Beat Penn State. No idea what to make of this team. By the advanced stats, they are solidly a top 10 team but they haven't looked like a complete team for the last 3 weeks.

You have not been paying attention to Chase's repeated comments.  This is Michigan's Revenge Tour and Penn State is ABSOLUTELY front and center on their list.

It is very good thing the Chase has added a Slogan Tag Line (#RevengeTour2018) for this season.  It focuses the team on their mission and helps prepare them for this game.

If there is any game that someone should even remotely worry about is @Indiana (although I expect a dull workmanship game where they grind them into dust).

This team will be ready this Saturday.  Don Brown will be able to sleep after this game (then again maybe not cause he knows there is 1 more stop on the Revenge Tour).

Was he trying to remember the words to Michigan My Michigan - the unofficial song of the State of Michigan? Let me help him:

Michigan, My Michigan

Home of my heart, I sing of thee! Michigan, My Michigan,
Thy lake-bound shores I long to see,
Michigan, my Michigan.
From Saginaw's tall whispering pines
To Lake Superior's farthest mines,
Fair in the light of memory shines
Michigan, my Michigan.

Thou gav'st thy sons without a sigh,
Michigan, my Michigan,
And sent thy bravest forth to die,
Michigan, my Michigan.
Beneath a hostile southern sky
They bore thy banner proud and high,
Ready to fight but never fly,
Michigan, my Michigan.

From Yorktown on to Richmond's wall,
Michigan, my Michigan,
They bravely fight, as bravely fall,
Michigan, my Michigan.

Their strong arms crumble in the dust,
And their bright swords all have gathered rust;
Their memory is our sacred trust,"
Michigan, my Michigan.

And when the happy time shall come,
Michigan, my Michigan,
That brings thy war-worn heroes home,
Michigan, my Michigan,
What welcome from their own proud shore,
What honors at their feet we'll pour,
What tears for those who'll come no more,
Michigan, my Michigan.

A grateful country claims them now,
Michigan, my Michigan,
And deathless laurel binds each brow,
Michigan, my Michigan;
And history the tale will tell,
Of how they fought and how they fell,
For that dear land they loved so well,
Michigan, my Michigan.

This is going to be a tough one next week I hope Michigan is ready to lock down Mcsorley. I have faith Don Brown is most certainly not f*cking around this week.

I am expected UM to come out a bit flat though. Glad this game is at home.

You're not looking hard enough for reasons to be insulted here!  Consider:

He typed out Michigan 21 times.  Plus, he typed "Michigam" once.

He typed out each of Indiana and Iowa 30 times.

He typed out Michigan State 29 times but abbreviated it as "Mich St" instead of typing out the full name of the school (MASSIVE disrespekt!!!!!)

He typed out Ohio St 16 times

PSU loses any time Franklin is lazy and types the name of the opponent 21 or less times, or disrespekts the opponent.

He clearly doesn’t know how to copy/paste since one is spelled with an m at the end. How do you write the same thing that many times without using control c/v

PSU is probably going to be ranked ~13th. 12th if somebody feels Texas should drop to 13th or if the committee forgets to give kentucky the free SEC pass and bumps it back to 13 or 14 where it belongs,  with OSU back up to 10 or even 9. It would theoretically be plausible for the committee to slot PSU at the 10th, but it probably goes to WV. It will be a weird week to start the committees rankings since 5 of the likely top 10 didn't play this weekend, and five had convincing wins (if you count WV).

Last night was a bloodbath; the entire bottom half of the top 25 lost last night with the exception of Utah (23), PSU(17), and well who knows what SEC call to allow Kentucky(14) its last second win against... Missouri. That's 9 teams probably no longer ranked, or close to it. (Iowa probably still ranked). Plenty of new blood in the top 25 I'm sure.

Upvoted.

Since we're talking about rivalries, I've been interested in Penn State's "UNRIVALED" branding campaign.  Uhhh, yeah.  We don't want Penn State as a "rival."  We have great, historical ties to our rivals.  Personally, I always have a hard time thinking of Penn State as a Big Ten Conference member.  It's been a good football program, to be certain.  But to me Penn State is more Rutgers than Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern or Iowa.  And nowhere near Ohio State, Notre Dame or Little Brother.

"Unrivaled"?  Not our rivals as far as I am concerned.

There's some concern about PSU, and there probably should be.  Their offense is capable of hitting big plays, even against Don Brown's defense.  And they will get a few of them.  But if they aren't plays that go into the end zone, or, at least, only one or two of them go in, they won't be able to keep up.  That offense, IMO, is not capable of grinding out yards and controlling the clock.  Whether they get a few big play TDs, or not, isn't going to matter if they can't keep Michigan's defense on the field.

I'm not at all impressed with their defense, and don't see, in any way, how they'll be able to stop the Harbaughffense.  Iowa had open receivers all day with a crap QB that can't run, and the RB went for ~5ypc against them.  We all know M averages ~34 minutes ToP, and I'm saying it'll be closer to 40 minutes in this game - just like last week against MSU.  I just don't see that defense getting M off the field.

So, combine that - a quick strike offense that doesn't grind yards or control for ToP, with a middling defense that doesn't hang its hat on any particularly good aspect - against a home team dominates the LoS, ToP, and has playmaking athletes in places where Iowa doesn't even look.

For the life of me, I just can't see PSU staying in this game beyond the midway part of the 3rd quarter...
