07/19/2018 - 9:06pm I agree. I believe the kid…

I agree. I believe the kid has the talent and the coaches have done a very poor job of coaching to his strengths. At the time I thought they should have started him from the beginning and use the early season to have him up and running for the meat of the schedule. Otherwise, no one can possibly know what the "truth" is here. Today I can claim that my strategy would have been the correct one...but I would be wrong :) ...except for the part that the coaches have likely failed him.

07/18/2018 - 7:41pm Thanks. Like I said, these…

Thanks. Like I said, these short clips cannot be trusted and while the play seems most lackadaisical...it's just hard to read. A live performance is surely much more telling...in every way. I do see that his rating is very high???

07/18/2018 - 5:22pm How did you view him …

How did you view him "extensively"? I do not see much tape on him...and these tapes are so (potentially) misleading??? Did you see him play in person? Otherwise, from the tape, your assessment does not hold water...lots of potential.

07/18/2018 - 1:04pm What I really like about all…

What I really like about all these kids is that in their clips is that they make 100% of their shots!!!!!

Otherwise, I like what I see. Looks like a very athletic, versatile talent...sees the floor, shoots well, passes well...nice size...a lot to like...you can go big or small with him.

07/18/2018 - 9:35am Here, while my personal…

Here, while my personal preference would be Girard-as a more pure shooter with great range...but Watts is a bit more dynamic. So...??? Looks like win-win between those two.

07/16/2018 - 12:07pm Having a good A/T ratio is…

Having a good A/T ratio is fine but the fact is that he that it is only because he is overly cautious-which reduced his turnovers on the one hand and he had good shooters to overhype his assists on the other. And this year, unless he has miraculously developed an outside game, it is going to be very tough sledding for him. And FYI, I absolutely love his defense-it is as good as his offense is bad. I just believe that at this level of play you have to be more serviceable at both ends.

Otherwise, I guarantee that you will not find a coach nor a player that I played with, for or against that will not testify to my ability to play the point. And yes, when you play point you are the final evaluator of talent-both for your team and the opponent. Just the facts mister...whether you like it or not.

07/16/2018 - 10:48am Girard a thousand times over…

Girard a thousand times over...let Watts go somewhere else. And yes, go get the "little" Wagner kid.

07/16/2018 - 10:41am Teske can and should play a…

Teske can and should play a very important role. And if you watch the clip from the Iowa game you will see why I am so critical of Simpson-offensively. There is a very simple pass to Teske on his roll to the basket, for a dunk that Simpson is completely oblivious too. Anybody, and I do mean ANYBODY,  who is worth two grains of salt as a PG is all over this. As a person who played the position-and played it well this is an unforgivable type of error...you NEVER overlook your big man in this type of situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Additionally, yes I am not done, this same clip encapsulates my criticism of Beilein...because this "Iowa" clip is not an exception-this is Simpson over and over. As a coach you either correct this error if it is correctable or you play someone who can make that play. And to add further insult to injury here it is against a friggin, weak-assed 2-3 zone. For cryin' out loud-learn how to attack this-the weakest zone defense ever!!!!!!!

Okay, I'm done :)

07/14/2018 - 10:59pm That's exactly right. You…

That's exactly right. You have to be a pathologically partisan idiot not to understand this. Beilein does not develop PGs in one or even two years...I would say he pretty much doesn't at all...they have to figure it out on there own. This kid is no dummy.

07/13/2018 - 9:24am The new site is fine by me…

The new site is fine by me. I'm pleased to sit as a -14...though -113,782 would be better. We all know and believe what we know and believe. You put your opinions out there...I put my opinions out there...no big deal.

07/13/2018 - 9:19am No, he's a very good player…

No, he's a very good player and Michigan is blessed to get him. But watch his tape...he's a  DT and he's a 4 star. Mazi is a better player now and will continue to be. Just the facts.

07/11/2018 - 10:56am If this is directed at me: I…

If this is directed at me: I am not "calling out his parents". This is a legitimate, authentic parenting challenge. I am simply stating that they would do well to accept/take up/embrace this challenge and make it an opportunity.

07/11/2018 - 8:30am I would be most happy with…

I would be most happy with Ford, Sanguinetti, Keegan and DeLoach, in that order, being added to this class...any of those 5 stars, Crouch, Harrison, Hill..., would simply be a cherry on top.

07/11/2018 - 8:22am Totally agree. The parents…

Totally agree. The parents need to put on their "mature" hats and truly figure this out-along with Zach.

07/11/2018 - 8:18am I am very much in agreement…

I am very much in agreement with the "summary"...including the "compromise"...these have been my very thoughts on this matter. I hope Zach follows his heart and goes to Michigan...not for partisan reasons but for his personal well-being. As a long-time pediatric nurse with a spouse who is a CPNP and a brother who is a pediatrician...I have great empathy for this young man. His interview regarding his inner conflict with this decision saddens me a bit. The adults around him need to put on their big boy and girl pants and grow up and do the right thing. They need to sit down and have a long discussion about the long-term pluses and minuses and make the best decision they can.

07/09/2018 - 6:03am Agree 100%. Michigan…

Agree 100%. Michigan football does need to improve it's on-field performance but what Jim Harbaugh is doing with this team otherwise is exemplary...unparalleled. Strange as it is to hear myself say this (I must be mellowing with age) I would rather give up some wins for what this program is otherwise-under Harbaugh. I am so pleased with the maturity and thoughtfulness of the Michigan players.

07/08/2018 - 7:44pm That's what I saw too. But…

That's what I saw too. But the stress on the kid, all 17 years old of him, from the "local" expectations is going to be excruciating. He seems like an intelligent, well-grounded kid but...

07/07/2018 - 6:56pm It will be most interesting…

It will be most interesting to see who makes it up for the BBQ. The report is that Sanguinetti is coming. I would love to see Michigan pull in a group that included Sanguinetti, Ford, Crouch and Keegan or Ike. I would say they have a great chance of getting Johnson, a lesser possibility of Harrison or Karliftis and an even lesser chance of Hill. But it's a crazy world out there. In '17 they hit pay dirt...'18 not so much...maybe they're an odd year team.

07/05/2018 - 5:18pm I know this game inside out,…

I know this game inside out, backward, forward, upside down...I played the position and have coached and officiated the game enough that I do not need to see more than a couple clips. I went to their opening tournament game in Wichita-where we live. He got figured out as the tournament went along. The kid is an offensive liability...bordering being a huge one. You can massage him with your partisan fandom as much as you wish but this is the reality. And here, the problem is that playing the point well is an innate skill and he does not have it-he shows flashes but it is not there on a consistent basis...you can only coach it into being to a certain extent. Interestingly, DeJulius and Brooks have it. This is going to be a huge coaching challenge for Beilein. I am most curious how this is going to play out.

07/05/2018 - 12:46pm Well. I will continue to be…

Well. I will continue to be the rainer on this Simpson parade. He has a huge achilles heel on the offensive end of the floor-he, pretty much, can't shoot outside of 12 feet. Additionally, he is at best an average passer as is his general court sense...and these are traits that one either has or doesn't-not easily taught. He was exposed during the NCAA tournament and his deficiencies will be fully exploited this coming year. This is a different year and teams will be fully prepared by playing him soft away from the basket and making him prove he can do more than make layups. I would love to see his game come together but I believe it is a very long-shot...pun intended. I absolutely love his dynamic defense but you cannot play PG at this level and be such an offensive liability.

07/05/2018 - 8:16am Whoa...that would be a haul!…

Whoa...that would be a haul! Hill and Harrison are special talents. I haven't recruited enough to speak definitively-except to say that these kids make decisions in all directions for stated reasons that just leave you shaking your head. I will keep coming back to Sanguinetti though-this kid offers a very functional replacement for Hill/'Cine...he's a very high ceiling athlete...watch that kid run and hit!

07/05/2018 - 8:02am McDoom, Perry, Martin,…

McDoom, Perry, Martin, Turner...as I said, I like this kid a lot but there are many fine lines to be drawn here. I will have no quibble with the staff if they take him...because he may well be an upgrade.

07/04/2018 - 9:20pm Great job but HOLY COW!!!…

Great job but HOLY COW!!! You have to finish with "The Shot" again!!!

07/04/2018 - 9:07pm Thanks for the chuckle. Have…

Thanks for the chuckle. Have you ever played? Before games, in warm-ups, is the time for the non-starters to show their stuff. The starters heads are at a different place...they could not care less how they look before the game starts...they are getting their minds ready for action.

07/04/2018 - 7:43pm Great kid...17 years old???…

Great kid...17 years old??? What a decision to make! Must have had a helluva meaningful visit last week. Reading between the lines-he would like to come to Michigan...but the (his local) fallout is excruciating. Michigan football fans are pathologically near-sighted but the OSU fans are worse. This could be very interesting.

07/04/2018 - 7:12pm A lot of over-reaction to…

A lot of over-reaction to this...no earth-shaking "droppings". I don't really care who does what in practice-when otherwise protected. Just need a QB who shows up while the clock is running.

07/04/2018 - 8:16am I like the kid a lot but…

I like the kid a lot but Michigan already has plenty of guys who can play the slot already on the roster and his addition would be a waste of space. Additionally, new commit Gray, would be a (THE) most dynamic slot guy. Here, Michigan's  OC would do well to find as many ways as possible to get Gray matched up with an LB or safety-because that would be a most riotous mismatch to watch-as a Michigan fan.

07/04/2018 - 12:56am To the question at hand:…

To the question at hand: There does not appear to be a slot nor a need for Jackson...there are better need priorities. I am hoping that Sanguinetti finds a way onto this team-love his skill-set. All the 5 stars listed can come. If Michigan does not get Keegan I hope they get Ike.

07/02/2018 - 9:19pm Ah yes! Another guy to knock…

Ah yes! Another guy to knock Dobbs on his robotic ass! This kid is a player!!!

07/02/2018 - 9:04pm We live in the godawful…

We live in the godawful state of Kansas...the provincial thinking capital of the world. Been here for 8 years...stuck for another 8-until our youngest grandson graduates from HS. We're here to give our grandsons a better chance in life. Retired a couple years ago from many years of pediatric oncology nursing...wife continues as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Do love our 55 acres...cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats...and the garden-raise much of our own food. Many hobbies-traveling, gardening, the athletic endeavor...bake breads and pies part-time for a nice local restaurant.

Pros: A terrific grandson. Very little light pollution=incredible night skies.

Cons: Everything else-especially the weather and people.

07/02/2018 - 8:16pm Myles is a 10********** in…

Myles is a 10********** in my book...love the talent of that kid...gonna be better than his All Pro daddy.

I would be glad for Mr. Danielson Ike...a great kid who is mean as hell on the football field.

07/02/2018 - 7:59pm McNamara is not the…

McNamara is not the consummate stud physical specimen but he has everything else you want in a QB. When I have heard him interviewed the strength of his voice, his composure and intellect...he exudes confidence in all the right ways. Cade has the makings of a great college QB...don't think he has NFL physical talent...but we will see.

07/02/2018 - 12:20pm This kid fits the Harbaugh…

This kid fits the Harbaugh prototype-he's a thoughtful free-thinker! If you go listen to his interview on 247 he would 100% flip to Michigan...if he would be free of all kinds of "Columbus" fall-out. I thought all along that him going to OSU was a forgone conclusion. But OMG!!! This kid is really torn...this is really going to be interesting.

07/02/2018 - 10:33am Lots of good options here :)

Lots of good options here :)

06/30/2018 - 7:45pm It is my impression that Jim…

It is my impression that Jim Harbaugh places a higher criteria on character and academic achievement/intelligence than the two cited schools. Here I am not making a judgement-simply stating what  I believe is. Personally, I see advantages and disadvantages for both criteria sets relative to on field performance-and believe there is a place for both. I prefer trying to win with higher character kids. While I believe Harbaugh needs to figure this thing out and teach these exceptional young men to compete better on the field I also greatly appreciate what he is trying to do here. I know that for many the world revolves around winning...I love to win but it will never define me. We'll see if Jim figures this out.

06/30/2018 - 1:30pm Hinton could well move…

Hinton could well move inside. Last year this young man lined up a lot on the inside as well...though HUDL lists him as 6'6" 245#. Clearly Ojabo has good athleticism but he is also the definition of "raw"...but if he comes to Michigan he will surely redshirt and have time to develop.

06/30/2018 - 7:02am Absolutely not sarcasm. The…

Absolutely not sarcasm. The 1-3-1 is a dynamic defense with excellent on ball pressure, terrific gap control, great trapping potential as well as offering personnel flexibility. It beats the hell out of the 2-3. With the defensive prowess of Matthews and Livers to play the (critical) baseline "1" Michigan would do very well here. Ignorance is not bliss.

06/29/2018 - 6:01pm When I first saw this I…

When I first saw this I thought "What the hell are they doing!!!" But upon further review, I think this is a very good move. Nice athlete. Decent handle. Nice mid-range shot. Quick dunker. Okay defender.  Michigan has a year to evaluate him and coach him up...sounds good to me.

06/29/2018 - 7:19am It's such a copy-cat world…

It's such a copy-cat world. And here, the infatuation with playing man is simply crazy. With the value of and the predominance of the three point shot, why the 1-3-1 zone has not become the base defense makes no sense. Michigan has the perfect roster for employing this zone. Quit wasting all that energy chasing shooters all over the floor...let them expend the energy running to you!!!

06/28/2018 - 9:08am OT...but Myles Hinton just…

OT...but Myles Hinton just popped up on my screen so I revisited his tape...and, mind you, this is tape of his sophomore year-a 15 year old??? OMG!!! Not only is this kid a 5* but he will contend for #1 in his class. He's huge. He is powerful. He is a fluid athlete. He has a very high football IQ.

I cannot imagine that he will not be a starting LT his freshman year. ..wherever he goes.

In the meantime, Keegan will/would be a part of a winning o-line formula.

06/28/2018 - 8:55am Herron is an outstanding…

Herron is an outstanding player and I surely hope he comes to Michigan-for both his sake and that of Michigan football. However, despite the **** rating disparity, DiCosmo and Herron appear to be nearly parallel in talent.

06/28/2018 - 8:10am You play to win...make that,…

You play to win...make that, you ALWAYS play to win. Jump at the opportunity to eliminate Mexico or Brazil-if you're going to win it all you have to beat the best at some point...may as well be sooner than later.

06/27/2018 - 5:57pm The key word being "arguably…

The key word being "arguably".

06/26/2018 - 9:54pm Sanguinetti...take him every…

Sanguinetti...take him every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Safety, WR...wherever he wants to play. That is "SEC" speed...and a football player.

06/26/2018 - 5:59pm I generally do not watch…

I generally do not watch live...not that I have much of a choice stuck out here in the gawdawful state of Kansas. I then watch replays-selectively.

Cooking/baking, gardening, farm work, fishing, hiking, watching sports where I have no strong allegiances...

06/26/2018 - 7:19am Agreed. When you have Rumler…

Agreed. When you have Rumler, Carpenter and Barnhart in the fold you should be pretty pleased with the possibilities. Those three are "get it done-you will not beat me" type players that make for a great O-line. I wouldn't mind if they added that kid from KC-love his attitude...the same as the other three, here...great strength and balance required to play LT.

06/25/2018 - 10:39pm If anything I feel badly for…

If anything I feel badly for Mr. Dobbs. He appears to be a bit immature-even for a 17 year old. I'm sure MSU claims to have its culture under control but this is a kid that would seem to be at higher than average risk for a variety of reasons. And in these regards, he would have benefited greatly by coming to a place like Michigan. I hope this works out for him.

06/25/2018 - 9:08pm He's also a fantastic player…

He's also a fantastic player...just FYI :)

06/25/2018 - 8:17pm The bad news (from his tapes…

The bad news (from his tapes) is that he is running for his life...the good news is that they can't catch him...what a riot!

In the camp tape of RB vs LB...the LBs had no chance against him.

I trust the coaches judgement on this one :)

06/25/2018 - 9:32am The 400 is not a good…

The 400 is not a good measure of football speed for a running back but it is a gawdawful distance to race and is a great measure of heart. Bottom line is that this kid is a helluva running back with all the attributes for potential greatness. His classmate (Thibodeaux) tweeted "Heisman???"  at him following his commitment...and I agree with his potential in this regard. This kid is really good.
