There's no way I'm watching five sets/hours of a tennis match.

I also find women's college softball more watchable than college baseball.

If I'm channel surfing and a game is on the line when I don't have a strong rooting interest, I might stick around.  Five hours?  No way.

I think there should be a difference between someone who runs for 20 yards and gets a TD than someone who just runs for 20 yards. This is especially true when the RB could have run for many more yards if the ball was just somewhere else on the field when the play began.

I don't know if this stat is reason for optimism or ongoing anxiety, but Zavier was shooting 44.7% from three having made 17 of 38 shots going into the Northwestern game, but finished the season going an abysmal 7 of 46 or 15.2% over that span.

05/29/2018 - 11:02pm Michigan State slaps the floor Granny-style

bending over from the waist.

Now if you want to see true effort put into a floor slap, check out Jae-Sean Tate

Note the athletic stance, with a far lower center of gravity. Unlike the Sparties, Jae'Sean gave 100% (so much so that he dislocated his shoulder).

05/23/2018 - 11:38pm The NCAA "Label Me" ads irked me

They reminded me of one of the all-time worst ad campaigns which came to be known as the "Drink Schlitz or I'll Kill You" campaign.

George Washington had to resort to executing soldiers to prevent it.

05/12/2018 - 3:31pm His becoming eligible event also changed the point spread

of the Notre Dame game.  Which was surely partially built in before his eligibility became 100% sure.

Sure, you never know, but I'd place my bet on the Top 25 NFL draft prospect.

05/06/2018 - 1:17pm I recall thinking of him as a decent 3 point shooter

but having the yips at the line, and perhaps tailing off at the end of the year.

It was more pronounced than I remembered.  Z's three point shooting was a tale of two ~halves of the season, as can be confirmed from

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/4066377/zavier-simpson

Entering the 1/29 Northwestern game, Z was shooting a very good 44.7% from three having made 17 of 38 shots.

But for the remainder of the season, he shot an abysmal 7 of 46, or a 15.2% over that span.

Cleveland's GM.

Pretty ingenious if you ask me. Just think of it as trading down for the #1 pick next year.

04/22/2018 - 3:04pm Exactly

Harbaugh & Co called a whale of a game against OSU last year.

Now if he'd only had gone with the quarterback of the champion intra-mural team, he'd have won.

Oh, and BTW, he went out and got Shea to address the situation. And Drevno is no longer with the program.

We're you (DeepBlueC) part of the crowd trashing Beilein a couple of years ago? Who would you replace Harbaugh with? C'mon, I want concrete suggestions for a better program.

04/22/2018 - 2:52pm But think of all the money they'll save

04/22/2018 - 2:42pm Auburn also lost to Georgia

04/22/2018 - 1:45pm Who cares about National Championships

04/18/2018 - 10:36pm I thought it was Stud and 4 hours

04/03/2018 - 1:40am With their bigs who aren't used to it

And Shaq would have been a better player if he shot threes like Steven Curry.

04/03/2018 - 1:34am He was tonight

Maybe you're thinking because he's a redhead, he's not athletic. Wrong. The dude was the most athletic guy on the whole court tonight, and he was on fire. That's an extremely tough cover assignment.

And I think he got most of his points off of defenders other than Matthews. Matthews was the only one with the athleticism to stay with him. Others were worried about Divencizo blowing by them, and then he'd just rise up from five feet behind the 3 point line and nail it. Matthews was the only one out there with the quickness and length to contest that.

And as to other strategies, did you see what doubling on a player did for Kansas?

04/03/2018 - 1:22am I don't think Charles Matthews was covering him

for the whole game.  In fact, I think Matthews was the only guy we had out there with the athleticism and height to hope to stay with him.  And yet Matthews picked up four foulls, so I'm not sure how much more coverage we could have gotten out of him.

04/03/2018 - 12:33am Or maybe YOUR basketball's only fan?

?

04/03/2018 - 12:30am I don't think "fun" is the word that comes to mind tonight

Supportive. Appreciative. Grateful.

Tonight was painful, then sorrowful as the "I've never seen a comeback from this amount down in this little time" mark was crossed around 4 minutes left.

Of course, the run from the BTT to the title game was a joy, but I'm in a reflective mood tonight. Not a fun mood.

04/03/2018 - 12:12am I like that box score better

Leave it. It's cathartic

04/03/2018 - 12:03am We were only six points away from a National Championship

is how I look at it.

04/03/2018 - 12:00am Do you think the team tried to miss?

They gave us a helluva run. Of course, I'm disappointed, but I'm also supportive and don't go throwing around "also ran" at a team that worked damn hard to improve from unranked team in early Feb to a team playing in the title game.

No, I don't think they played their best tonight, but damn they gave us their all and a great season, and for that I'm grateful.

04/02/2018 - 11:52pm We fucking needed Rodman to stop Divincenzo tonight

Also ran? Get over yourself.

04/01/2018 - 8:11pm Exactly

Just play as normal, trying to maximize our own points-oer-possession and minimize Villanova's points per possession.

Glad Beilein is running the show and not the poster who in desperation feels the need for a "perfect" game.

04/01/2018 - 1:50pm Simmons hit a huge 3 with 11:48 to go to cut the deficit to 6

04/01/2018 - 1:45pm Is CJ Baird the next Darko Milicic?

04/01/2018 - 1:21pm Kansas panicked and jacked up way too many 10 point shots

in desperation,

04/01/2018 - 1:17pm mild tangent "mid point at the second half"

I agree.

The 38-16 run from 14 minute mark down 10 has been frequently cited, but we were down 9 at the 12 minute mark (35-14 run thereafter) and 8 at the 11:25 mark (32-12 run thereafter).  The anxiety was still high at the ~12 minute TV break.

After a Poole layup and Robinson's 2nd 3-pointer cut it to 3 points at 10:23, Kripke made a layup to put the Flying Nuns up 5 with 9:19 to go.  Loyola would then go scoreless for the next 4:35, at which time Kripke would make another layup to end a 12-0 Mich run and cut the Loyola deficit to 5 at the 4:44 mark.

04/01/2018 - 12:58pm I think how we fared against TAMU vs FSU

is a likely preview.

It's got to be frustrating to go from everything is easy and going in to everything is contested and you're FG percentage drops precipitously.

Michigan persevered against an FSU team that was also facing a tough Mich defense and (IMO) just didn't have enough offensive firepower to take advantage of a toe-to-toe game at halftime.

Every once and a while, this Michigan team goes off on offense (while consistently playing tough defense), and let's hope that happens on Monday.

04/01/2018 - 12:52pm I wonder how KenPom would rank a 2nd half of the season Mich

versus a 2nd half of the season Villanova.

I would guess that the difference would be much smaller.

Heck, even the eye-balls AP Rankings had us unranked before the Breslin win.

04/01/2018 - 12:32pm Duncan Robinson's 6 points in the 2nd half

were the key.  (Points 7, 8, and 9 didn't hurt, either.)

03/31/2018 - 4:48pm Izzo wasn't the source of either of these quotes

from Yahoo

One thing we noticed was that they’re unbelievably handsy and grabby.

from ESPN

How handsy and chippy they are, in itself is very anti-Michigan-like.

Izzo always ignores that sort of stuff.
