I was going to say that that story had a short news cycle, but I'm not sure it was around long enough for it to even count as a news cycle.

(*note: I don't think Trump testing positive is some sort of conspiracy to shift attention from the Melania tapes. They were hardly the most damaging thing to the campaign even in the past week or so.)

I just pray that him and his wife recover quickly, along with everyone suffering from this disease.

I know someone who's been on a respirator since April and doctors have essentially said since May that there's nothing they can do.

You're a better man than I am: I at least hope he suffers symptoms so that he takes it seriously. Something that puts a little fear in him and maybe, like in 'A Christmas Carol' he recovers with a greater appreciation of life, the pandemic, and garners a better attitude for both. I think the worst thing that could happen is that he recovers while remaining symptom free, then goes off to his mobs of supporters with even less consideration for the pandemic.

Guessing debates are done.  Why would Team Biden want to be anywhere near the Trump campaign anytime soon given their apathy towards the virus?

I know people that were at the debate. They’re friends with someone on the debate commission. Twenty minutes into the debate, my contact there texted me, “What a shit show.” (No, she’s not Dana Bash.) If my friend or her family get Covid from this I’ll never forgive Trump or his sycophants.
Listen to the Woodward interview. Trump lied and people died. He deserves every difficult breath coming to him. I will not take the high road. He put his vanity above the health of the American people. Fuck him. I hope he dies.

Hatred.

For all the professions about love and other such nonsense it turns out “progressives” are no different from the thousands of generations of humans that came before. Color me shocked.

I think we can safely put to rest any idea that humans are anything but a giant pile of shit.

Wouldn’t that be a crazy turn. Imagine if Biden did get it and came down with pretty bad symptoms. What then?

I’ve been thinking for a while that the events that would ultimately shape this election haven’t occurred yet. I honestly thought we got it when Ginsburg died. Not anymore...that’s practically been “forgotten about” at least insofar as the news cycle is concerned.

I know it’s a huge if...but IF Biden were to get it and come down with severe symptoms...holy shit the chaos. I can’t even imagine the scenarios there.

I think it’s obvious the next debate is off...if there are any more at all. I think Trump wants more debates so that he can try to do better...but it’s unlikely there are many undecideds left.

so many wild cards here. I really don’t know what to make of it.

I actually think the opposite. Trump's team wants fewer debates and opportunities to make himself look terrible. No one who saw that, unless they totally locked in as a Trump supporter, watched that and thought he looked good, stable, fit for office. I believe a lot of moderates who saw that, who do not pay attention to the day to day and Twitter were shocked.

This was very different from 2016 when people didn't know what to expect, lots disliked Hillary, and people thought the office will change him and people will guide him not to be a nut.

Couple thoughts.

1) I’m still human. Despite how much I hate the man and think he is ruining our democracy, my initial, human thought was “oh no!”

2) I’m also incredibly jaded. The man lies so much that a part of me doesn’t believe it and I think it’s just a campaign stunt to show how “tough” he is.

anyway, hope he survives, hope he loses in a landslide.

Something to consider unless you're an entrenched plutocrat with multiple layers (legal, etc.) protecting your dragon hoard: If things get bad enough for the average US resident, your social betters (Blue / Red / whatever) will crack open middle-class nest eggs and distribute the contents to the rabble. Your loyalty to your betters (Red, presumably, in your case) will not be rewarded.
