Agree, Poole was fouled, he wasn’t shooting.  He was trying to get a continuation call and get gifted some FTs by the refs.  What he should have done was wait for a whistle before throwing it up.  No doubt it was a foul but this is just another bad decision by Poole.  This was completely different than his foul on McQuaid. He bit on a pump fake big time(again), jumped 3 feet in the air and got exploited.  This is called and given 3 shots everytime, even if it shouldn’t be.  Put Poole in the game if you need a Hail Mary or buzzer beater.  He seems to be very disinterested unless he sees the opportunity for a big play. As others have said,  Livers has done more than enough to eat up all of Poole’s minutes.

03/11/2019 - 4:48pm I dunno, I agree you want…

I dunno, I agree you want your best players at the end of the game but Iggy was on fire, playing confidently at that point.  You leave him in and risk the fouls and maybe he doubles his point total and gives us a huge boost.  Putting him back in late when there is no momentum and he has been cooling off on the bench for awhile does not help us in this situation.  Hindsight 20/20 of course.

02/24/2019 - 7:14am 2?!  No Ward, Ahrens not a…

2?!  No Ward, Ahrens not a huge threat but they need him now more than ever and he is limited with ongoing back issues.  They will go to the break down by 8, make a mini run in the second half, then UM pulls away and wins by 18.  Sparty doesn’t have the minutes or fouls to give.  They’ll be as dangerous as a wounded animal in EL, but this game will be a blowout.

01/11/2019 - 4:34pm Looks like our recruiting…

Looks like our recruiting pipelines for Alabama offensive coaches and Boston College defensive coaches is still intact.

01/10/2019 - 4:46pm College football coaching is…

College football coaching is so odd.  A guy can play football thru college, basically retire from football after an NFL minute, go to 3 different schools coaching a position he never played, then wind up being paid millions to be offensive coordinator at Michigan....at 34 years old.

Kingsbury gets fired from TT and months  later is a head coach in the NFL.  None of it makes any sense.  Sports make no sense.

That being said, please make our offense better!

01/10/2019 - 3:46pm Hopefully this works out…

Hopefully this works out like we all hope! Excited about this change!

Hopefully when he gets to Michigan he gets more than a big check and a pair of handcuffs.

01/10/2019 - 11:29am Fine I’ll say it!  He went…

Fine I’ll say it!  He went to Standford because he couldn’t handle the rigorous academic standards here.

this is everyone’s favorite delusional excuse for our talent gap right?

Oh and Stanford has better bag men than us.  I almost forgot that one.

01/09/2019 - 1:12pm Can we just break free of…

Can we just break free of the incestual hires?  Is it really too much to ask to find a person that doesn’t have ties to Hoke or any other Michigan coach? He may be a great coach and a great hire if it happens, but let’s not be afraid to broaden our horizons.

maybe he’ll sign with us then follow Mattison to OSU.  I kid, I kid......kinda.

01/08/2019 - 1:13pm Yeah because they were so…

Yeah because they were so unprepared for our offensive scheme this year.

we need a completely new playbook regardless of who we are playing.

01/08/2019 - 1:03pm Lol, this is just comical. …

Lol, this is just comical.  Despite their ties, a Michigan coach ditching Harbaugh and headed to the most hated rival, is a huge slap in the face.  Make no mistake, there is smoke coming from Fort Schembechler today.

thank all that is holy for the early signing period or we could’ve been in a Miami situation.

01/08/2019 - 10:22am Oh hell no.  Hoke is a…

Oh hell no.  Hoke is a dinosaur, just like Mattison, and apparently *cough* Harbaugh.  The last we need is yet another coach with no creativity or ability to change schemes.  In Hokes mind, BIG always beats FAST.  No thanks.

Unless Ann Arbor Pioneer needs a football coach, then ok.

01/07/2019 - 3:00pm Not real disappointed that…

Not real disappointed that Mattison is leaving.  Seems like he was past his time and other than Winovich, a lot of talented guys recently underachieved.  That being said, holy crap what a kick in the balls to Michigan and Harbaugh.  I can’t imagine this went down cordially.

01/02/2019 - 5:28pm College football just called…

College football just called, they said they looked in the mirror and saw $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.  Until we all stop buying Buick’s, expect zero change.

01/02/2019 - 1:46pm You’re right Chase, you don…

You’re right Chase, you don’t make “millions of dollars” to solve this teams problems, nor do you owe us or the press anything.  That being said, thanks for answering all of those questions, especially when the man who gets paid “millions of dollars” refuses to.

Chase really seems like a genuinely nice young man.  I have no doubt he will be successful professionally, in whatever avenue he chooses.

01/01/2019 - 3:24pm Ok, I get this.  I guess I…

Ok, I get this.  I guess I don’t understand why you need to hire a guy to run the offense and pay him $2 million while our $7 million coach is sitting in the corner.  Is this how other programs work? Are the head coaches really that hands off on gameday play calling and schemes? More of a CEO mentality?  No sarcasm here, I’m really curious.

01/01/2019 - 11:55am We had shark humper at WR…

We had shark humper at WR coach, I’m not so sure Kiffin should be off the table.

01/01/2019 - 11:18am I agree with you, but tell…

I agree with you, but tell me why going out and hiring someone else to do Harbaughs job is an acceptable answer to our problem.   I get what you are saying, but what should our head coach be doing on the sideline during a game if he’s not calling plays, not calling defensive schemes, and our qb’s aren’t throwing the ball?  Managing the clock?  Maybe we should hire someone for that too.

01/01/2019 - 10:51am Sorry, we went into the OSU…

Sorry, we went into the OSU game pretty damn healthy.  JBB probably our biggest loss, sure winovich was injured but he still played well, we lost Bush mid game.  It’s the last game of the season, injury bug always strikes eventually. OSU was without Bosa, maybe their best defensive player.  At this point anything bad or good that happens is because of harbaugh.  That’s the role and responsibility of the head coach.  No more excuses.

01/01/2019 - 10:35am Seriously?  So your excuse…

Seriously?  So your excuse to Harbaugh putting an unprepared and unmotivated team on the field against OSU and Florida is that we are in a tough conference?  His team got massacred, it’s not just about wins and losses, it’s about how the game goes down, how you prepare your team.  It’s not about getting into the CFP, it’s about winning games against your rivals.  You win the games and CFP will take care of itself.  Yeah let’s get into an easy conference and avoid all tough games so we can make the CFP, that makes sense.  Poor us having to play OSU every year.  I really don’t even mind the losses, but the product he has put on the field the last two weeks is downright worrisome.

enough with the recruiting excuses, enough of the “needs OC calling plays” excuses.  Listen I’m willing to give Harbaugh more time, but if you need a DC to manage the whole defensive side of the ball, apparently need an OC to call plays and put points on the board, what exactly are you doing as the head coach?  A high paid delegator?  If a head coach is only as good as his position coaches and coordinators he puts around him, then he’s probably not a very good coach.  I hope he works out, because this program can’t handle another coaching change.

12/31/2018 - 12:08pm “We didn’t get the run game…

“We didn’t get the run game going effectively enough.”

Translation: “MOAR man ball!  We must run ball harder up middle!”

John Harbaugh is kind of on the hot seat, maybe we can swap harbaughs with the ravens?

12/30/2018 - 5:06pm +1 for you.

but -1 for…

+1 for you.

but -1 for the visual of Charlie Weis using “angle and force”.

12/30/2018 - 5:04pm If you are having to take…

If you are having to take timeouts to avoid delay of game penalties after a change of possession, you’ve already failed.

12/30/2018 - 11:57am I just realized Jim Harbaugh…

I just realized Jim Harbaugh is the football equivalent of Tom Izzo. He recruits well but forces players into a antiquated man ball system. Doesn’t adequately use their skills, subsequently doesn’t allow them to reach their full potential. So they either transfer out or become a role player.  Gains a lot of hype over the regular season but lays an egg in in the post season.  Basically a tenured coach because of his stature within the university.

12/30/2018 - 11:20am Hey Jim, you’re not “right…

Hey Jim, you’re not “right there at the top”.  Your two best wins came against an injured Mcsorley PSU team and squeaked by NW. I’ll even give you a pass against ND. The only other two teams on your schedule with a pulse beat you by a combined 49 pts.  When you lose because of one play, or a lucky break, you can make the statement that you have to get “over the top”.  When your team gets annihilated in games you are favored to win, you have a problem with your program.

12/29/2018 - 11:43pm I used to wish we had “this”…

I used to wish we had “this” player or “that” player.....now I see a guy like Kyler Murray and know if he played for us he’d be a watered down neutered version of his current self.   Good thing he would’ve had the MLB at least!

12/29/2018 - 11:11pm Still...RR versus whomever…

Still...RR versus whomever is calling our offensive plays?  RR couldn’t do any worse.  I don’t think “run up middle again for 2 yards, then bang head on wall” was in his play book at least.  Well.....we know he wouldn’t be banging the wall.

12/29/2018 - 10:07pm Actually, not playing…

Actually, not playing football is a perfectly acceptable alternative.  You have to be three years removed from high school to be eligible for the draft.  You can literally do anything for 3 years.

12/29/2018 - 8:46pm How long did it take Dabo? …

How long did it take Dabo?  What year is Harbaugh in?

12/29/2018 - 8:43pm Agree that the real ball…

Agree that the real ball drop happened with Carr, but disagree about hiring Dantonio.  Everyone knew Carr was retiring, the fact that he and the AD fumbled that coaching transition so incredibly has screwed us for a decade.

Btw I’m watching the Orange bowl and Laura Rutledge is wearing the new Jordan’s.  Pretty sweet.

12/29/2018 - 8:18pm NFL coaches throw the damn…

NFL coaches throw the damn ball...A LOT!

12/29/2018 - 4:44pm I’m right there with you. …

I’m right there with you.  Sadly I was also in that place a year ago, then the hype started and I began to believe again...then OSU, and it crushed my spirit.

12/29/2018 - 4:40pm I believe we had ZERO sacks…

I believe we had ZERO sacks against Rutgers and I don’t remember how many against Indiana, but not many.  Our D line was statistically better without Gary.  I wish him all the best and hope he lights up the NFL but his absence today has nothing to do with this performance.  Solomon missing in the middle was way more of hit to this line.

12/29/2018 - 4:23pm I posted this after the ND…

I posted this after the ND game.  I think something changed for him in his personal life.  The fire is gone.  I’m not saying he isn’t a good coach or anything like that, it just seems that we have a different person on the sideline than we did 2 years ago.

12/29/2018 - 3:47pm This is just coaching, that…

This is just coaching, that’s the only excuse we have left.  Competent coaching would be able to take our roster and churn out a disciplined team that doesn’t make unforced errors.  That’s what good coaches do.  They may not be able to overcome roster deficiencies completely, but a well coached team should be competitive in these games.  We simply aren’t.

12/29/2018 - 3:13pm It’s like I’ve seen this…

It’s like I’ve seen this game already.....where did I watch a performance like this?  It doesn’t seem like long ago but I just can’t place it.

12/29/2018 - 3:07pm Being a strength and…

Being a strength and conditioning coach for a team that runs up the middle for 2 years on every play has got to be a sweet gig.

12/28/2018 - 6:30pm I mean I agree with Mullen…

I mean I agree with Mullen that we all wanted the playoffs, now they are here and it has made every other bowl game pretty much meaningless(unless you are a school where making any bowl is the reward at the end of a season).  The problem with his statement is that the meaninglessness of all bowl games due to the playoffs is already here....so we might as well expand the playoff which would actually reverse this issue and make MORE bowl games meaningful, not the opposite.

12/28/2018 - 5:13pm Couldn’t agree more.  …

Couldn’t agree more.  “Intelligence” has nothing to do with where talented players go to school.  Let’s not kid ourselves into thinking we are passing up 4 or 5 star athletes because they didn’t score high enough on their ACTs or that we are holding athletes to the same academic enrollment standards as regular students.  I mean the whole idea of purely athletic scholarships undermines the academic argument.

we aren’t Harvard, let’s not pretend like we are at some huge disadvantage because of our academic standards for the average Joe.

12/28/2018 - 4:20pm “How many of Auburn's…

“How many of Auburn's players would actually be able to enroll at Purdue?”

what are you implying?

12/28/2018 - 4:10pm I’ve always liked Gus…

I’ve always liked Gus Malzahn and the product he puts on the field.  We should’ve made a harder run at him like a decade ago when we were on the coaching search.  It’s probably a good thing for him that he didn’t come here though.  The Bo man-ball culture would have rejected him.

12/22/2018 - 10:06pm Bravo to everyone, the…

Bravo to everyone, the responses are probably the best I’ve read on any topic in awhile.

Agree that this is definitely an honorary position.  OSU admin knows he’s invaluable as a recruiter so they are desperate to keep him on staff if only to be able to say he’s still involved.

The guy is a creep and felt the heat.  When things aren’t going perfect for him he generates an escape plan. Who would publicly question a persons health? It’s actually quite a brilliant “out” plan.

12/22/2018 - 1:09pm This is great news, but…

Mods please delete.

I thought the above poster was writing in regards to the new QB commit.  I’m an idiot, my apologies.  Look forward to greatness from Shea in 2019!

12/18/2018 - 11:51pm I’m just glad we found the…

I’m just glad we found the one OSU fan that DOESN’T like Harbaugh.

12/17/2018 - 4:54pm I certainly won’t be…

I certainly won’t be downplaying the impact of the OSU loss but where are these reports of “disenchantment from current players”?  And sure Solomon he was a CLEAR starter but his stardom was not guaranteed.  He spent a lot of time injured and when he did play was underwhelming.  This definitely sucks, but let’s not try to make it seem worse than it actually is.  Oh and Hill chose to play for a dynasty program for an excellent coach, it’s not like he ditched us for MSU.

12/17/2018 - 11:59am Yeah, nothing to see here…

Yeah, nothing to see here....unfortunately.  Maybe we decide to make a run at Hellams?  Obviously a long shot but he won’t have much competition coming here.

12/17/2018 - 11:17am I don’t know when that…

I don’t know when that picture was taken but he looks plenty big to contribute next fall especially since he has another 8 months to get big.  Doesn’t look at all like weight is a problem for him.

12/15/2018 - 6:14pm No kidding.

we are all…

No kidding.

we are all assuming that was the reason but obviously there could have been other factors at play.  Let’s hope this kid has enough knowledgeable people in his corner that can explain why it’s in his best interest NOT to play OT as a true freshman.

I can’t imagine any recruit looks at our Oline issues over the last couple of years and has any concerns about getting their chance to play.

12/13/2018 - 11:19am Does anyone know if…

Does anyone know if oversigning is still an issue?  Seems like I can recall a story from a few years back that this was happening pretty routinely at Alabama.  Has anyone heard if this is still occurring to the same degree?

12/13/2018 - 11:01am No doubt that being able to…

No doubt that being able to say you worked and learned from the Best, buys you a few good years of inflated recruiting, then obviously you have to produce.  The success Meyers coaching tree has had really impresses me too though.

12/13/2018 - 2:53am It depends how good your…

It depends how good your team is.  If you are Alabama, you play how you always play and dare everyone to stop you.  If you’re MSU, you gameplan for each team and throw in fake field goals and other crap in an attempt to even the odds.

I mean that’s what OSU did, they came into the game really not caring what we were going to do and just decided they were going to execute their game to perfection.  That’s what good teams do.  Of course stopping repeated runs up the middle doesn’t take much preparation but I digress...
