May I suggest Lifelock. Stops avatar theft.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:43 PM ^
Wasn’t even really on the radar when I thought about good OC choices, but the more I read the more I like!
Did wonders with PSU’s receivers, is supposedly a very good recruiter, has experience at varying levels with Big Time football programs.
POSBANG?
Shore up the new defensive staff openenings, regroup, reload, and hit 2019 running.
Bye Pep?
January 10th, 2019 at 3:45 PM ^
This is a great pickup. Maybe harbaugh has realized the issues. Will he call the plays though?
January 10th, 2019 at 3:45 PM ^
This looks like a potentially great hire!
WRs coach at Penn State and Co-OC at Bama last season.
Anyone have any detailed knowledge on what precisely his responsibilities were at Bama as a “Co-OC”? Also, any word as to what precisely will be his role here at Michigan? Or has that not been announced yet?
January 10th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
Hopefully this works out like we all hope! Excited about this change!
Hopefully when he gets to Michigan he gets more than a big check and a pair of handcuffs.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
I like this on so many levels. Coming from an elite program. Coming from top recruiting class year afte year. WR coach at Bama.... yeah, this is a GRAND SLAM on paper.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
Can’t count out Harbaugh, nice hire
January 10th, 2019 at 3:50 PM ^
Good things do happen! Can't wait for next season. COMMENCE THE HYPE!!
GO BLUE!!
January 10th, 2019 at 3:51 PM ^
Like this hire. Gattis was also passing game coordinator for Penn State 2017.
January 11th, 2019 at 8:12 AM ^
I remember telling my wife last year that I wished Michigan would throw it down the field like Penn State in 2017, well now that's possible!
January 10th, 2019 at 3:51 PM ^
Good shit, bring Jalen with you please.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:51 PM ^
I will withhold my enthusiasm until I hear Harbaugh actually say he is the OC and not just another Co OC like we've had.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:52 PM ^
I guess this is good? Im not too familiar with the guy, but sounds like this board is happy which is a nice tune change.
Nuss is still in my head but seems like Josh has a better track record.
Here's to hopin
January 10th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
I wouldn't say Josh has a better track record than Nuss. Josh has never actually called a game before. At least Nuss operated a very good offense at Washington prior to his brief stint at Michigan.
Let's just hope Josh isn't Nuss.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
It's pretty bush league that there isn't a sticky post of this yet. Really amateur site they are running here.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
Give. Him. The Keys.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
OH HELL YES!
January 10th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
Great first step. I will remain cautiously optimistic about this announcement. There's still a bunch of information that needs to be release. Is Pep gone? Will Harbaugh still be calling the offense by committee? Does Gattis get full reign at OC?
January 10th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
Can everyone please stop with "he never made the play calls before" stuff. Obviously he had a significant role in play calling at Bama. And lets be honest, the play calling here has a lot of room for improvement. This is such great news...
January 10th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
Not disagreeing but what makes you say "obviously" he had a big role in play calling?
January 10th, 2019 at 4:09 PM ^
I know most people don't realize, that most teams, including Alabama, use a calborative approach to play calling. There is one person that disseminates the input from others tied into the play callers headset and makes the next call. It's usually the HC or OC. Obviously, Gatis is part of that collabrative process. Coming from Alabama, I have little concern that he is up to the task. If he was coming from University of Buffalo or Cincinatti, maybe a little concern. But Saban is such a task master, I have litte doubt he will live up to expectations.
January 10th, 2019 at 5:09 PM ^
I hope he wasn't the guy who called that fake field goal in the championship game. lol
Although a lot of the blame should be put on the sideline for not calling timeout and getting out of that play when the defense lined up in a normal formation.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:04 PM ^
You've come from Alabama?
January 10th, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
This is a good hire and very interesting because we lose 2 defensive coaches and announce an offensive coach first...This has to mean that Pep is either out or becoming only QB coach. In which case Jay would move to LBs?
Also glad to bring in a good recruiter. According to 247 hes a top 25 recruiter in the country (although only 5th best on Bama's staff...they recruit themselves).
With regards to "hes never called plays before": hes coming into a situation where the head coach is an offensive guy. So I think he will be fine, its not like he's being thrown to the wolves with no support. Hiring the young (inexperienced), offensive mind is the new hotness and I'd rather see Michigan get in on that craze in order to infuse new ideas into the offense, as opposed to hiring a 55 year old NFL guy.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
Well, we need an SEC guy to recruit big lineman types in the Southland. So, if he can do that, get those big uglies to come up north and not get intimidated by a few cold Saturdays in the fall, then maybe Gattis will work out.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
I think he only spent a year in the south. Has more experience at Penn State and went to school at wake
January 10th, 2019 at 4:42 PM ^
He also coached at Vanderbilt under Franklin
January 10th, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
It's a Revolution! or not.
I'm willing to try out any reputable new blood at this point.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
Hoping that OC title sticks. The program needs a stand alone voice.
Not a big name out there...but like the background. Change needed, change delivered.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
So, here's my question: when does Ryan Day consider poaching Gattis, and does this mean that we are paying him more than Mattison got to go to Ohio State? Intrigued minds are intrigued by the potential intrigue at work here, especially in light of the possibility that the Buckeyes would steal Bama's backup qb to go along with the other backup guy that played for the other former nc title team last year.
Feldman saying this is a big move for Harbaugh, and yet Harbaugh has actually gone to the Super Bowl and makes staff changes every year even if most here think otherwise. So, really, how big could this really be, especially when we have no clue if he will be coordinating and not actually play-calling which is apparently the crux of our late-season offensive issues, according to most.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:59 PM ^
Decent hire, he's been really good as a WRs coach. Sounds like Saban picked Dan Enos over him and he took a hike. Never called plays before, so Harbaugh will continue to be the decision maker on play calls.
Not a big flashy hire at all, but could be solid.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
Enos is a more proven commodity having been an HC and OC. It’s a bit of a risk, but a worthy risk IMO.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:59 PM ^
Sounds like a positive development, at least from a recruiting standpoint. As for the OC stuff, I'm gonna wait and see.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
I'm glad for DPJ / Black / Nico more than anyone else. Hopefully they put up great numbers next year.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
I think all 3 WRs will have to play 2 more years to get the full benefit of Gattis’ coaching.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^
That's good, I guess? Not shaking up the offensive staff would have been unacceptable.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
Pep Hamilton to the Detroit Lions???
January 10th, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
Wow! Harbaugh is giving up the keys to the offense: https://twitter.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/status/1083473678099050496?s=20
January 10th, 2019 at 5:11 PM ^
I’ll believe it when I see it but this is great news on the surface.
January 10th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
Hiring a new OC? Good news. Letting him call plays??? Biggest news for this team since they hired Harbaugh!
January 10th, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
I have to give to Harbaugh on this one. Good fucking hire.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
I'm excited about this hire. He's a coach who has a proven ability to get a lot out of talented WR's which we have for next year. I would be really excited if I were DPJ, Nico, Tarik Black or any of the WR on the team.
While posters on this thread and others raise legitimate questions of whether Gattis will have full reigns of the offense, I'm excited that Harbaugh is being proactive in strengthening our coaching staff.
Now let's see what happens with the DL and LB coaches that we need to replace.

Josh Gattis is expected to call plays at #Michigan as Wolverines new OC. https://t.co/cHmEkhuHPT

Who would have dreamed, this board would be so excited to pull a coach from the James Franklin tree.
Should I email coach and suggest he look at Sean Spencer (psu's dline coach) worked with Don Brown at UMass. He still hasn't replied to my email asking why he doesn't go after Chad Wilt from Army.

Have you tried texting him? Usually responds faster
