Already Excited for Tomorrow
Go Blue is right! Haven’t had so much fun watching baseball since those Tigers runs of the early 2000s.
Not sure what to make of this as the Tigers were awful in the early 2000s
Captain Obvioso here but he probably means the Cabrera/Verlander/Granderson/et al years of the mid-2000's and on.
Please do not forget Magglio. He did that thing. It was fun.
They mean 1968.
Short memory. Get it done tomorrow.
We’ve got a great shot tomorrow. We were pretty in this game even with a ton of errors and a pretty rough pitching outing. Bring out the aces tomorrow and we’ve got a great shot
Vandy won’t score a run tomorrow. Take it to ‘em boys!!!
Rough pitching? We gave up 3 earned runs, only 6 hits with 10 K’s. Repeat that tomorrow and we win.
There's a reason we used 6? pitchers. Two of the runs may have been technically "earned" but they were the result of pitches being thrown into the dirt and unable to be handled by the catcher.
That was just one bad pitching performance by a guy who has had control issues all year. The other pitchers did really well.
Yeah that's a fair take. Admittedly this is only my third M baseball game I've watched and the other two were Tommy Henrys last two outings which probably skewed the way last night felt. In short, I should probably just shut up and watch haha.
The uncharacteristic Blomgren error was big. And two runs scored on passed balls, both of which Donovan didn't have good technique on. I think on his better days he gets his body in front of those and prevents the runs. Not our best defensive game by a long shot. The relievers looked like they were a little anxious. Had trouble throwing accurate pitches. I have a feeling our fielders will be locked in tomorrow.
In fairness to the relievers, the parade of nervous arms hadn’t gotten any meaningful work in the last 3 weeks, then found themselves in the highest pressure situation they’ve ever faced. I’m hoping we got that out of our system and can play with the looseness we had on Monday night. A lot depends on how comfortable Kauffmann looks hitting his spots. Still, it is a privilege to be competing at this level and whatever happens, this team will have good reason to be proud of how they’ve represented the eight letters.
While we escaped relatively unscathed, we used a ton of pitchers and Vanderbilt made a ton of contact. I know outs are outs, but there were so many very deep fly balls and barely foul home runs that it easily could've been much worse
Can't really complain about giving up four runs to a loaded lineup. Whatever, we move on to tomorrow.
People here don't realize just how good Kumar Rocker is. If he'd gone pro out of high school he would've been a top 10 pick. He JUST pitched a no-no.
But he won't be pitching tomorrow night.
And their closer threw 35-ish pitches I think...? Maybe take something off his edge tomorrow too.
the last pitch was his 40th of the night. That's a long 3 innings.
This surprised me, I couldn’t believe they ran their closer out there for 3 innings. Hickman is good, very good, but they’ve burnt their two best arms between the 50 pitch outing by their #4 starter yesterday and 40 pitch outing by their closer today. I’d be astonished if either are available. Get to the bullpen and we’ve got a great shot at this.
That is why Bakich held his main guns for tomorrow. He knew our chances tonight were slim at best. That was his luxury after winning Game 1.
Unfortunatley, Vandy has Mason Hickman going tomorrow and he is a beast too.
yes. tough call to make on the starter tonite. that's why he gets paid the bucks. i really thought vandy was going to win like a 10-1 game tonite after i saw the pitching plan. the team really played tough despite the long odds. we have a great shot tomorrow.
Go Blue!!!
This is false
Rocker was in the draft out of high school but wasn't selected in the first 2 rounds so he opted to go to Vanderbilt
Simple google search
This is false
He got picked in the 38th round because teams knew they couldn't sign him. Same with Cole Wilcox. If Rocker wasn't such a strong commitment to Vandy, he would have been taken in the middle of the 1st round.
Simply google the 2018 MLB Draft rankings and see how high he was ranked
Damn right! We're playing in the last game of the College World Series! Who's Got It Better Than Us?!
Nwo-buddy
Damn right!
And Get Well, Jordan!
As a matter of fact, I'm gonna pull the old glove out from the basement and wear all game tomorrow! It's been a few years since I've had the old glove on in front of the tv during a game.
Extremely excited!
This has been a dream for me to have my two favorite programs playing for it. Besides that I'm thrilled to see Bakich get a shot against his mentor, even though I'm cheering for the mentor.
The VU radio announcer (Joe Fisher) said tonight that Corbin had played an instrumental role in recommending Bakich to U-M. I wasn't aware of that, or had forgotten.
Without one coach, Corbin, neither of these teams would be playing for the championship. That says a lot about him.
Exactly. I suppose you could make a highly speculative case that Michigan's institutional resources/commitment could mean taking another path to get here. But there was nothing about Vanderbilt baseball in 2003 to suggest this was in the future. And as Corbs said, without Bakich as his right-hand man it might not have happened.
Win tomorrow. Give it all. Bring home a championship. Michigan certainly deserves one.
Go Blue
Love this team and the energy they've brought. Couldn't capitalize tonight on the opportunities, but they hang together every at bat. Credit to Rocker and Vandy for solid ball and making Michigan pay for their mistakes.
All in for MICHIGAN tomorrow...GO BLUE!!! 〽️⚾
Go Blue! Play loose, have fun, and win tomorrow.
On to the next game. Go blue
This was a must-win game for them, and now Rocker is behind us. We can do this!
I think right now Rocker would be a pretty good starter in MLB. He's a bit unpolished and needs to improve his stamina as the pitch count goes above 75 but damn that guy can paint the edges of the box at 92 to 96mph as well as any amateur out there. The fastball-slider combo is lethal.
Rocker is the real deal. It's good that we'll be able to put out Criswell/Kaufman tomorrow and have our hitters hopefully be able to score some runs

It's only appropriate this team wins it the hard way. Go Blue!
This. So much this. Team 153 has not done things the easy way all tourney long. But they bounced back against Creighton and against UCLA, and I have every reason to believe they will do so again tomorrow.
I'm nervous. I think they may have blown their chance.
I actually think they improved their chance by saving Kauffmann and Criswell for tomorrow, and having Rocker and most of Brown in the rear view mirror.
BPONE is for cowards.
No pressure on Michigan tomorrow, its all on Vandy. They're the favorite - by a mile! Should be a helluva game...
Go BLUE!!!
It all boils down to one game. Glad Criswell and Kauffmann will both be available. Weather in Ohama for tonight looks stormy.
Go Blue!
I think the strategy was obvious with the Paige start. Coach didn't expect to get much of anything off Rocker so why burn your #2 starter? pitch the whole bullpen and if we got a late lead, I can almost guarantee we would have seen Criswell. the issue with that strategy is the team can see it too, so maybe they relax a little, and commit some bad errors and allow balls to get past them. If I'm Vandy, I'm happy with the win sure, but knowing we played against the hardly used bullpen, only won 4-1, with 3 runs handed to us on the Blomgren error and 2 wild pitches, how confident am I going into game 3 against the #2 starter and top reliever? I think Coach put us in great position to win tonight. what more could you ask for except a couple more days of rest to throw Henry again? and you bet he is available for a couple outs tonight if needed. Hail, Go Blue!
