Nice writeup and please never change that pic of Chris Collins for anything related to NW.  It should be at or near the same rank as Crean pants adjust.

01/07/2019 - 5:57pm I would say "fine, whatever…

I would say "fine, whatever we beat Notre Dame the years he was there and not Michigan" however we were 3-3 with no rhyme or reason to scores.

Still.

Nothing is real.   It's gone pear shaped in my head.  Loyalty is absolutely dead.  Whatever.

01/06/2019 - 3:18pm I think the podcast…

I think the podcast enlightened me that we are *dead last* in tempo.  It worked this year against inferior talent and coaching but it must seem like a gift to competent teams.  Install a tempo package please.

I am not sure GoingGoingBlue really wants to enjoy this game.

12/29/2018 - 1:59pm anyone who *expected* a win…

anyone who *expected* a win today should remember at least 3 of our top players are sitting and a starting OT is injured.  I am enjoying the team and basically treating it like the first game of a new season.  Zero expectations.

12/19/2018 - 9:36am You created memories this…

You created memories this year Devin whether literally throwing players into the ground or showing your passionate *hate* of Staee.  You were a general on the field and I have no doubt the defense was vocal because of you.

Signed Woodson Jersey sure did!

Thank you for your sacrifice.  I too can relate to bizarre, incoherent rambling about Michigan football since most of my friends hate sports.

12/18/2018 - 12:52pm If we could get the Ann…

If we could get the Ann Arbor Fire Department on board I am all for burning memorabilia on or around November 30 as a sacrifice to the football gods to win the [expletive] Game.  As to superstitions I have the following:

1.  This year watching UM in the same room as mom has resulted in a big fat L.

2.  A favorite UM sweatshirt (ripped, tattered and bleach stained) given to me by my favorite uncle the day of the Game 2011 could be happily torched if it would deliver a win.

3.  Years in which I pretend to workout like Ben Herbert is yelling in my ear the team gets 10 wins.  Years when I decide to drink a beer for every touchdown they do not.

Pretty much it's clear.  I workout every day til Nov. 29, 2019.  Give moms a TV and march into a UM tailgate yelling like a viking with my favorite sweatshirt burning in my hand.  That should result in a win.

paint them in scarlet and grey and watch their smiles disappear?

12/17/2018 - 3:54pm Yeah there has to be some of…

Yeah there has to be some of this attitude going especially given the three years of meltdowns in November then pretty humbling bowl losses.  I still think Michigan at least starts ready for Florida.  As of right now I have no idea whether they win this game given the mental rebound needed to get back on the field and practice well.  Shea and JH can only be cheerleaders for so long.  Team Captains sitting probably would not help.

Wait......we didn't play OSU yet this year, did we?

12/17/2018 - 10:27am The magic of this rivalry is…

The magic of this rivalry is that we get the talented Ohio players who seek something beyond OSU be it academically or otherwise.  When we lose Michigan players to OSU we seem to equate it to a failure of our Michigan system.  The recruitment of Weber likely failed because of what we were producing on the field at the time (2014 is a year we all want to forget).  Based on his tweet the week of the Game though it could be something deeper for Weber.  Sure it's a 21 year old who wants to mock an archrival but in every Game he played he was brought in (at least to me) to put the Game away.  The 2017 late game TD and his TD this year (maybe others) seemed to be tailor made for OSU to give him a highlight reel memory, a moment he will relish long into old age.  My point is he maybe have harbored a deep hatred for Michigan (as a state and as places with academic institutions).  The seeds get planted early (Think DeVeon Smith watching VHS tapes of MSU) and no doubt OSU stoked it for him during his time there.  It seemed though like he was the conduit for Michigan hatred.  Best of luck to him and forgive the psych eval here........he just seemed to hate us on a different plane and OSU seemed to condone it.

I watch him too and you can see his passion on screen.  His latest on "Urban Liar" was a little over the top but his presentation has pretty good entertainment value.

12/12/2018 - 8:21am This is a tough schedule. …

This is a tough schedule.  In hindsight it's tougher than 2018.  Let's be honest that it is all pretty much all window dressing until Nov. 30 imo.  PSU White Out followed by Notre Dame (likely night game) will probably be the gauntlet since they are bookended by road games. The defense should be pretty much reloaded.  If Shea returns it could be a special year although the flashes of McCaffrey we saw were extremely promising.   McCaffrey v. Martell (Year One) could be quality television.  These thoughts are healthy to have so let's all keep the comments/speculation coming, folks.

Do not pass up money for locally sourced, artisan lemons.........ever.

12/11/2018 - 12:57pm They've looked sharp…

They've looked sharp recently at The Barn.  I am seeing Kohl Center or whatever hardwood opium den exists in Columbus as the tough places.  I am actually hoping for less than 4 losses.  Honestly speaking 4 losses would comfort me more than having 0 losses.  That does not make sense.  Nothing puts steel in the spine like a humbling loss.

I think the stadium in East Lansing is better suited to turf because of its ecological cohabitation with the trash swirling in the air above the field.

1a and 1b here too.  I get more amped for football, however seeing Z do his alpha walk, draining a nail in the coffin 3 (by anyone), watching Matthews fake shoot, Teske swatting things are really exciting this year.  Each sport is/will be fun to watch.  Comparing similar wins tho there is nothing like hoisting the Paul Bunyan trophy even as compared to Moe saluting the Breslin Center in March of this year.  They are close but not the same.

12/06/2018 - 1:38pm Harrison helps our DL stay…

Harrison helps our DL stay at the elite level.  If he goes to the enemy then they are just that much more loaded.  Our OL is fine but not world beaters next year.  Warriner got us to another level but obviously not to the point where we are imposing our will on great DLs.

12/06/2018 - 12:50pm For folks who only consume M…

For folks who only consume M sports through a screen (because we are most likely out of town) the two sports are pretty close in popularity for us mentally.  In fact, for those of us in the DC area we get more good basketball here (B1G tourney in 2017 and I think NCAAs here in 2019 (a 1 seed UM team could start here potentially)).

Nice perspective.

12/06/2018 - 9:56am JH is not really a fan of…

JH is not really a fan of the media right now (if you haven't noticed).  Why give them anything especially when mentally he is focused on shaking talented HS player's hands, putting 62-39 on everyone's helmets and winning a bowl game.

An opponent watch article every week for Men's BB.  I would happily pay for that.

big deal, where are we with Don Brown's 5 year extension?

strong ties to Ohio high school football not tOSU.  Didn't like totally promise his gf she could totally see Woody Hayes like Urbz.  Great. Whatever.  Day gets one shot at The Game before he could be pulled.

it's so difficult to win in their stadium especially given that UM has zero fans or alums in Chicago.

we'll find out November 30, 2019 in Ann Arbor.

12/04/2018 - 8:14am Health/Mountains of Anxiety …

Health/Mountains of Anxiety (ostensibly) played a role.  Maybe the 3 game suspension included an escape hatch for Urbz at the end of the season.  Whatever.  Coach Day really barely missed a beat from Urbz plus he coached one of the best offenses in the country.  True, he had a once a generation talent at QB, however they looked inspired, if nothing else, against TCU.  That was the one challenge for Day (at least from the mile high view of a fan of their archrival).  Right now, we have to prep for a Florida team with a similar offense to what just pounded us.  If Don Brown can change and evolve into a world beater against the spread we saw from IU, OSU and now FLA (which I think we will) then we are in good hands.  After the Peach Bowl Don Brown can start having nightmares about 62-39.

12/03/2018 - 5:15pm I honestly think a win would…

I honestly think a win would mean the most for the players here.  Getting back to winning and learning that hard work is paying off; hoisting.......a peach (?); eating some great Atlanta cooking in the company of your brothers and coaches; knowing the program is going in a direction and 2019 it may all come together even more than this year.  That's got to mean something to young men whose last experience could not have felt worse.

12/03/2018 - 2:44pm I think we need a RB with…

I think we need a RB with some vision.  Higdon was good (great by many measures).........and from all appearances a great captain.  Still, he was not "electric" when he touched the ball.  I am probably nitpicking but with a capable OL and a great RB we could be dangerous.  I just watched OSU and Georgia over the weekend and it seems like we are just a slight talent level (and some coaching adjustments) off from a formidable offense.

Agree.  It felt like at least 40% of the field was untouchable that year.  Also the tackle on LJ Scott on 4th and Goal was a will breaker against MSU.  So many great plays.

11/30/2018 - 9:17am Beat Purdue.

Beat Purdue.

11/29/2018 - 12:46pm Not much of a debate. …

Not much of a debate.  Strack and Maher have more conference championship (I think).  If this teams keeps playing this way a third conference championship is well within reach.  Hopefully he is grooming a protege because he probably has 5 or so more years, right?

11/29/2018 - 9:29am Proud owner of an uncooked…

Proud owner of an uncooked meat, zip up hoodie here saying no, I would not want that.  Frankly, sliding into the 4th spot would annoy me to no end.  "Highlights" of the OSU game would be cycling even more.  I am fine with a 2004 style back door Rose Bowl or a non Florida bowl opponent somewhere near Tampa or Glendale, AZ.  It seems like the brain trust on here is ok with that as well.

11/28/2018 - 5:17pm I think due to our implosion…

I think due to our implosion in 2014 and coach envy of Harbaugh, teams are going to put their *all* into beating us by any means necessary because they believe it can happen.  By that rationale Hallett is right we don't need the challenge since we are getting everyone's A++ effort.  The problem is that ND is not going anywhere and 2020 we get a Pac 12 team (away to start) and Arkansas which might wind up not a pushover.  Even if we are not winning games we at least need to start rising to the competition because it's what our current coach wants.
