where’s lewerke?
November 13th, 2018 at 11:00 PM ^
Lewerking it somewhere in EL.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:14 AM ^
Lewerking in the weeds?
November 14th, 2018 at 7:30 AM ^
Dude it’s not EL, it’s East Landfill...so much Disrespek
November 13th, 2018 at 11:26 PM ^
staee's qb play of late has been quite rocky .
November 14th, 2018 at 6:29 AM ^
Once he gets his Dothraki army together, Rocky Targaryen be unstoppable.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:37 AM ^
Jokes aside, D’Agostino’s failure to develop any decent QB play since Connor Cook is pretty remarkable. Injuries have something to do with that, but it’s not like Lewerke was NFL QB material last year either.
At some point, that has to impact recruiting at the position and at other skill positions on the offense. Even with a lights-out defense, the best recruits are going to want to play for a winner.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:02 AM ^
The Spartans that I talk to on a regular basis essentially want nothing to do anymore with the current offensive staff, pointing out things like you mentioned - not even decent QB play since Cook, getting progressively worse over the last 3-4 years in most statistical measures, and lack of development at QB and other positions.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:11 AM ^
Maybe what MSU needs is a QB with a hot sister like Connor Cook's. That'll give the folks on RCMB something to talk about for a while. They still won't win many games, but it'll keep the natives at bay until Mork retires.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:55 AM ^
You talk to Spartans on a regular basis? I feel for you. :(
November 14th, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
Lewerke and the entire MSU offensive side of the ball is a god awful joke. I think Mork should be shown the door in the off season,
November 13th, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
Sure would like Michigan to get a shot at Alabama. I think it would be a great game.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
I know we're in a position to possibly win it all, but is it wrong to only want revenge on nd? Missing them in the playoffs would leave a feeling of incompleteness to the season.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
Why not both? M and ND win in the semis and play in the title game?
November 13th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
I guess I don't expect nd to make it past clemson or bama.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:48 PM ^
We certainly beat Clemson.
I think Alabama's running game would wear us down though.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:06 AM ^
That defensive line scares the bejeesus out of me.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:01 AM ^
IDK how their line compares to ours but our offense routinely goes against the number 1/2 defense every week in practice and obviously they are doing well enough to make some stuff work or they wouldn't have it practiced enough to do it well in game.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:27 PM ^
That would be the start and end of the 2019 Revenge Tour!!!
November 14th, 2018 at 12:43 PM ^
Yep, though I hope we pummel Iowa for that 2016 bullshit. Then track down South Carolina and Florida State ...
(I've certainly acquired a taste for revenge.)
November 13th, 2018 at 11:43 PM ^
Be careful what you wish for. (I know this from experience.)
November 14th, 2018 at 12:12 PM ^
My buddy is an Ole Miss grad and says Shea wouldn't start at Ole Miss (because he sucks). Says the SEC defenses would tear him apart (like they did when he was a freshman!!).
The ESPN fancy stats must be wrong!
I would love to see him tear into Alabama (right after taking apart Clemson). Glad that we landed him after the Ole Miss implosion.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
Ok cool. Hook 'em. ?
November 13th, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
Shea, you're only #3. You need to stay one more year.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:02 PM ^
Whatever formula they use for adjusting QBR presumably thinks a lot of the Penn State and MSU defenses since Shea and Haskins make the biggest jumps between raw and total QBR.
November 14th, 2018 at 12:03 AM ^
Naw it's probably the Rutgers defense adjustment
November 14th, 2018 at 5:02 AM ^
Without the Rutgers adjustment Shea would probably be over 100.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:03 PM ^
I'll admit it. I don't understand these rows of stats at all but it's good to be third.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:00 AM ^
Yeah, I’m trying to figure out what the Environmental Protection Agency has to do with QB play.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
Significant drop-off from 1 and 2 to the rest. Shea is what we thought his was and that is a hell of a quarterback
November 13th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
I would say that Kyler Murray, or whoever's the Oklahoma qb is helped tremendously by their system. If anything you could argue that Shea is somewhat being helped back by Harbaugh's system. Imagine for only a second Shea at Oklahoma.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
That and Big12 defenses.
November 14th, 2018 at 12:08 AM ^
The ND and Nebraska games really hurt his QBR. Unfortunately it took the OL four games before they became totally Warinnerized, with the Nebraska game being the last time Patterson was held to negative rushing yards.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:19 AM ^
Right. Handing off to Higdon isn't exactly showtime for a quarterback.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:37 AM ^
Exactly. Murray is in an offensive system where it's pass pass pass pass pass. On top of that, nobody in the Big 12 has any concept of what a defense is actually supposed to do. Pretty easy to rack up passing stats in that kind of environment.
November 14th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
Oklahoma passes on 43% of their plays. They rank 89th in the country in passing play percentage. They've had 271 pass attempts and 377 rushing attempts this season.
November 14th, 2018 at 1:13 PM ^
Aww snap
November 13th, 2018 at 11:51 PM ^
Brock Purdy #4! Been pimping ISU here lately...Iowa resident and it's fun to see them with success. Matt Campbell seems a legit coach. As much as I hope he stays and they pay him all they can...if Gene Chizik can go there for 2 seasons and win like, 6 games and go get Cam Newton, Campbell should take over for the freakin' Raiders.
November 13th, 2018 at 11:56 PM ^
A few months ago I used to get texts from sparty buddies with all these references to “ the sheavior “.
Haven’t seen the word since !
November 14th, 2018 at 5:55 AM ^
I haven't seen "Shea O'Korn" after Wisconsin was throttled. Meanwhile Lewerke has been in free fall.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:47 AM ^
I got “Sugar Shea?” after the ND game. I texted him the same thing back after the Sparty game. He said “no.”
November 13th, 2018 at 11:59 PM ^
how is Shea's raw QBR so much lower by comparison?
November 14th, 2018 at 12:11 AM ^
QBR is not adjusted for the opponent with Total QBR being adjusted for the opponents. You will note that Patterson has one of the largest gains from QBR to Adj QBR while others stay relatively similar and some even have Adj QBRs lower than their Raw QBR.
November 14th, 2018 at 12:18 AM ^
Definitely too short to be that good. Needs another year to grow.
November 14th, 2018 at 12:27 AM ^
Shea probably has not reached his potential. He will probably be the difference maker against OSU, NU and possibly Alabama.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:21 AM ^
We got us a 5 star QB, baby!
November 14th, 2018 at 2:05 AM ^
He's been good
November 14th, 2018 at 3:26 AM ^
Last year, even our historically good defense could not carry our inept offense, to the tune of 5 losses.
We were right when we said that with even average QB and OL play we would have won all the games we lost, with the possible exception of Penn State.
Now with really good QB and OL play coupled with our defense, the sky is the limit.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:03 AM ^
Last year Brandon Peters was the 19th best QB in the Conference (not nation), Speight was 25th, and O'Korn didn't register. QB is the single most important position.
If we had a QB in the top 10 of the conference for 2017 - we simply beat MSU and OSU...and have a legit shot at Wisconsin. Then the narrative is that we had another 10 win season (maybe better if we beat Wisconsin) and we need to get over the hump of just 10 wins a season.
