That SC-WSU game is Friday night. Hopefully Pac 13 After Dark is a Friday thing too.

09/05/2017 - 5:41pm Army West Point

My uncle went to West Point and I have rooted for the Black Knights almost for as long as I have rooted for UM. Beat Navy.

08/29/2017 - 10:18pm Spread or Straight Up

Are these picks against the spread or straight up? I was assuming ATS because they are listed, but I figured I should be absolutely sure.

04/13/2017 - 9:50pm Warren Nolan

Warren Nolan is another good place to check. I know sites like D1baseball.com and baseballamerica.com will frequently cite these numbers when they put together their regional projections.

04/01/2017 - 4:07pm Well said

Very well written, Ace. Glad to see all that time in Angell Hall with Latin/Classics rubbed off a little bit.

11/20/2016 - 3:46pm I see what you did there.

I see what you did there.

07/18/2016 - 7:46pm ValparaisoI did my undergrad

Valparaiso

I did my undergrad there and work there now (with a grad school stop at UM sandwiched in between). I thought they were going to play in 2013 first round of NCAA tournament, which would have been the worst thing for me ever.

West Point

My uncle went there (class of 72). I would love to see a game at Michie Stadium. I've been inside, but not there for a game.

There was nothing wrong with that name, until that no talent ass clown got famous and started winning Grammys.

He hears a hurricane is coming and prepares the house (boarding up all the windows et al.), the hurricane is Testaverde.

05/20/2015 - 4:24pm Getting married on Friday is

Getting married on Friday is an excellent suggestion. My wife and I got married the Friday before the MSU game last year. It's nice to have two full days to recover instead of just one, and as others have mentioned, Fridays are generally less expensive for venues.

Open seating (if you can swing it) is also a great suggestion. It's fun watching people come together and create new friendships, and it also saves you the aggrivation of trying to remember which cousins should not sit near each other under any circumstances.

I found that suits work out better than tuxes. For a little bit more (and Jos. A. Bank will always do the buy 1 get 2 free for weddings, even if the sale isn't currently going on) than the cost of renting a tux, everyone gets to buy a suit. People really appreciated having a suit to take home instead of just renting a tux for the day.

04/08/2015 - 12:24pm Seconded

I second that. Due to her sheer awesomeness (and Jennie Ritter's on the mound as well) during that NC year, Sam Bam has to top the list.

02/18/2015 - 9:43pm Ones I have attended:1) 1996

Ones I have attended:
1) 1996 College World Series championship game - LSU's Warren Morris (later a Tiger) hits a walkoff home run to beat Miami.
2) 1996 NCAA Tournament Princeton upsetting defending champion UCLA on a back door play. The RCA Dome chanted "Pete Carrill, Pete Carrill" after the game. It was awesome.
3) Braylon-fest
4) Michigan 4, North Dakota 3 in the 1998 Hockey tournament - The loudest I have ever heard Yost.
5) The Game 1997

01/12/2015 - 4:42pm 1 and 2 get double byes, 3

1 and 2 get double byes, 3 and 4 get one. 5 plays 8 and 6 plays 7 in first round. The winners play 3 and 4 and those winners advance to semis against 1 and 2. This is how the West Coast Conference runs its conference basketball tournament.

12/17/2014 - 4:12pm First Annual

First annual gets me every time. I would love to explain to everyone who misues it what annual means, but I don't have that kind of time.

It's in the glove box, along with the road maps and ice scraper.

10/25/2014 - 6:09pm My parents had dropped me and

My parents had dropped me and my sister off at the game. My mom called just as Michigan was getting the onside kick to say they were ready for us whenever we wanted leave. I couldn't hear a word she was saying, so we stayed. I will never forget the experience of that 4th quarter and overtime.

08/22/2013 - 5:23pm Here goes

30, male, Valparaiso, IN, MA from UM in 2010 (BA 2005 and MS 2013 from Valpo), right handed, dad graduated from UM, we have had season tickets since 1993, I have a ring and a girl, but I haven't given it to her yet (hopefully in the next few weeks)

02/08/2013 - 11:06am Best Winning Percentage

In case of ties, the standings list the team with best overall winning percentage first without taking tiebreakers into account. So Michigan's 21-2 (.913) is better than Indiana's 20-3 (.870), which in turn is better than MSU's 19-4 (.826).

10/31/2012 - 1:26pm Still Solich at OHIO

Addazio is leading Temple through its first season in the Big East. Frank Solich is the head man at OHIO.

12/01/2011 - 1:12pm That's 2012

NYD 2012 is on a Sunday with the major bowl games being played January 2. NYD 2013 is a Tuesday, so bowl games would be played as normal on January 1.

11/06/2011 - 3:01pm Saving the timeout

I was surprised (and my apologies if this has been covered elsewhere) that UM didn't hustle up to the line after Roundtree's catch and spike it to save the timeout. You lose a shot at the end zone that way (so maybe that was the thinking), but it would have allowed the run to be an option before 4th and goal.

11/05/2011 - 4:18pm Excellent Liar, Liar Reference

Excellent Liar, Liar reference. One of Jim Carrey's best.

10/31/2011 - 2:36pm Not at all

I agree with the others who have replied to this. I will assuredly give you Alabama and LSU. Maybe Arkansas, depending on which team shows up for Bobby Petrino. Beyond that, the SEC isn't much better than the B1G. The SEC folks will try to tel you that their conference is best because anyone can beat anyone (like how Vandy should have beaten Arkansas). In reality, what this means is that the SEC has two outstanding teams, one really good one, and nine who fall somewhere in between mediocre and awful. So no, the B1G's best would not get drilled by the SEc's fourth best team.

10/25/2011 - 12:22pm Crete-Monee

Standifer's Warriors host Bloomington in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs at 2pm on Saturday.

10/02/2011 - 12:34am It will matter

It will matter a great deal if both the SEC champ (LSU or Alabama) and Oklahoma stay undefeated. UW won't pass either of them. And if Georgia is East champ at 10-2 and Boise stays undefeated, I'm not sure UW passes Boise either. Badgers don't have a win in OOC to hang their hat on.

Excellent Simpsons reference. Well done, sir. Well done.

09/23/2011 - 12:39pm I Agree

That was the biggest "statement" game from that decade.  From the moment Glen Steele dropped the quarterback (his name escapes me at the moment) on the fake end around through the end of the game, simply the most dominant performance of a fantastic season.
