We need one! Great ambassador for the program.
February 7th, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
I think we should get three. One for each AA campus. Should throw in a Woodson and Greise one too.
February 8th, 2019 at 12:29 AM ^
Only half a statue for each Super Bowl ring?? Such disrespekt you speak of!
February 8th, 2019 at 9:24 AM ^
A Michigan Football statue hall of fame on campus. That would be freaking awesome! Put it up in an open air park so people can walk through the greats. Holy shit that would be cool
February 7th, 2019 at 10:10 PM ^
Only if there is a Drew Henson statue just behind it that everyone agrees looks like a much better statue.
February 7th, 2019 at 10:26 PM ^
You deserve all of the upvotes. If people aren’t liking this it’s because they have already forgotten an especially unique period of M football.
February 7th, 2019 at 10:40 PM ^
What if they put the Brady statue in front of the Big House January through April. Then the Henson statue for May-August and then put the Brady statue September till December?
February 8th, 2019 at 1:36 AM ^
So Brady September to April. Save your words bruh
February 8th, 2019 at 11:46 AM ^
Methinks you missed the joke...
February 8th, 2019 at 11:48 AM ^
I still think Henson left a Heismann on the table. Anyone remember who won that year?
February 8th, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
2001 was Eric Crotch from Nebraska. Think he played db in NFL....
February 7th, 2019 at 10:59 PM ^
LOL. You know who you are, people.
February 7th, 2019 at 11:01 PM ^
Too soon.
For me, at least.
February 8th, 2019 at 8:47 AM ^
I've been a regular and an irregular at mgoblog for ten years; this is the first time I ever signed to cast an upvote. Maybe once we get the statue up we can beg for a do-over?
February 8th, 2019 at 2:37 PM ^
And another one of Lloyd somewhere nearby with his head up his hind end?
February 8th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
I logged into just to upvote you. . . sadly I was one of those folks who thought the Henson statue looked better
February 8th, 2019 at 6:24 PM ^
This comment made me spend five minutes explaining to my kids why I'm laughing hysterically, fantastic.
February 7th, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
There's something dignified about having so few statues, and none of the living. Harbaugh has many great ideas, but this is a clunker.
February 7th, 2019 at 10:01 PM ^
I would have to disagree. Honoring achievements by influential people have a place in our history and legend. Nothing wrong with it other than the cost of actually making it happen. Somebody has to pay for it and write the check. Find me a donor and I am all for it.
February 7th, 2019 at 10:14 PM ^
Stephen Ross probably?
Wait, he owns the Dolphins and TB12 has been making them his bitch for years
February 8th, 2019 at 7:21 AM ^
Sounds like a job for Al Glick.
I'm all for a statue. I'm also for retiring his jersey.
February 8th, 2019 at 8:17 AM ^
You're right.
We're going to build a statue of Tom Brady and make OSU pay for it...
February 8th, 2019 at 12:30 PM ^
Hey, Mr. Brady, sir. We are wondering if you would be willing to put a statue of you up in front of the stadium. We thought you know, it would be insensitive to not let you run the project and approve of the design and all that.
February 8th, 2019 at 1:10 PM ^
Your argument is logically flawed. Michigan's athletic department already honors Tom Brady's achievements in various ways. They just don't have a statue of him. A public statue is much more weighty because it becomes a permanent fixture of the university. There are usually many good reasons for statues, but ultimately those good reasons are often outweighed by the bad ones. I don't really know very much about Tom Brady's personal life, political contributions, sexual proclivities, vices etc., but once you put up a statue you officially affiliate your institution with that person. If potentially negative material about that person comes to light, it can create a public relations nightmare.
February 8th, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
So, what year did you graduate from Penn State?
February 8th, 2019 at 1:18 PM ^
Ok but this really more for his NFL accomplishments than college, he only played for two years. If you're going for a statue, Woodson who won a NC and heisman as a defender would be more appropriate.
February 8th, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
You can't just have a Brady statute, though. There are so many guys that would need to be honored (a lot from the '97 team alone) I don't know where you draw the line.
February 7th, 2019 at 10:45 PM ^
HE’S WON 6 SUPER BOWLS! That’s all you need to hear
Sorry for yelling but cmon man he’s the billy goat
February 7th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
Robert Horry's got 7 NBA championships....
Just sayin'
February 8th, 2019 at 12:36 AM ^
It's a lot easier to play basketball for 15+ years than it is football. Plus, you know, Brady actually starts for his team. Just sayin'
February 8th, 2019 at 1:19 AM ^
And yet 7>6. Maybe next year Tom.
As an aside, I was going to make a jape about Robert Horry being like 60, but he's 48... the dude is only 7 years older than Brady! I'm still amazed at how TB can be so damn good for so long.
Give that man a statue.
February 8th, 2019 at 8:07 AM ^
I remember listening to an interview with Horry a while back. The reporter asked him if he'd rather have his career (role player with seven rings) or Charles Barkley's career (HOF'er, Top 20-ish player of all-time, no rings).
Horry instantly replied, "Barkley's--no question."
February 8th, 2019 at 8:38 AM ^
A role player, on three different basketball teams vs Tom Brady's 18 years on the same team, as the starting QB, 9 Superbowl appearances, 6 SB trophies and 4 SB MVP trophies
Terrible comparison.
February 8th, 2019 at 9:12 AM ^
That's the joke.
February 8th, 2019 at 6:00 AM ^
And was not an important part for 3 of those.
February 8th, 2019 at 1:17 PM ^
Henri Richard has 11 stanley cups.
February 8th, 2019 at 2:13 PM ^
He and Bill Russell. Tho I would argue that it's harder to win 11 Stanley Cups than 11 NBA championships. Not that it's particularly easy to do either.
February 8th, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
And Brian Hoyer could easily have 6, too. What’s your point?
February 7th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
Maybe one of him and Gisell? But, like, 19 year old Gisell in a bikini. Wait, no, no bikini. And leave Brady out too. So the statue is just young Gisell naked. I like it
February 7th, 2019 at 10:11 PM ^
You’re my favorite dirty MGoBlogger
February 7th, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
She hasn’t changed a bit, what’s wrong with current Giselle?
February 7th, 2019 at 10:41 PM ^
Other than not being naked and 19-nothing.
February 8th, 2019 at 11:12 AM ^
Oh I don't know, I'd force myself to settle for the 24 year old bank robber version we saw in the movie "Taxi."
February 8th, 2019 at 12:04 PM ^
19 year old versions are almost always better, even if older version is still great...
February 7th, 2019 at 10:49 PM ^
Giselle could be playing center!
February 7th, 2019 at 11:35 PM ^
You never fail to come through in a clutch situation.
February 8th, 2019 at 1:41 AM ^
We've already got that--at least, I'm pretty sure the medical center's weird naked statue is Gisell.
February 8th, 2019 at 8:40 AM ^
Whoever the model is for that bronze, I'd hit it.
February 8th, 2019 at 10:35 AM ^
Which part of it? With you I have to ask.
February 7th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
I'm more in favor of honoring players--retired numbers, Heisman winners--with a display inside of Michigan Stadium, rather a statue for one player.
