This is a bad take

01/17/2019 - 10:22am I feel bad for Faehn because…

I feel bad for Faehn because - from everything I've read and gathered - she seemed to be worthy of this chance and this could have been introduced in such a way that she could join the staff just fine.

The error here seems to be entirely on Warde. He needed to be out in front of us this one, introduce it to the Michigan public and say why they wanted to do this, why it was ok, why they believe in Rhonda Faehn's character, etc. Instead they didn't announce it and tried to hide it which is bizarre. Totally bungled by the Michigan AD. They need to take a look into their PR department / protocol and figure out how the heck they screwed that up so bad

Come on man

I had never heard of Engler before MSU (not a Michigan native). I dislike him because he's a scumbag who was brazenly trying to sweep this investigation under the rug while also publicly slandering the victims. You say you aren't making this about politics but you are obviously insinuating that its the 'dems' who threw him out for political reasons.

01/17/2019 - 6:09am I don't know why mishandling…

I don't know why mishandling a sexual assault investigation and then publicly slandering the victims is being made into a political divide. I'd hope both parties would stand against that, but if we're saying Engler was only forced out because of political differences then what does that say about the party that was protecting him at MSU

I hang out at reddit cfb to escape the echo chamber / get the vantage point of other fanbases. I have no desire to hang out at 11W or RCMB though

01/16/2019 - 5:50am Fields case is that there…

Fields case is that there was some type of racial incident with another athlete who I believe was expelled for it. That's a crappy situation, but it seems like a one-off. Shea and everyone else at Ole Miss was misled about the severity of the sanctions Ole Miss was about to receive. Not the same situation and I'd wager if Fields had beat out Fromm that suddenly he wouldn't be so concerned about some hostile atmosphere at UGA

Well that's good news! Most of the guys we're recruiting now don't remember the Horror.

Duke will probably stay at #1 because this is a big time quality loss as Syracuse did beat #1 Duke

Are you following umbig11 at this point? I feel like I've seen you going at him out of nowhere more than a few times now

umbig11 knows people who know things, sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. Such is the nature of rumors and uncertain situations

01/14/2019 - 6:07am Yeah I think that's the…

Yeah I think that's the takeaway. It's not necessarily whether Faehn was or was not worthy of being hired, it was how badly the university handled the hiring. After screaming about MSU being tone deaf, it's really amazing Michigan thought sneaking her onto the staff was going to work and wasn't going to draw a huge backlash. Really poor leadership, PR, whatever you want to call it from the AD.

01/14/2019 - 6:01am I think it's quite possible…

I think it's quite possible she did do her job appropriately, is a good person, etc., but the point is that Michigan royally screwed up trying to hire her. By trying to sneak her in and hoping to not have anyone notice, Warde was just begging for a fall out like this. If they had been extremely transparent on this one, there's a shot this could've worked. As it is, they totally botched it, got rightfully called out, and had no choice but to back track it while looking very stupid

01/12/2019 - 12:36pm I’m for second chances but…

I’m for second chances but the optics of hiring 1) the person who Aly Raisman apparently told explicit detail of her assault and then 2) doing so without an announcement of any kind is a horrible look. This is the type of hire that would need a press release from Warde himself or maybe a full presser to justify. Hiding it means the AD is fully aware of how bad the optics are and were hoping no one would notice. Terrible judgement

01/11/2019 - 3:26pm On the field results have…

On the field results have been up and down over the last 15 years, but recruiting always goes well. There's not much to worry about other than can Michigan finish in the top 5 instead of just the top 10

01/11/2019 - 12:49pm I was wondering if he might…

I was wondering if he might end up at one of the Michigan DII schools since he's from Detroit. GVSU or Ferris seems like good spots

01/11/2019 - 12:48pm Those names don't really…

Those names don't really move the excitement needle, but easier SoS is the easier path to the CFP and that's what I want more than interesting non-conference opponents

01/11/2019 - 12:30pm If he wants to play, I…

If he wants to play, I wonder where he goes. He didn't even get a sniff of a starting role at the FBS level. Seems like he might need to drop to DII to play

Very true. I live in the north but just went to the mid-atlantic this week. It's immediately apparent how much more integrated it is even just a few hours from the 'north'. A lot of people don't realize that MLK spent a lot of time in the north and midwest as well...

01/10/2019 - 3:37pm Interesting for multiple…

Interesting for multiple reasons.

1) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall anyone being called the actual OC around here in the last few years. It's always run game coordinator and pass game coordinator. Is this a change in the coaching hierarchy?

2) If he is OC, what does that make Pep

01/10/2019 - 2:08pm For every Russell Wilson, I…

For every Russell Wilson, I'll bet you can find ten more great college QBs under 6' who didn't do squat. I heard a lot of Russell Wilson 2.0's when Manziel was coming out too

01/10/2019 - 2:06pm Watch Fields get immediate…

Watch Fields get immediate eligibility in a fraction of the time it took for Shea to clear, because that's just how things go in Columbus

01/10/2019 - 12:19pm Seems nuts for both Murray…

Seems nuts for both Murray and the Cardinals.

For the Cardinals, you're going to trade your 2nd year 1st round QB for a 5'9" QB? A QB that is small and running is a big part of his game? I am not seeing how he is going to translate well to the NFL

And for Murray- I guess if he loves football, then he loves football, but it sure seems like he has far better odds of success in the MLB along with the increased pay and decreased likelihood of serious injury

01/05/2019 - 9:55pm I agree. He stays at Buffalo…

I agree. He stays at Buffalo, has a decent senior season, and the draftniks hype him as a Josh Allen (tall, raw, big arm) or as the next Ben Roethlisberger coming out of the MAC and the dude is probably a 1st or 2nd round pick if he has a solid season

If he goes to P5 school and (in my opinion) gets exposed for what he is - which is a not very good QB - then he could really tank his draft stock

01/05/2019 - 9:45pm Obviously Malzone didn't pan…

Obviously Malzone didn't pan out, but Tyree Jackson isn't that special either and P5 teams were right to pass on him. He's basically getting the Josh Allen treatment right now (Did you know he's TALL?), but Jackson's game-by-game stats are thoroughly 'meh' on a pretty good UB team. He certainly wasn't the primary reason Buffalo had such a good season

01/05/2019 - 8:40am Ah. So if we just write MAGA…

Ah. So if we just write MAGA real big on our helmets next year, we'll finally beat OSU? Didn't know it could be so simple

01/02/2019 - 10:23am What really changed though?…

What really changed though? Most of the bowl games are feelingsball games anyway. Did the Fiesta Bowl really get that much more bland or was it always fairly bland? I don't remember the equivalent 'NY6' bowls being so much better 10 years ago in the BCS. It was still a glorified participation trophy for teams being very good, but not national title contenders.

I think part of the issue with the CFP is that FBS is resistant to just copying every other football league because of the heavy influence of TV and bowl money. Conference title games kinda suck and these gigantic 16 team leagues suck. The playoff should probably be more than 4 teams and the semis (or quarters) should be at the home stadium of the higher seed just like every other football league does. We have this dumb basterdized bowl-CFP format going on because the big bowl games are never going to let that sweet, sweet bowl money out of their grubby hands.

The fact that Alabama and Clemson are in it every year contributes because it's boring and the parity in CFB has never felt worse to me. Feels like there are <5 teams with any realistic shot of winning it all in any given year. Boring.

Tie. Bummer, we just aren't very good this year

12/31/2018 - 12:25pm 'Didn't we want to get those…

'Didn't we want to get those guys involved more?' You're going to hear some rumblings this offseason, and you might see some players leave for opportunities to be more involved in the offense elsewhere. You can't keep telling guys they'll get touches and then not get them touches

— Michael Spath (@MichaelSpathITH) December 31, 2018

Can't wait to see some really talented guys go elsewhere because we insist on trying to manball the other team to death like it's 1978. I don't want to start throwing out names, but it's a fairly short list of really talented guys who seem to get 1-2 targets per game

12/31/2018 - 12:18pm I dropped the super extra…

I dropped the super extra cable package in my area (out of state) which means I don't get BTN which means I basically never get to see the hockey team anymore. If M hockey was on regular BTN more often, I'd probably pay up to get the upper package, but I recall them shoving most games on BTN+. I always thought the creation of the BTHC would result in a lot more hockey on BTN but that doesn't seem to be the case.

12/31/2018 - 11:11am I do love this pot calling…

I do love this pot calling the kettle black mentality. Yes, the players are making a selfish (and in my opinion, correct) decision to sit out the bowl game, but it's pretty rich when fans decry their selfishness without also acknowledging that our desire for them to play in this game is selfish on our part. We selfishly want Michigan to not get destroyed by Florida which is a fine thing to want, but let's not pretend like we're on some high moral pedestal

12/31/2018 - 11:07am The last 4 years have…

The last 4 years have certainly held a healthy amount of gut punches, but if you told me in 2013 that we were going to hire Harbaugh and he'd win 10 games in 3 of the next 4 years I would take it no question. Obviously there is still room for improvement on Harbaugh's end, but I swear our fanbase loves being miserable

12/29/2018 - 11:48am Here's my reasonable…

Here's my reasonable prediction: Harbaugh & Co actually do air it out a ton today. Shea gets to 300 yds passing and win or lose, the passing game looks awesome. We spend all off season getting hyped about the Harbaugh Air Raid attack coming this fall...and then we go right back to the same offense we saw this regular season again and we all continue to complain about the offensive play calling

12/29/2018 - 10:41am because their talking heads…

because their talking heads are guys like Pollack and Galloway. I love their game coverage, but they continue to employ morons in key talking positions because a moron who says dumb things unfortunate garners more attention (and revenue) than a knowledgeable guy

12/28/2018 - 12:07pm Seems like another under…

Seems like another under-utilized receiving threat. After he started showing up on the scene 2(?) years ago, I thought he was going to be our go-to guy for 3rd & medium or less. Seemed like the guy caught everything in his radius. He largely vanished this year.

Seems like a team with Tarik/DPJ/Nico at WR, Gentry/McKeon at TE, and Perry in the slot should be passing the ball a whole lot more than we do. But what do I know...

Go Kentucky too

12/28/2018 - 10:39am Obviously it's way early,…

Obviously it's way early, but I'd expect Wisconsin to bounce back and PSU to continue to fade in the post-Moorhead world. Notre Dame and OSU will likely be top 5-10 opponents but at least we get them at home. Next year's schedule looks so much nicer than this year's

12/27/2018 - 5:30pm I do like some form of your…

I do like some form of your rule like 'To qualify as a P5 Champ auto-bid you must have 10 wins or else you are vying for an at-large' or something like that. No sense in letting something like an 8-5 P5 team in the playoff in the event they pull off a miracle (which will definitely happen).

Having the P5 champions be dependent on wins seems like a cool way to make the title games really interesting, but keep riff raff P5 teams out of the playoff

12/27/2018 - 12:22pm I agree, but there's too…

I agree, but there's too much money in bowl games and the guys controlling all of this love money. I think the importance of bowl games has been diluted just as much by the sheer number of pointless ones between mediocre opponents. A bowl game between 6-6 Georgia Tech and 7-5 Minnesota is a prime example.

If we want to have the CFP and make bowl games important, then you should have to win 9 games to make a bowl. Never going to happen though

12/27/2018 - 12:20pm The stupid SEC keeps their…

The stupid SEC keeps their myth going by not playing anyone in the non-con, only playing 8 conference games, saving a bodybag for November, and then they all just crow like they have a hand in Alabama's greatness. They've been a paper tiger (minus Alabama) for years. I'm tired of all the credit they get for doing nothing outside of their own league

12/27/2018 - 12:16pm I don't know how you can say…

I don't know how you can say this

For those who think the CFP is a good thing, well it isnt..its still a Mythical title when the Conference Champions of one of the top 2 leagues in the country doesnt even qualify and not just once but 3 times..its a sham a scam and this system is desinged to favor the SEC

We finally have a real way to determine an actual national champion and we're still unhappy about this? Should we go back to playing bowl games only where the top teams rarely play each other? Seems to be a justification to make the CFP go to 6-8 teams rather than get rid of it

The Big Ten didn't have a top 4 team this year

12/27/2018 - 5:51am Missing on the CFP is going…

Missing on the CFP is going to help the Big Ten look good this offseason. Every one of those matchups looks favorable for the B1G except for MSU-Oregon and Purdue-Auburn to my eyes.

I like the NFL and I like college. It will never cease to amaze me how many NFL-only type guys think that all college coaches are just biding their time, dying for their shot in the 'real' football league. Literally cannot grasp that maybe Harbaugh or Saban or anyone else is happier coaching college than the NFL.

12/21/2018 - 3:51pm Wow a Tennessee troll. That…

Wow a Tennessee troll. That's new.

Michigan has won 10 games in 3 of the last 4 years. Tennessee has won 10 games in 3 of the last 15 years and those years are 03, 04, and 07.

Tennessee is a lot closer to Rutgers than they are to Michigan

12/21/2018 - 2:24pm I hate it when people bring…

I hate it when people bring out the dollar signs too quick, but Tennessee has been a hot mess for 10-15 years, totally botched their last coaching search and ended up with like their 6th or 7th choice, and just went 5-7 (2-6) and now they're winning recruiting battles all over the place

$$$$$$$$$$$$. Is Hugh at Rocky Top? I'll give it 3-4 years before they're busted
