07/14/2018 - 4:23pm Yes, Michigan's performance…

Yes, Michigan's performance under Beilein is light years apart from OSU's, including Holtmann's first year.  2 NCAA Tournament Championship game appearances is the best evidence one could point toward.  I think that's all that really needs to be said.

07/03/2018 - 10:29pm ...and Bill Clinton, Harvey…

...and Bill Clinton, Harvey Weinstein (big Obama and Hillary backer), Kevin Spacey, NY AG, Congressman Conyers, etc, etc.  Why do some act like only one political party has deviants.  Perhaps an agenda.

07/03/2018 - 6:48pm Did you hear the one about…

Did you hear the one about the sitting president who assaulted several women...then his wife, who was aware of everything, also ran for president?  You really can't make this stuff up!

07/02/2018 - 5:01pm Also, I don't think a city…

Also, I don't think a city in MI could charge a 4% income tax - legislative limits?  The highest is Detroit at 2.4% for residents and 1.2% for non-residents - you have to charge it to everyone and non-resident can only by 50% of the resident rate.  Residents pay if they work within or outside the city limits.

07/02/2018 - 4:54pm Ann Arbor considered an…

Ann Arbor considered an income tax several years ago, which would have to be approved in a local election.  The City conducted polling and the response was an overwhelming "NO" even with the provision that property tax would be drastically reduced (I believe that is in the City Charter).  People just don't trust any form of government to follow through on such items.  Although, an income tax would generate millions of dollars for the city given the number of non-resident commuters.

07/02/2018 - 4:48pm Many local governments in…

Many local governments in Michigan (and across the US, Canada, Ireland and many other countries) are actually Council-Manager forms of government rather than "strong mayor."  The mayor and council serve the legislative function and the Manager (or in Ann Arbor "Administrator") is the Executive Officer responsible for day-to-day operations.  Given this form of government, your local government can still talk about the policy issues, but make sure there is a professional adviser to the legislative body.  You can also count on taxes being collected, complaints addressed, treasury managed, etc.  The Manager/Administrator is hired by the elected body.  In Ann Arbor that person is Howard E. Lazarus.  IMO, the Executive Officer selection is more important than the Mayoral election - but that's just my opinion, man.

07/02/2018 - 11:44am Well, clearly "corruption,…

Well, clearly "corruption, greed, and sloth" have a home with no boundaries on the political spectrum, as is evidenced throughout history.  However, the constitution does apply, therefore it outlines various items - such as appointments by the President, with the consent of the Senate and also electoral college.  Two items that many fail to understand, which was my point in linking.

07/02/2018 - 11:20am Doubt that will ever happen…

Doubt that will ever happen.  It's been at 9 since 1869; FDR tried and failed to increase the number.  Both parties have had the White House, Senate, and House and the number hasn't changed in nearly 150 years.

06/22/2018 - 11:27am I've heard Brian talk…

I've heard Brian talk specifically about offensive line recruiting...you complain about every 3 star highs school kid who even mentions Michigan.  Then you fail to comment on a discussion about a 5 star offensive linemen says Michigan is at the top of his list.  Seems like someone doesn't really want to discuss recruiting, and it's you.

06/22/2018 - 1:13am Interesting take that…

Interesting take that Michigan's receivers are a "take your lunch pail to work" group.  The top 2 were highly rated, with DPJ being the #1 WR in his class and the #12 ranked player.  T. Black was also a high 4* that many think was underrated.  Depth is always good, but I agree that WR is not a position of need.

06/20/2018 - 3:15pm Additionally, some can now…

Additionally, some can now also admit that everything isn't a mistake made by the coaches.  Sometimes kids just don't want to come to Michigan.

Or maybe he likes other things about PSU that he thinks are a good fit for him.  You know, something outside of football.

06/07/2018 - 11:28am Is this the same post as…

Is this the same post as yesterday, only for a different player?  At least change it up a little.  The, "If someone told me this would be happening in year 4 of Harbaugh when he was hired...." line is getting tiresome.  Can't wait to see the next post when someone issues a crystal ball pick or when a recruit puts a team list on twitter.

05/01/2018 - 3:31pm Seems like Brian is making a

Seems like Brian is making a joke to me, but what do I know.  It appears that there are some writters/staffers/etc. who made the trip as a vacation, but will likely consider it "business" as far as the IRS is concerned.  Brian is just pointing to that in jest, IMO.

04/30/2018 - 11:01am Sure, some freshman are

Sure, some freshman are great, but you mention Lewerke as being so much more capable.  In his first year he was 31/57 (54.4%) with 381 yds, 2 TD, 1 Int - a 118.6 rating.  Last year Peters was 37/64 (57.8%) with 486 yds, 4 TD, 0 Int - a 142.2 rating.  Seems comparable, with the edge going to Peters.  But maybe I'm missing some intangibles that you are catching.

"I hate to get political..." but let me get political.  If you "hate to" then why do it?

04/03/2018 - 5:26pm JB needs a raise!  He is

JB needs a raise!  He is worth every penny - a great coach and a better human being.  Sparty and OSU folks I know hate Michigan, but it seems that they all like coach.  Even after last night's loss, he was so composed and caring in all of the interviews.  I'm sure that he didn't feel like doing any of them, but he was awesome.

03/31/2018 - 4:13pm I think you may have your

I think you may have your timeline and order of events confused somewhat.  MICHIGAN submitted the application to the NCAA on February 26, according to the Detroit News.  Michigan's athletic department, including its Chief Compliance Officer, worked with Shea's attorney in constructing the application. From reports, I recall the the NCAA delayed in sending the packet to Ole Miss.

03/30/2018 - 2:59pm Absolutely correct.  There is

Absolutely correct.  There is no slight here whatsoever to Michigan – or any of the other schools in the final four, as I see it.  It was an interesting article, and you could only interpret that the author was bashing anyone if you were looking to have hurt feelings.  I could easily see something like this being written by a Michigan professor, only with a much more negative view of athletics and its impact on academics.

03/22/2018 - 3:37am Knights on Liberty has a

Knights on Liberty has a large tv at the end of the dining area, and smaller tvs at the bar and other end of the dining area.  Also has great food and mixed drinks.  This is a excellent combo for watching the game and talking business.

03/13/2018 - 5:48pm I hope that Mississippi State

I hope that Mississippi State doens't get sued for something Ole Miss did.  That would be a horrible precedent!  Sorry, had to do it.

03/06/2018 - 3:51pm I think Michigan was expected

I think Michigan was expected to be average and exceeded expectations, particularly to close the season.  I pulled up about 5 preseason B10 previews and Michigan was picked to finish anywhere from 5th to 8th in the conference.  Michigan finished tied for 4th, but lit everything on fire to close the season; the team probably would have finished higher without the compressed schedule.

02/15/2018 - 4:06pm I don't think this has

I don't think this has anything to do with political parties and everything to do with MSU alumni/insiders. Let us not forget that Blanchard (D) is also involved. Gretchen Whitmer, former Ingham County Prosecutor and Democrat failed to prosecute, is also running for Governor, and is an MSU alumnae. But hey, if it makes you feel good, I guess you can continue to blame it on Engler.

02/09/2018 - 11:38am I don't think you are

I don't think you are accurately describing Ed and Craig's opinions on the mattter.  It seemed to me that they all implied that higher recruits generally do better.  Now, they all didn't stomp their feet and talk over the others with "Blah, blah, blah, no 5* offensive tackles!"  I thought Craig had a good take on recruiting...are the coachs selecting 3* players based upon thier needs and own evaluation, or are they "thowing darts" and taking these guys because that's all they can get?  Seems like a reasonable question that won't be answered for some time.  I know it doesn't fit the doom and gloom mood many have, but reason should win out over emotion.

02/09/2018 - 11:25am Is it because Ed and Craig

Is it because Ed and Craig “have no clue” or is it simply because they disagree with him?  I listen to this weekly and enjoy the segment, including contributions from Brian, Ed, Craig, Sam, and Ira.  However, Brian often seems very dismissive and condescending when anyone disagrees with him.  This includes Sam when talking about recruiting….many may think Sam “blows sunshine” but I’m certain that he knows far more about recruiting than anyone else on the roundtable.

02/08/2018 - 7:48pm Have we had the same coach

Have we had the same coach and methods for a decade?

02/08/2018 - 3:31pm I believe that Space Coyote's

I believe that Space Coyote's argument is that Brian can be wrong.  I'm sure that he is often wrong.  Running or owning a website does not make one all knowing.  Brian was pretty negative this morning...the other guys on the MGOBLOG roundtable were not.

02/08/2018 - 3:28pm Can you pull all of those

Can you pull all of those early '90s Rivals recuriting profiles?  I think I missed them.

02/07/2018 - 12:51pm FIU, Maryland, Memphis,

FIU, Maryland, Memphis, Cincinnati, ECU, Navy, Austin Peay, SMU, UCONN, Temple, South Florida, Memphis (giving up 55 pts), and Auburn.

That is UCF's schedule that resulted in an undefeated season.  Auburn was their big win, give them credit.  However, many teams would have been undefeatd with that schedule.  There's a reason they weren't in the playoff.

02/07/2018 - 12:44pm To me, it looked like

To me, it looked like Michigan did compete with OSU.  In fact, should/could have won the last two years.  They were blown out in year 1, but have played very tough the last two years.  Were you one who thought Harbaugh could take over the tire fire here and immediately destroy OSU, which has been building for YEARS?

02/07/2018 - 1:05am They kept filling it up with

They kept filling it up with 3-9, 5-7, etc; even if they did have to give away a few tickets with the purchase of a bottle of coke.  Anyway, I think attendnace will be fine after one 8 win season.

02/05/2018 - 5:46pm I, for one, am also skeptical

I, for one, am also skeptical of many “professional educators and administrators.”  It’s difficult to argue that they all have the academic interests of the institution in mind when making decisions.  Academic rankings have fallen at many universities headed by such professionals.  Furthermore, it’s likely that a large portion of university administrators are appointed because of who they know, so that’s probably not the disqualifier that some think it is or should be.  It seems that a lot of criticism by some commenters is related to politics rather than performance.

02/05/2018 - 1:02am Never get the "cheating"

Never get the "cheating" allegations.  You don't cheat your way to 5 super bowl wins in 17 years.  Every professional team takes every advantage it can get.  My guess is that most of these allegations likely come from Pats haters.  Giants-Jets-Steeler-Colts-Ravens fan?

02/05/2018 - 12:59am And several clear holding

And several clear holding calls as well.  Saw a lot of gabbing by the OL - wonder why there weren't any sacks until the Brady sack fumble - and a lot of PI, as you point out.

01/29/2018 - 9:58am Michigan won 10 games the

Michigan won 10 games the frist two seasons with Drevno.  I'm not sure anyone should be scared because we only won 8 games last year with injured QBs and a basically all freshman WR corps.  The other 2 wins were there with just a little better QB play - and one of them was OSU.  However, I'm not sure that Pep adds much.  Don't disagree that they need some shakeup, because it needs to improve signifcantly in 2018.  Having a top 20 defense and the #105 total offense isn't going to cut it.

That "shock" really applies to all media outlets, based upon the resginations and firings we've seen at nearly all major networks, newspapers, radio, etc.

01/24/2018 - 3:21pm Were you counting on them

Were you counting on them brining in Jed?  As someone mentioned, this is approximately his 3rd landing spot since the UCLA staff was fired.  There wasn't much chance of him coming here, so this news really doesn't impact UM.
