I wish he was a baller, I wish he had a girl if he did he would call her...

great song

07/15/2018 - 10:19am He literally the same size…

He literally the same size and weight as 2 different 2018 one and dones.

07/15/2018 - 10:16am Yeah, if we were going to…

Yeah, if we were going to miss on a high priority target, it was lucky that it was at PG.

We are loaded at PG for the next 3 years.

07/14/2018 - 7:24pm What part seems outrageous? …

What part seems outrageous?  The part about OSU looking up or the part about Carton having trouble beating out the 3 PGs already on Michigan’s roster.

07/14/2018 - 7:20pm Maizen told me that Beilein…

Maizen told me that Beilein couldn’t recruit basketball players so he started going after football players.

when Carton bailed on us, he decided to pursue Ford.

07/14/2018 - 3:47pm Yes, I want any guy named…

Yes, I want any guy named Rocket.  The fact that he is a local kid and would seem to be a good complement to DeJulius makes it all the better.

07/14/2018 - 3:43pm I would say that we need to…

I would say that we need to look at SG.  We seem thin there, especially if Poole goes early to the NBA (which I think is likely).

07/14/2018 - 3:40pm If I remember right, wasn’t…

If I remember right, wasn’t C.J. Walker a combo guard?  Or did he lose his job to a combo guard?

either way, he and Luther are not as deep a room as Simpson, Brooks and DeJulius.

07/14/2018 - 3:33pm I don’t personally disagree…

I don’t personally disagree with you - but try convincing a 17 year old 5 star (who probably has all of his friends, family and coaches telling him he is going to the NBA) that he is not going to be a 1 and Done.

I would also throw in that Holtmann did a good job at Butler with player development.  So this is not a totally irrational choice.

I guess I could see it either way.

07/14/2018 - 3:19pm Honestly doesn’t seem like…

Honestly doesn’t seem like that bad of a decision to me.  He probably wants to be a 1 and done and OSU looked like an improved team under Holtmann.

He would be looking up at Simpson, Brooks and DeJulius (or at least 2 of these 3) his freshman year.  Even assuming he can beat out DeJulius and / or Brooks in 2020 - he would be a minimum 2 and done at Michigan.

This kid will start right away at OSU and get his 1 and done shot.

07/14/2018 - 3:12pm Where is Maizen when you…

Where is Maizen when you need him?  /s

stinks because Carton looks like a stud but PG  at Michigan is absolutely loaded for the next 3-4 years.

I am perfectly fine with Beilein skipping a PG is 2019 and waiting until 2020.

07/14/2018 - 6:12am What are you talking about??…

What are you talking about???  The 2021 season?  How could you possibly know anything about anything for that season as of today?

07/13/2018 - 9:06pm I was laughing when a few…

I was laughing when a few Morans on this board were complaining that Gary was underperforming.  He got doubled on 80% of plays and even tripled at times.

Interesting, I was reading Hurst’s draft profile (pre-heart concern) and one of the only things that they dinged him with was the fact that he played next to Gary - and offenses had been schemed to specifically focus on Gary.  Only other ding was that he was not well suited, size-wise for an NFL 3-4 scheme.

07/13/2018 - 11:00am How could they possibly know…

How could they possibly know better?  /s

Anyway, this seems like the last season for Ash.

07/12/2018 - 4:17pm Yeah, agreed.  Dude needs to…

Yeah, agreed.  Dude needs to get off his high horse.  People get that upset  being trolled about local candidates in AA?

If the Mods were throwing in comments re: Trump, Obama, Sessions, abortion, 2nd amendment, etc... debates - that is different because those are contentious topics.

Is this really what Rivals prospect pages look like?  Or is this some sort of error page?

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2018/aidan-hutchinson-20622

If so, I think they have given up as well.

07/11/2018 - 12:52pm I am not part of the PC…

I am not part of the PC police or anything like that so I didn't want to imply that you said something wrong.  I understood that you were flattering both guys.

I just thought German Rashan Gary added something to the reference.  Like I said, in any case, let's hope God and the Universe make it so!

07/11/2018 - 11:49am I would have said a German…

I would have said a German Rashan Gary, but either way, let’s go with that inflection.

07/09/2018 - 12:15am I appreciate you being…

I appreciate you being honest about being an OSU fan and you don't seem like you are trolling; however, a few notes:

1. OSU was after Chris Hinton and Nolan Rumler and, in fact, continue to reach out to both.  There was some chatter re: Rumler and OSU but he seems to have shut that down.

2. OSU was going hard after Stephen Herron when he committed and, in fact, there is still a CB on OSU for him (for what that is worth) - haven't heard that they are trying to flip him, so maybe not interested anymore

It is a bit ridiculous to say "I think some of Michigan's commits are overrated".  Of course, that could be true, but you could literally say that about every single team's recruiting class.  And you would be right 99% of the time that at least a couple of recruits in every class are overrated.

07/08/2018 - 10:20pm I won't stand for anti-East…

I won't stand for anti-East Quad discrimination on this board :)  From my perspective as a former MoJo residence, all of the Quads are beneath us... LOL...

07/08/2018 - 10:15pm That is fair.  He definitely…

That is fair.  He definitely deserves some credit for the excellent core he put together for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.  I don't think he would have coached them to 10 win seasons (we were heading for a 4-8 record in 2015 based on QBs alone for 2015).

His recruiting collapse in 2014 and 2015 made regression in 2017 inevitable.  9-3 was chalk for 2017 and the season played out exactly as expected except that Michigan should have beaten MSU.  And they should have won the bowl game although who really cares about a glorified exhibition.

07/08/2018 - 9:10pm Seriously dude, this is…

Seriously dude, this is supposed to be fun.  Nobody’s life is on the line.

if you are truly this angry and frustrated about the college choices of 16 and 17 year old kids, you need to start rooting for Bama or just find a new hobby altogether.

i love when Michigan wins but I don’t let losses impact my life.

get some perspective

07/08/2018 - 7:10pm Guy is working hard to troll…

Guy is working hard to troll this recruiting class.  At least he didn’t run and hide like the rest of his brethren during and after commitmas the last two weeks.

Not that ratings math is important but Michigan has a top 10 class in terms of avg ranking - and this will go up over 90 after Charbonnet, Gray and Williams get re-ranked higher.   247 has come out publicly that these are moving up.

Pretty sure that no internet message board has ever “mattered”.  This is entertainment, not life and death.

07/07/2018 - 5:21pm They don’t have people like…

They don’t have people like Michael Jordan and Lebron James.  Those types of athletes only come around once a decade.

07/07/2018 - 5:19pm Lebron would be 6’8” and 215…

Lebron would be 6’8” and 215 lbs if he were a pro soccer player - all of his training the last 20 years would have been different.

Would he be elite? Hard to say, but try stopping him on corner kicks.

Barry Sanders would have been a Maradona- like player and Michael Jordan would have been unstoppable on crosses.

Mine is for a turtle exploration center.  I guess they know I am a dad in the Cayman Islands!

07/07/2018 - 3:00pm Just had a crazy and random…

Just had a crazy and random thought - what if Kevin Durant was a futbol goalie.  His height, wing span, and athleticism would revolutionize the game.

This is why we don't dominate in soccer, if our top athletes were playing, we would be Brazil + Germany on steroids.

07/06/2018 - 4:41pm Difference is that Derrick…

Difference is that Derrick Henry wanted to play RB and Crouch does not.

07/06/2018 - 4:33pm I believe the reason we are…

I believe the reason we are taking less DTs than expected the last two years is that Don Brown is planning to use more 3 man fronts going forward.

Some analyst mentioned that a few months back and it fits the recruiting pattern.

07/06/2018 - 12:45pm A team could do worse than…

A team could do worse than have a 3 point assassin like Robinson as their 12th man.  Even if he is only their for specialty situations - most 12th men never get off the bench in non-garbage time.

wut?  Is that because of the political posts that have been put up?

I live out of the country so I haven't paid any attention.  Has that been a big topic on the Board?

Anyone have an idea when Draftageddon starts?  [Ducks] but seriously, I would love some content.

Let’s not shoot our wad before our partner unbuttons her blouse.

I have to admire AK47, he is the only troll that didn’t run off into the forest when the commit barrage hit his trench.

He is even doing his best to throw shade on the class even as the barrage continues.  He managed to forget about what is potentially an epic DLine haul and overall fantastic defensive recruit class.

I would expect Cade's 247 ranking to move up into the top 200 (he is currently 310 / #10 Pro QB).

Rival's and ESPN are barely trying at this point so who really cares what they do.

Thanks MK

i never understood the negativity around Kurt Taylor.  He may or may not turn into a productive player but why do folks crap on a kid who is just getting started?

07/03/2018 - 9:17pm A valid measure for the…

A valid measure for the services to use is the volume and quantity of offers.  So if an analyst has a kid as a generic 3* and then the kid starts pulling in offers from Bama, Georgia, FSU, OSU, Michigan, etc... then of course the kid is going to get a bump to 4* status. It was one of the reasons that star ratings correlate (not cause) with winning games.

Dantonio is more like Beilein where he is a master of finding underrated players that fit his schemes.  He mixes in a few highly coveted recruits and he has competitive teams.  For some reason the analysts haven’t clued in that players identified by Dantonio should get another look.

So the answer is sort of yes and it actually makes sense.  But no they don’t get a bump just because they commit to Michigan - certainly didn’t help anyone from the 2018 class.

07/03/2018 - 5:30pm I was sure that OSU had…

I was sure that OSU had overrecruited by like 10 players in 2017.  I even put together a Board post that Seth mercifully nuked (he had seen that kind of nonsense before).  The topic never came up and Urban was absolutely fine - probably some firm handshakes behind the scenes - but no story whatsoever.

Every team recruits with attrition built in - the coaches have a sense for the numbers.  If Shea is the starter and then comes back in 2019, Peters will probably do a 3 year grad transfer and I am sure every Michigan fan will understand and support him.  Either way, one of the two will be gone before the 2019 fall camp starts.

A handful of guys will get passed during the 2018 season by players younger than them, in addition to this monster 2019 recruiting class, and will request a transfer.  It is just the way it goes.

07/03/2018 - 5:24pm I got blasted a while back…

I got blasted a while back for a similar post but I agree with you.

- Rashan's mom has a good career so they are not a family that needs the immediate cash.

- All through the recruiting process, she said that he would not automatically hop after 3 years

- Plenty of projected top 10 players return for one last season (look at Clemson's DLine)

In either case, I would never blame someone for making their life dreams come true and getting paid millions to do it.  He seems like a really bright kid and can always go back and get his degree afterwards (hell, if he gets drafted by the Lions, he could do it while he was playing in the NFL).

07/03/2018 - 5:19pm The only projected Viper on…

The only projected Viper on the 2019 roster as of today is Jordan Glasgow.  Of course, good chance that one of the current / 2018 safeties move into that role but otherwise, we need a couple in the 2019 class.

Nobody has mentioned this to my knowledge, but wouldn't Crouch fit the bill for the Viper role????

07/03/2018 - 2:27pm Anyone else notice that none…

Anyone else notice that none of the usual suspects in regards to recruiting have chosen to post in recent days.

You have to love how people that are supposedly "true fans" just wanting the best for the team go quiet during good periods.  The true part of the fan base is supportive and loyal, even if sometimes critical, through thick and thin!

07/03/2018 - 2:25pm I read that he was given a…

I read that he was given a scholarship because there were only 84, so there was one available.  That is what is generally promised to grey shirts.

07/03/2018 - 2:23pm This is a good summary with…

This is a good summary with the exception of Kyle Ford, which was noted in a comment above.  I suppose there will be a decommit or three along with a few new names that are not currently being discussed popping up during the fall.

The flip side to this increased class size is that we need to prepare for a bunch of early leavers for the NFL Draft: Rashan, Shea, Devin Bush, Khaleke (welp) and one or both of Vert and David Long.  Of course, if we really lose most or all of those guys, it will mean that we will have had one hell of a year and, at the least, made a run at the B1G / playoffs.
