Not that I don’t believe you (I don’t), but what makes you so sure that you would make this statement.
I’m of the opinion that this goes on everywhere, so while I don’t like it, there are other things I wouldn’t want Michigan involved with then this. I know it’s not an either or, but it seems a like this is the cost of doing business. And if the kid didn’t land on his feet, did you really want him playing for Michigan then?
Haha, but thanks for all you do with basketball recruiting updates. You should talk to Brian and see if you could do something like once a week (or every other) and maybe get it on the main page that would be a little more in-depth during basketball season. (I know you do that on your website, but maybe a good cross over?)
I agree that the blue bloods (Duke, KY, Kansas, etc.) typically don't have an abundance of seniors that play key roles, but for the rest of college basketball that isn't all that true. Even teams like MSU, Gonzaga, Villanova, Xavier, Tennessee, that seem to make a run every 3 or 4 years are typically senior heavy. I feel like Michigan is in that 2nd tier group looking to be more consistent, even though we will never be the 1 and done school due to "extra stuff" Beilein isn't willing to dabble with.
If realistic is Debbie Downer... count me in with him. It just is so tough to predict injuries, tough stretches, and this seems about right to me. I was just having this conversation with my dad and said top 20 team, 5 seed or better. After last night, I raised the bar to 16 and 4 seed.
Maybe I did come off as too snarky and for that I apologize Seth. This place and the content you guys provide has become such and enjoyment for me down in Florida and I tried to relay that in a comical way.
More of a jest... as I choose to believe yours was as well, but you can’t tell me there wasn’t a little disappointment as well when you didn’t see the usual podcast up and running.
This season has just been so much fun that my routine is so important to me.
I HAVENT CHANGED MY UNDERWEAR SINCE WESTERN MICHIGAN DAMNIT!
The thought that keeps coming back for me is in "All or Nothing" where his family is sitting on the couch and his dad says (paraphrasing), "If this is it, I'll be ok with that". They seem to be excited about the future but proud of their son's accomplishments. To be on top of the world like that to where he is not even 10 months later makes me feel for the kid.
If he does transfer (speculation), I hope he is able to get somewhere to play and play to the level he knows he can play at.
There were two plays though that really stick out to me that I think give away what’s going to happen.
One was when Thomas was in for the jet sweep. It seems so obvious what’s going to happen now that I hate that play. Much like McDoom last year.
The other was Pattersons run for the TD. Even though the fake worked, I think Evans in the game gives it away that there isn’t gonna be a short yardage run. Higdon would have helped that play go smoother in my opinion.
Overall great game, but those are two minor points that I’ve seen too much of and think we need to diversify a bit more from
Since you seem to want a brief overview (fair enough) I’ll try and give one.
Noting concrete about what’s going on, but they seem to believe that the longer he holds out, the less chance OSU has. They mostly talk about if they should take another DE if he doesn’t commit.
The fact that they are bringing this up and even discussing it gives me hope that they might have some inside info that he is leaning away from Columbus.
I think I saw that Ace posted that Watson was a top grade at CB for the weekend. There was a top 5 posted somewhere with Watson, Shea, Gentry, B-B (OL) and I forget the 5th as our top 5 graded guys.
There’s one on Netflix that follows Jared Leto and the making of their album and how the music industry screws over young bands and puts them in the hole right from the beginning. One of the best out there IMO.
I had deleted 4 times saying about the same thing. The house was 1.4 Million Dollars! Lets not make this out to be more then it is. He had to get rid of a house, and took a bath on it, and it happened to be someone with a child that could use the features that were in the house. Sounds like a good deal for buyers, and McElwain got rid of a house and didn't have to keep paying taxes/insurance/payments.
I totally agree that there is risk, and with not going after these players has an inherent risk too. Bringing in players that want to compete AND want to be at the university is what we should be looking for and that’s what Harbaugh is doing in my opinion. The rewards will come. Thanks for all your content SC, I appreciate your time and going through these things in greater detail then some of us have time to do.
I feel as if Michigan fans always complain about how we don’t go after these transfers and why can’t we get the top guy. Harbaugh is totally justified in this situation trying to make our team the best it can be and if that means rubbing a few people the wrong way, we can complain saying he didn’t try to get the National Championship. I love this and always want people that want to be at Michigan to be here, not just guys that think we were the easiest place to get playing time.
Title 9 won’t let a difference in pay, unless the athletes can make money out of their likeness, but I just don’t see the process changing that dramatically that fast. Hope I’m wrong.
I don’t disagree with athletes getting paid, I actually think they should, but they should also be responsible to pay for school then as well and make decisions like everyone else with a college job. Unfortunately school loans will be what most these kids will take out and that will put so many of them at a disadvantage later in life.
The real issue in my opinion is when the athletes can go pro, where the real money is, not the peanuts they will be making in college.
Naples resident here and worried sick from what I am seeing. If by chance you are wrong, do you mind donating your time down here to help us get back up and running? I feel like that is a fair trade off.
I have to have a book that's fiction given the situation I find myself in. This was a great book that is soon going to be a movie that I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed. If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and spend a weekend reading it.
This is one of the best cards UFC has put together bar none. Joe Rohan on his podcast this week was pumped for the pay per view and I hope it lives up to its billing.
I work at a Title 1 school in Fl and the state law says that you cannot be 16 and still be in middle school, which is why at that point we push kids up. Not saying true for this situation, or all situations, but we have PLENTY of students in that situation that if it wasn't for a late birthday would have to be pushed up to high school. It is a very different world from when I was in school.
He probably is about to turn 16. It's becoming more and more prevalent that kids are being held back either for grades or their parents are having them take "redshirt" years as young as 3rd grade. There is a great podcast on the redshirt year I think on The Sporting Report by ESPN
Harris played in all 13 games last season and started in eight at safety. Overall in 2016, the Orlando, Fla. native totaled 73 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, one sack, two interceptions, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Harris has appeared in 37 games during his career at UF.
But the thing about Urban doing it is OSU fans give us crap because they think they are soooooo above things like this. If they'd just admit Harbaugh is goofy but has some good ideas and is a hell of a coach I don't think anyone would have any issues.
This was some of the best content on here since UMBig11 showed up.
Thats the problem with people online, they are just looking to flame anyone that doesnt' "give all their sources" because they think they deserve it.
Thank you for your time. I live in FL now and don't get to AA as much as I would like anymore, so info like this, even if it is someones opinion (though it sounds like a damn good source), makes me feel like I am around the University again.

If I have time I’ll look it up later... but I wonder what the rosters of the final four teams look like from the past years.
Good info though mGrowOld.

Nice humble brag.

A picture just as good of the team celebrating in the locker room with Harbaugh.

At least mine has more info....
... I'll take the 'L'
Brian and company did a team recap for the Big Ten so we knew who was going to be good this year and players to look out for.
Instead, all we get is this damn Draftageddon...
But the thing about Urban doing it is OSU fans give us crap because they think they are soooooo above things like this. If they'd just admit Harbaugh is goofy but has some good ideas and is a hell of a coach I don't think anyone would have any issues.
Keep reading that as W...A...N?
.... then I hung my head in shame.
I told that to a guy I was playing cards with once...
I wish someone that is a regular poster did something like this on the front page...
That would be so helpful...
Oh well, can't have everything in life.
...damn, should have stopped teaching the summer school kids for minute.
He is just going to gather information for Brandon Jacobs to bring you down!
There is no way that a former 49ers running back could have had a good realtionship with you!
Be careful coach...
Your comment was horrific.
