Malik Zaire does not appear to be Happy with the 3 QB situation at Florida

Submitted by Duval Wolverine on

Malik Zaire does not appear to be happy with the 3 QBs decision by Head coach and had this to say:

"Obviously it's not ideal," Zaire said. "I don't think anybody in the quarterback room wants that. But at the end of the day, you just got to do what Coach wants. I feel like Coach should be confident enough to stick with a guy and be able to roll with that guy because that's best for the team. When you have all these quarterbacks, you still have none at the end of the day.

"Being decisive, just like how quarterbacks have to be on the field, is [what's] most important for this team's success. ... I just leave it up to those coaches to make the great decisions that they do. That's why they get paid the big bucks. I just play my game and know I'll be ready when my number's called."

This is quite a statement coming from a kid who just transferred into the program.  I read it as being decisive is what the team need to win and at the same time alludes to the fact that the coaches are not being decisive with regard to picking one guy to try to lead the team at QB.

I see no way that this goes well for Zaire or the team chemistry.

Used to live in north FL.  That fan base is not far from the same type of people that root for a certain school not too far south of us.  Insufferable SOB's.  Winning this game will be so much sweeter for me knowing how miserable it will make those I still know from my time spent down there.

I'm just going to say it, but I really think this game vs Florida could get ugly in Michigan's favor. 3 qbs is never a good idea, they'll spend the whole game trying to get in rhythm and it might never happen. With Florida's off field issues and their own youth to break in they'll really be depending on their D to stay close. If Michigan scored an early TD, watch out

We'll see. Michigan's offense has got it's own kinks to work out with so many young guys coming into the fold. If Florida's defense comes to play, they'll make it tough sledding for Michigan's offense.

At this point, I'd say what Michigan needs to focus on is:

1) Take what Florida's defense gives you. I don't expect our offense to be a worldbeater next week, but 17-21 points in this game may very well be enough to win. Don't force plays against a good defense when your own guys are still trying to work out the kinks.

2) Don't give Florida's offense a short field to work with. Punting will be huge in this game. Pin them deep inside their own 20 on a consistent basis and make them go the length of the field. I don't trust they'll be able to consistently put solid drives together until I see it happen.

I think initially it was a strategy that sharkhumper was trying to use to have one of the qb's go and win it in training camp. I guess one of them didnt and it may backfire or it may light a fire in one of the qb's butts to go and take it this week.

I think Zaire and Del Rio have hit their ceilings and that ceiling isn't very high.  That leaves Franks who looks the part but is a RS Frosh.  That is a tough match up for him to start his career.  That DL with Don Brown schemes and blitzes could really rattle the young man.  I think he is their future at QB for now, but does McElwaine want to throw him out there in week 1 against Michigan?  I think that is where it stands IMO and he has another week to make a decision.

on when the QB's are coming around.  they look at you with those big black lifeless eyes and then they roll over and take your leg.

about 2 in the morning i bumped up against the 4th string QB.   when i nudged him, he tipped over.  the other QB's had bitten off his legs...'

and of course:

'cage goes in the water.  you go in the cage.  sharks in the water.  our shark is in the water....

farewell and adieu to you fair spanish ladies,

farwell and adieu to you ladies of spain

for we've just received orders for to sail back to boston,

and ne'er more shall we see you again'

I would not be at all surprised if the Florida QB derby goes gets reduced to 2 after those comments.  I'm guessing Zaire believes he's is leading the competition and that was the basis for his comments.  Would be funny though if the Coach Sharky takes those comments to task and names one of the other 2 the starter (or at least only plays the other 2).

On McElwains part to counter Harbaughs non-roster release. I think Zaires quote sufficiently counters that. McElwain aint that clever, but he just might be that inept

and be the QB. I get it, so do the other two QB's.  Maybe none of them have distanced themselves and McElwain is going to play all three until one gets hot and shows he deserves to be the starter.

I don't think what he said is a big deal, he's just competitve.

Zaire is incredibly overrated and probably has a bloated ego because of it

Every year of his college career he was hyped up a Notre Dame. Never really did anything there. Had a single good game his entire career

If Zaire isnt able to beat out Floridas Freshman Qb and their extremely medicore QB Del Rio then Floridas QB situation is horrible

I'm sure this will go over well.  If we know anything about McElwain, it's that he has thick skin and just lets comments he may not like just roll off his back.

Rumor I heard was that the dude spent $70K to try to scrub the internet rankings that put that photo with his name (SEO optimization/"reputation defender" type of services).
