Don’t you dare ask me about Tarik Black. He will be my secret weapon.

Lol, true and it successfully bottled your mind with one perusal.

I remember in the early/ mid 2000s ESPN used to do a special about Florida’s bored punter. Let’s keep Will bored.

Regression to the mean is a beautiful thing. 69-36-5 all time

Luck can only get you so far.  3-9 = regression to the mean

The better team and the historically better team are one and the same.

 Go blue on Saturday.

10/14/2018 - 10:33am I know Chris personally as…

I know Chris personally as he is an Indy native. He surprised my son on his 10th birthday with an appearance at his birthday party. He brought a football back from Michigan practice and signed it and gave it to him.  He is a very generous person with prodigious talent. We are going to need him a lot in the big games coming up.  He will be extremely valuable in the weeks to come. Hats off to CE12!

10/14/2018 - 10:16am Higdon is definitely not…

Higdon is definitely not right here, but I don’t fault him or love him any less for that. I like him building up his teammates. This offensive line has clearly turned a corner. They are playing as one of the better lines in the B1G. Last night was just the latest in a impressive stretch. PFF had our pass pro at #28 before this game, and I don’t think it will go down after last night.  The run blacking was actually subpar in the first half, but they got much better as the game went on. That is a new development, and a sign of a stronger team with better conditioning!

I love Higdon’s comments, I just think there is obvious (yet appropriate in context) hyperbole.

10/14/2018 - 6:32am Those are all solid points…

Those are all solid points squash. I do believe, however, that facing them immediately after their huge upset over penn state willl prevent our players from subconsciously underestimating them. They did lose to northwestern after all, and our players are still human beings (with the possible exception of Ben Mason - who is more likely a human/machine hybrid).

10/14/2018 - 1:25am This type of win is next…

This type of win is next level stuff for this program. In 2016, we scraped by for some big wins and lost the close ones. This year’s team is getting stronger in the 2nd half in every single game (including Notre Dame and northwestern where we dominated the 2nd half).  It looks like Herbert’s program and the strength difference may be a tangible 4th quarter phenomenon. And the Warinner effect has appropriately received nearly universal acceptance.

It is a great time to be a Michigan fan. Congrats to Coach Harbaugh and his incredible staff and his outstanding players on a gigantic win on the national stage.

10/14/2018 - 1:04am This M team is legit, period…

This M team is legit, period.  Huge challenge next week, but we will not overlook them this year. They just beat a very good Penn State team on the road.  Beating a strong MSU team that is confident will mean so much more.   There cannot be any caveats or excuses that we beat them when they were down.   We will have a chance to reclaim the state, shut down the media haters, finally win that road game against a ranked team, and take complete control of our destiny in the conference.

10/14/2018 - 12:12am Clearly our players love to…

Clearly our players love to feast on turtles.  Back to back blowout wins - first turtles and then turtle coach.  It will not be hard to use that metaphor against a green team next week, too. Eat all the turtles 🐢!

Nice summary. Thanks for putting this together. This team has a legitimate chance to win a B1G championship. Huge game on Saturday... eagerly anitcipating a big win for this team.

Best wishes Ace. We will miss your work more than you know. Your quick wit,  friendly personality, humble demeanor, and well-researched opinions cannot be replaced.  Thank you for your valuable contributions to the Michigan sports community.

Yes, they just had a high 4* WR commit on September 28 - Jameson Williams from St. Louis Missouri.

Nevertheless, I don't think this embarrassing mess at Ohio State is helping recruiting.

This might be a hard time for Nick. Michigan is trumping Michigan State in absolutely everything again.

10/08/2018 - 8:15am Of course, we have always…

Of course, we have always considered their fan base to be shameful, but it is very validating that now the entire nation acknowledges that OSU's university leadership, coaching, and fan base are the most embarrassing of all.  In Columbus, football reigns over truth. We are just a handful of weeks away from the most gratifying football justice imaginable.  Michigan beats Ohio State in their stadium, and Urban Meyer disgracefully 'retires'.

10/07/2018 - 1:16am  Perhaps, but that doesn’t…

Perhaps, but that doesn’t really matter at this point in the season anyway. We have plenty of games to jump them in the standings. Besides, we have a common opponent - Maryland. That did not end well for them.

I agree 100% with Warde Manuel. He is worth every penny. The value he brings to the university and the football program far exceeds that number.

10/02/2018 - 6:32pm  I respect this take, but I…

I respect this take, but I disagree. I follow his writing, listen to his podcast, and follow his Twitter, and I am convinced that he has the natural sparty disdain towards Michigan.  He was an even more overt hater on his previous Wolverine Beat podcast with Brendan Quinn (which was awesome, IMO). His rare compliments towards Michigan are usually passive aggressive and also usually have caveats or a let’s see them prove it tone that is classic for an insecure sparty fan with a chip on his shoulder.

10/02/2018 - 5:17pm Nah, they don't, but I am…

Nah, they don't, but I am not ashamed to admit that I am a pro Michigan fan.  I try to be objective, but error on the side of optimism - because I think spectator sports are primarily for entertainment and pleasure.  I derive a great deal of pleasure from Michigan sports, and I try to share my positivity with other Michigan fans on this blog.  Maybe you should go to a buckeye or sparty blog to satisfy your taste for bitterness towards Michigan.

10/02/2018 - 4:49pm Finally, I got to the final…

Finally, I got to the final usage of finally in your first paragraph. Excessive use of a word that should inherently only be used once notwithstanding, your post represents a valuable opinion that is underrepresented.  Excellence takes time to build, and we are under construction with some promising early results.

10/02/2018 - 4:36pm Nick B Has a valuable…

Nick B Has a unique opinion because he is one of the few guys on the beat who actually despises Michigan. Most of the writers are so pro Michigan that they have trouble being objective.   When they say bad things about Michigan, it is often based on emotion and not on verifiable and objective observations. Of course, his bias is in the opposite direction.   He went to Michigan State, and his subversive disdain for UM is implicit in a lot of things that he tweets and writes.   I always take his information with a grain of salt, but I find that I glean more from his writing then anyone else's on the beat, with the exception of this fine blog.

10/01/2018 - 5:27pm I thought it had more to do…

I think it had more to do with this pathetic and embarrassing tweet on the day before the game:

"As a Northwestern fan, Michigan is my biggest rivalry, mainly because my best friends from high school went there. Jim Harbaugh doing this hot garbage (not revealing starters) makes me boil even more".

Put your money where your mouth is with your ridiculous emotionalism.

09/30/2018 - 8:00am Thanks for putting this…

Thanks for putting this together. Further proof that emotional venting on game threads is not just annoying, but it is also usually wrong.  It would be fun if people were given some accountability for their posts hating on Harbaugh and certain players when something does not go that fan’s way early enough for that fan’s liking. Running into a stacked front achieved the ultimate goal - win. Also, another game with minimal hits on our QB is something to be celebrated.  Running on first down keeps him upright and helps to wear down the defensive line. NW has a legitimately good run D, and we put a very respectable 180 rushing yards on them. Ironically, we got in trouble in the first quarter offensively by being creative and not running straight forward carries on first down.

Looking forward to a nice road comeback win.  Yes, that was an absolutely terrible start. However, we have the talent and leadership on this team to come back.    For those of you who give up on this team and these coaches -  good luck with the new team you start following.

Good question. It is not generally considered life-threatening.  However, it can be very quality of life threatening.  With enough repetitive stress, he could have been struggling with neuropathy issues for the rest of his life.  Typically physical therapy may be able to help him to avoid surgery, and his prognosis should be excellent since he is retiring from football. We all certainly wish him the very best.

09/23/2018 - 9:29am  Michigan is running all…

Michigan is running all right, but they are not running scared, they are running all over a ridiculously overmatched Nebraska team.  Nebraska football is quickly making itself into an embarrassing caricature. It is all very entertaining to me.  Scott frost may be the best thing that ever happened to the 2018 Michigan football season. Thank you Scott. Please give us more quotes before the Michigan State and Ohio State games.

He better hope this is the bottom. It is the program’s worst start in over 70 years!

09/22/2018 - 11:50pm Close to correct. A one loss…

Close to correct ak. A one loss Notre Dame team would not surpass a one loss Michigan even with the head to head win. We would have defeated osu, msu , psu, Wisconsin twice. We would be riding a 12 game winning streak with a single loss on the road to Notre Dame where we outgained then. We would be conference champions. They would have beat us and Virginia tech and usc with no championship game. (Assuming loss to Stanford). The committee loves conference champions.  They don’t like teams that sit out championship weekend unless that team is Alabama.

09/22/2018 - 11:04pm Stanford, at Virginia tech,…

Stanford, at Virginia tech, at usc

also, they play FSU which would normally be a top 10 team. Northwestern has been solid recently.

I disagree with everything about your post, especially your fear of them going undefeated.  It will not happen.
