11/12/2018 - 10:16pm Oh shit. That sucks.

That is really unfortunate. He was starting to establish himself as the lead player on that team.

I won't believe he's coming to AA until he shows up at my door, makes me a sandwich, and tells me so himself.

11/04/2018 - 9:57am Thanks, man. I appreciate…

Thanks, man. I appreciate having your level headed perspective on the board. I hope your visit to AA wasn’t a total bust.

He built Stanford on three star guys, a few two star guys, and a few four star guys.

Also, I still can't believe Hudson was a three star.  Did no one at the recruiting services watch his clips?

"He's not malicious, just a fool" reminds me of...someone.

I do not understand any of this.

10/24/2018 - 2:56pm Let us trust in Rashan Gary…

Let us trust in Rashan Gary and his mom.  They have only every given us reasons to believe in them.

We have every reason to believe in Gary.

10/23/2018 - 3:02pm He has become a damn good…

He has become a damn good player.  Is he the best Michigan RB since Hart?  I'm not sure who else you'd argue for other than maybe Toussaint or Minor.

10/23/2018 - 10:36am The expectation of many (but…

The expectation of many (but certainly not all) OSU fans is that they should win the national championship every year.  My memory is that you could find people talking about firing Tressel after each one of his rare losses.  I'm not surprised they're reacting this way right now.  OSU is one of those programs that would win every game if only their gosh darn coaches didn't get in the way.

The above having been said, Gene Smith - think what you will of him - is not that dumb.  I can't believe the OSU athletic department is anywhere close to wanting Meyer gone.

10/22/2018 - 8:16pm Jeez, that seems rash.

Jeez, that seems rash.

Beat OSU. Between the two, the playoff finishes ninth.

10/22/2018 - 5:53pm A friendly and happy correct…

A friendly and happy correction: he is 8-4 against Michigan.  Coach Carr's win against him in 2007 is often left out of the conversation.

10/22/2018 - 5:30pm People wanting to push him…

People wanting to push him out need to give up.  He's presiding over the second best stretch in program history.  He's not very old.  He still has a winning record against Michigan.  He's not going anywhere barring some giant scandal or a health issue.

10/22/2018 - 12:09pm Meyer has a cyst in his head…

Meyer has a cyst in his head that (I think) causes recurring headaches.  I’m no fan of his, but he may be suffering for reasons that have nothing to do with his character.

This has no effect on the committee’s rankings - at least not officially. Neither does the AP poll.

This could be very entertaining if it were coming from some other former foreign leader. But this person needs to focus elsewhere. Reading a history of Europe during WWII might be a good choice.

And he just threw a TD to Devin Asiasi.

10/20/2018 - 11:52pm This is unfortunate.

This is unfortunate.

It is *so* nice to win an ugly game against those guys. As Adam says, this felt like a familiar script: penalties, bad whether, sloppy play, and a trick play. These are the games MSU wins because the talent gap is erased by chaos. But not today! Michigan is big and talented, but they’re scrappy too. I love it.

Also, while there are many players to praise, Higdon is just a hell of a back at this point.

Finally, get well, JBB!

10/20/2018 - 6:34pm Not a chance.

He’s likely the second best coach in the history of MSU football. He’s also one of the better coaches in the country, as much as I hate to admit it. He’s not going anywhere.

10/20/2018 - 2:24pm As to a separate issue, I…

As to a separate issue, I apologize for emailing you and saying a sasquatch would play for Michigan today. I had in fact heard that, but I should have known better.

10/19/2018 - 3:37pm MSU will win 17-14 thanks to…

MSU will win 17-14 thanks to seven safeties and a post-safety drop kick through the uprights in the final seconds that is credited as a three-point score.  You might say that you can't convert a field goal on a free kick.  And my response is this: I know, but it will happen anyway.

10/17/2018 - 6:00pm Seems early to get worked up.

I’m with you. But maybe we can at least be happy that he didn’t deny Michigan’s recent struggles.

I’m still not used to being on this side of the looking glass.

10/15/2018 - 7:05pm Dantonio is an excellent…

Dantonio is an excellent coach. And, off the top of my head, they’re one of the top 15 programs of this decade. I have no problem saying these things.

10/15/2018 - 3:37pm I enjoyed that game and…

I enjoyed that game and thought it was fun and also I liked it.

10/14/2018 - 1:39am This was fun for a lot of…

This was fun for a lot of reasons. I think I said, “Holy shit!” to my cat when Hill finished his pick six.

But what made me the happiest was Michigan finding its running game in the second half and pushing Wisconsin around some. I did not expect that after the first half performance. When was the last time Michigan flourished on the ground like that against a good team in the second half? I honestly can’t remember.

10/14/2018 - 12:12am Wisconsin had five total…

Wisconsin had five total sacks heading into tonight’s game. They are not a strong  pass rushing defense.

10/13/2018 - 11:17pm Hot takes:

Hot takes:

I did not understand why the staff risked losing Mike Weber to get Higdon during their recruitments. This is why I do not decide whom Michigan offers scholarships to. He is a heck of a back.

Patterson needs to protect the ball better, but his running makes this a much more dangerous team.

The receivers are still failing to get open too much. I don’t know if that’s about play design or running poor routes.

I am a Warriner believer. The OL is still probably pretty average in pass protection (not bad considering the talent he’s working with). But I think we can say they’re a pretty good rushing unit after tonight.

I bet we’ll see the McCaffery double pass at some point.

The Sox need to string some hits together.

Let’s do this! Also, is Ace’s given name Harry? Have we all been living a lie?!

10/08/2018 - 7:55pm Well, shit balls. Ace, you…

Well, shit balls. Ace, you will be missed! Please at least post on the board and let us know how you’re doing. As many others have said, we’re all pulling for you. I very much admire the way you’ve handled your health issues and the resultant complications. You are a tough and thoroughly decent guy. Hang in there. We wish you the best.

10/04/2018 - 2:37pm I won't be able to be there,…

I won't be able to be there, but I'm glad you're up for this.  I'm sure you'll do very well.

Maryland - 7.5

Wisconsin - 5

MSU - 4

PSU - 4

Rutgers - 8.5

Indiana - 7

OSU - 2

I think the Wisconsin game is the difference between 8-4 and 7-5.

I have never stopped being entertained by the fact that someone is called “Elon Musk.” It’s a fun name.

09/24/2018 - 1:52pm I agree that Nebraska will…

I agree that Nebraska will be tough. They put Michigan’s defenders in difficult spots a couple of times with the design of the offense. They just couldn’t execute. The could-have-been TD that became an interception on the opening drive was the most obvious example.

I was impressed by Martinez. He has raw talent, composure (or so it seemed), and a good grasp of the offense (again, so it seemed). I suspect he’s going to be difficult to stop if and when the Huskers can block for him.

As for Nebraska of old, my impression is that they had an advanced weight training program for years. But then everyone caught up to them, and that advantage was gone.

Is the Stanford-y stuff (odd formations, shifts, TEs everywhere) still in the playbook?

I'd like to start by saying that everyone who posts in this thread is going to be a cuck, a Social Justice Warrior, a rape apologist, a hysterical McCarthyite, a witch hunter, a witch, a morally panicked man-hating lesbian, a self-hating man, a misogynist, a cocker spaniel, or a Russian bot.

I wonder what the colour and the shape of the ball were.

Call me old fashioned, but I liked it better when it was made of wood and chicken wire.

Run the picket fence.

Get the ball to Jimmy Chitwood.

Don't get caught watchin' the paint dry!

09/04/2018 - 7:37pm Most people most of the time…

Most people most of the time interpret messages as simple. Here, the AD is sending the message that sexual assault is bad and that working to stop it is good.

Is there nuance or sophistication to this? No. Is there virtue signaling involved? Sure. Does any of this make the message unworthy of sending? No.

09/04/2018 - 4:24pm FWIW, Geoff at the Hoover…

FWIW, Geoff at the Hoover Street Rag expressed nearly my exact current sentiments about college football at the end of his piece.  Being wrapped up in it emotionally seems not just self-defeating but like an abjugation of adulthood.  The state of our country demands our attention elsewhere if we have the time and energy to give it.

This isn't to say that I am above being fixated on the outcome of a Michigan season.  But that sure seems like something I ought to strive for.

09/02/2018 - 12:44am That’s an exaggeration, but…

That’s an exaggeration, but I take your point. Newsome’s injury hurts a lot given the recruiting failures at that position.

Okay

I’m with you on this. The most salient criticism to be made of Harbaugh is that he failed to recruit tackles well enough to survive the loss of Newsome.

09/01/2018 - 11:44pm Good news: you would only…

Good news: you would only need to change the outcome of a few plays for Michigan to win the game (assuming everything else stayed the same, which I realize is unlikely).

Bad news: ND looked like a better program almost top to bottom. It’s worth noting that they were also at home at night, which should temper our reactions to this.

Further thoughts: I’m more bored than frustrated with the program at this point. Life is too short to fret about a game. There is a world of other things to engage with.
