It's rather concise by recent standards.

Other OP's may have titled it "FutureCast is Rivals' version of 247's Crystal Ball. Evans' general use of this tends to be more of a "how the flow of the recruitment is going" thing rather than the Sam Webb or Evan Daniels "done deal" style FWIW. Link to the FutureCast Link to Christopher's 247 profile"

People here are underestimating his star power, maybe because Todd has t signed yet....   He is a cool cat and the top players want to come here, and what's cool is if takes the court in practice with the current players he is the best one on court.  He's building a monster here, standing on the shoulders of Beileins work.

Well that's one explanation.

Parents wanting their kids to play under a 19yr NBA veteran who has won a championship and a guy who was part of the legendary Fab Five shouldn't be dismissed either.

Juwan is a guy that overcame a lot of things, growing up in a single parent family, growing up on the rough east side of Chicago, becoming an McDonald's AA and being a top 5 draft pick...and still graduating with his class even through he left early must be unbelievably impressive to most parents.

If it happens that he's skirting the edges of recruiting, like virtually all the blue bloods do, I have zero issue with it...

Edit: sorry south side of Chicago

I would call Michigan Avenue the center...so still room for ""East" Chicago...though East Chicago is an Indiana city. East Chicago Washington was the undefeated Indiana state champion in '71-an outstanding team.

Edit: Trgovich won two NCs at UCLA, Bridgeman was a star at Louisville-drafted #8 overall by the Lakers, I believe Stoddard went to North Carolina State-a 2 sport star...he pitched in the majors. Quite the team.

When you think about it, his personal narrative is as compelling as any NBA player in history, current or former.

  • Raised by his grandmother in the roughest part of Chicago but managed to stay out of trouble
  • McDonald's All-American
  • Grandmother died the day he signed his LOI
  • Was part of the iconic Fab Five
  • Played in two national championship games
  • Not implicated in the Ed Martin scandal
  • Top 5 NBA draft pick
  • First player to leave his college team early to play in the NBA but still graduate on time with his class
  • Got his degree to fulfill a promise he made to his grandmother
  • NBA All-Star
  • Had a 19-year career in the NBA and was the oldest active player in the league at one point
  • 2-time NBA Champion

there's been a number of posters who have said that, but I haven't seen it stated from a source i would consider legit... not saying its not true though.

It's a bit of a bizarre rule, imo... so the kid gets a official, which he is entitled to and which schools have an allotment to give out to whomever they want... and that precludes him from walking on?

the NCAA sure seems to emphasize enforcing the wrong things while acting totally oblivious to things that they should actually care about.

Impossible. Michigan can't recruit McDonalds All Americans because of bagman and academic standards, or so I was told.

Christopher is dynamite. If Juwan gets this guy then it'll be insane. I'll probably start flying in for allichigan basketball games and be totally hyped for the bball program (already am but damn this team would be all time great I'm the near future)

Future is bright. Go blue !

I know it's most likely not going to happen but if Michigan signed who we have committed already and added Brown and Christopher, Michigan would have the number one class in the country. That's crazy that this is even possible in Howard's first year.

i personally am enjoying the folks who are arguing this is evidence we can achieve the exact same recruiting results in football, a different sport. really thoughtful stuff.

anyway, if josh christopher joins the class, it will be comprised of 5 of the 7 most highly rated recruits on the team by the 247 composite (only one metric, i know). only zavier and brandon johns would be ranked among this class. incredibly impressive.

Juwan seems like a genuinely good guy not a cocky “look at me, I was a star, bow to me”. But he also seems cool enough to relate to young players, probably because his boys are that age. That combo has to be killer at in home visits. I think he’s going to need to make a good run in the next 1-3 years to sustain this level of recruiting.
