according to your plan you play only one team from the other three conferences each year some of these teams would only play their rival once every 16 years and Cincinnati would never play Louisville other than maybe in meaningless exhibition. This takes away the very spirit of CFB, rivalries that have been bred over decades and even a century for some. Tradition is what CFB is and should be about.
