I agree with you that 51 isn't elite for the quarter, but IMO sub-50 is and it's a good bet he gets there.  I think he's a soph in this video, right?  If he's class of 2020, 2018 would be his soph year.  Point still stands.

07/16/2018 - 12:28pm Ive been using YouTube TV…

Ive been using YouTube TV for about a year (so including last year's football/basketball season) and it's great.  The quality is awesome and it includes BTN which is key.  I had an issue during the NCAA tourney because it doesn't have any of the Turner channels (TNT, TBS, etc) but other than that, no complaints.  Also, the DVR part is awesome, you can record from anywhere, watch on any device, and the DVR is unlimited.  I record every single M bball and football game.

07/15/2018 - 2:58pm As a former track guy, I…

As a former track guy, I would say that the 400m alone doesn't "translate" all that well by itself, but that's a real tough race, especially for a guy as big as he is.  It tells me he's not only really fast, but has some mental toughness and likely a decent amount of endurance as well, which will allow him to put in lots of high quality reps every practice.  But really - it just shows he's a hell of an athlete.  That's what we want.

Endurance is important for WR who have to run route after route after route at practice, which becomes a sort of wind sprint drill all day.  He also might be a guy the QBs turn to to put in extra work because they know he can go all day without needed a break.

07/13/2018 - 10:53pm It's Michael Scott and…

It's Michael Scott and everyone else, IMO.  He is the perfect TV character.

07/13/2018 - 6:18pm Oh, hockey.

Oh, hockey.

07/13/2018 - 6:15pm Wait - you think a guy who…

Wait - you think a guy who barely played his freshman year will leave early for the draft?  Or are you suggesting he won't be awarded one?  Both seem like a weird assumption at this point.

07/01/2018 - 8:00pm Shea has athleticism for a…

Shea has athleticism for a QB no doubt, but it's a different level of athleticism needed to be an elite skill position player, even a TE (especially one who isn't 6'5"+, though he may get there in a few years).

07/01/2018 - 2:25pm Damn, GRIII has done a lot…

Damn, GRIII has done a lot better financially than I expected when he declared for the draft (and once he was drafted).  Good for him, he's made some solid bank in the league.

06/30/2018 - 9:01pm Exactly.  We've had guys get…

Exactly.  We've had guys get DUIs and not get much in terms of punishment so it's a little hypocritical to expect Urban to do something extreme, especially with a freshman.  This kid was likely to contribute a ton early, so even if he got something huge like half the season that wouldn't affect much.

I think Urb's comments about Pitino had more to do with recruiting and institutional rule breaking and cover ups, not players get into somewhat routine trouble.  I'm not saying DUIs are good by any means, but I tend to be more lenient toward offenses that show lack of judgment as opposed to showing that the kid is a really bad dude.

06/30/2018 - 3:03pm I agree with you that this…

I agree with you that this guy's offer list looks more like a 4 star.  Keep in mind the recruiting sites always lag the offer list because the coaches are evaluating these kids sooner in most cases than the sites are.  The teams have more resources (money, personnel and relationships) and expertise in scouting players than the recruiting sites do, and the sites only re-rank so often so there is always a lag.  It wouldn't surprise if this kid is ranked higher down the road.

06/30/2018 - 2:59pm Kids get cut from every…

Kids get cut from every sport.  Can't take everyone.  This happens every year, not sure why it's surprising.

04/09/2018 - 4:17pm No way sea turtles are the

No way sea turtles are the greatest animals on the planet.

I dislocated my shoulder body surfing in Wailea.  I'm more of a Ka'anapali guy anyway.

04/09/2018 - 4:15pm Although you're somewhat

Although you're somewhat right (it doesn't get that HOT by the beach) the high today in SD is actually 80 and sunny, and it's early April.  You're right that it's not 85-90 that often there, but isn't that good?  When I lived in Hermosa Beach (similar climate to SD) my place didn't have a heater or A/C and that was a problem maybe half a dozen days out of the year.  If you're doing anything remotely active outside anyway, you don't want it much above 75 when you're in the sun.

I live in LA and my answer would be San Diego too, unless of course Hawaii is on the table and the distance was feasible.

04/03/2018 - 11:13am I know they lost in the first

I know they lost in the first round and everything but if next year we win the conference and the conference tourney and are a 1 seed that’s probably a good season.

04/03/2018 - 11:12am That’s be sick good for sure.

That’s be sick good for sure.

04/03/2018 - 10:41am My guess is Iggy takes over

My guess is Iggy takes over the Duncan role. He’ll come off the bench for Livers, but maybe get fewer minutes than Duncan, at least to start. He also might spell Matthews at the 3 to get more minutes.

04/02/2018 - 8:00pm He’s a better college player

He’s a better college player than pro prospect and wasn’t even 1st Team All Big Ten. So that’s not a top 10 NBA draft pick.

04/02/2018 - 11:19am Ohio State would still be a

Ohio State would still be a very meaningful win.

04/02/2018 - 11:17am You got it backwards. Michael

You got it backwards. Michael Scott is quoting Wayne Gretzky, not the other way around.

04/02/2018 - 10:40am Exactly what I was gonna say.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Not sure if that was intentional or not but it makes it doubly good.

03/29/2018 - 4:49pm Seriously. This is like if

Seriously. This is like if someone came to me and said instead of paying me 10k cash they’ll offer me personal training classes worth 15k. That’s fine if I want a personal trainer, but if I don’t then that isn’t a good value to me.

03/29/2018 - 9:42am Forgotten?  It was the

Forgotten?  It was the setting for the TV show Glee.  I'm sure that brought more attention than a point guard in the Final Four.  But it's still cool, no doubt.

03/26/2018 - 10:16am I think if Michigan beats

I think if Michigan beats both OSU and PSU we’d get in. The Big Ten is a strong conference and being 4th in that league should do it. But I agree going 3-2 would lock it in.

03/26/2018 - 10:15am Ohio State has built a very

Ohio State has built a very good program in a state that actually plays pretty good HS lacrosse so it will be hard to pass them but it’s definitely possible. No reason the Big Ten can’t be a total powerhouse conference like the ACC with the big names and funding our schools have.

03/26/2018 - 10:07am I don’t think the Big 12

I don’t think the Big 12 should be held against Kansas. First off, it’s not a bad conference most years (most elite 8 teams from any conference this year and was pretty deep) and if anything they should get extra credit for pulling players to the middle of nowhere where there are fewer marquee TV games than at UNC or Duke. And even though they dominate their conference, they still perform pretty well most years in the tourney, this year being an example.

03/25/2018 - 10:43am Look, I’m no Izzy fan by any

Look, I’m no Izzy fan by any means, but this is Beilein’s second Final Four and Izzo has seven. He’s won the Big Ten eight times and he has a national championship. Yes, we’ve owned them the last 3 games and have outperformed them over the last few years. But Beilein has a long way to go to catch Izzo’s accomplishments.

03/24/2018 - 11:50pm That may be, but it’s 0% if

That may be, but it’s 0% if you don’t foul. Give your team a chance.

03/24/2018 - 1:13am Yeah, that’s what we did for

Yeah, that’s what we did for the Sweet 16 game too. Place is cool, big and right across from Staples. Plus they sell 40oz draft beers.

03/24/2018 - 1:11am He’s at 722 right now, so

He’s at 722 right now, so even if he gets to 725 this year that’s still 25 per year for the next 5 years which isn’t easy.

03/20/2018 - 10:54am Michigan will have at least

Michigan will have at least 70% of the fans, I’d guess. Certainly for the first game. We had a 24 hour head start getting tickets and there are way more M grads here than TAMU fans, plus not a ton of A&M basketball fans out there. I’m going in a group of 10 M grads.

02/22/2018 - 9:39am I’m about 11 years into my

I’m about 11 years into my sales career and I think Hampton Inn has the best damn breakfast of any hotel. I can’t pass up the waffle maker.

That said, I don’t do many overnights so I don’t get sick of it. Also, I recently switched from Hilton to Marriott so I’m doing a Courtyard tonight for the first time. I’ll keep you posted.

01/14/2018 - 11:42am I'm not being inappropriate.

I'm not being inappropriate. I don't think we're to the point where we can't say a pretty girl is pretty.

01/14/2018 - 12:20am I'm gonna say it she's also

I'm gonna say it she's also really hot.

01/08/2018 - 11:43am What do you mean by MVP?

What do you mean by MVP?  Woodson was never the MVP.  He was defensive player of the year, but that's different.

12/22/2017 - 1:43am Dick Enberg's daughter

Dick Enberg's daughter graduated with my at Michigan, Spring '06. I met him randomly walking to the commencement. Cool ass dude.

I know his dad, he's a urologist with the Mayo Clinic.  Cool story, bro.

12/06/2017 - 10:24am Wait, you need new shorts

Wait, you need new shorts because you thought 7 Ole Miss players were arrested in Michigan?

12/04/2017 - 10:18am I don't know of any De La

I don't know of any De La Salle's in southern CA, the DLS everyone knows is in Concord, which is the Bay Area.

Lot's of big time OC programs to pick from though.  Servite being another perennial.

11/29/2017 - 2:03pm He won't get many reps during

He won't get many reps during bowl practices, but the answer to your question is: because we want to win the bowl game.

11/29/2017 - 1:14pm Biggest bummer here is that

Biggest bummer here is that two in-state offensive linemen made it for other teams (Michael Jordan and Tommy Doles).

11/27/2017 - 7:46pm Did he?

Did he?

11/27/2017 - 7:35pm I'm actually pretty close to

I'm actually pretty close to this situation - my girlfriend knows Vic pretty well, her little sister graduated with hiim at Norco.  I asked the sister about him at Thanksgiving and she felt pretty confident he wasn't at Cal anymore because of grades, she said "he's the dumbest guy you'll ever meet" and she's friends with him.  I don't know if that played a role in why he didn't end up in our class, but it sure could have.  Doesn't really explain him landing at Berkeley instead, but perhaps they were more willing to take a risk on his talent than we were (a risk that didn't pay off, clearly).

10/23/2017 - 10:40am Yes - there's traffic in LA.

Yes - there's traffic in LA.  But you seem to be comparing LA to rural MI, and that's not a very good comparison. It's not like traffic isn't also bad in other major cities.  I hear many of my friends in SF, Chicago, even Detroit complaining about traffic plenty.  And most people in Michigan aren't fishing and hunting in their backyard like you are, so again it's not a great apples to apples comparison. You could live in the Sierras and hunt and fish in your backyard too.

Your argument just seems to hinge completely on your own preferences.  Those are fine for why YOU chose to move back, but aren't exactly unbiased reasons for the sake of discussion.  Not everybody has the "I like fall, not beaches" opinion.

10/23/2017 - 10:36am Sure, it's not "all" greener

Sure, it's not "all" greener pastures, but it's also not hard to wrap your brain around the idea that an 18 year old might want to move to Southern California.  Hell, kids from MI decide to go to places like Knoxville, TN and Iowa City, but LA is the one people can't seem to understand?

10/22/2017 - 11:01pm California is clearly not for

California is clearly not for you, just like Michigan is not for everyone. But in 11 years in LA, I've never been affected by a riot, a flood, a mud slide or a fire. But every single year Michigan has months of snow, rain, construction and bug bites. And it's funny you mention floods, because at least half of the people I know in MI have had their basement flooded.

This is not a dig on Michigan - you can ask my CA friends, my MI love is borderline obnoxious to them. But I think the CA hate is stupid. Every state has its downsides. Most states don't have much in terms of upside. California definitely does.

10/22/2017 - 8:28pm Look, there's plenty bad

Look, there's plenty bad about CA, but as someone who has lived both places, it's hard to say CA isn't a great place to live and anyone who says otherwise is just basing it on certain preferences. We have decent weather all year long with mountains and beaches.

Yes, we have negatives. Just like Michigan has lots of days of crummy weather and mosquitos. Typically there's a reason the more expensive places are more expensive though.

10/22/2017 - 12:20pm It's amazing how much of this

It's amazing how much of this board turns into total pricks when the team isn't playing well. Like normal human decency isn't required when your team isn't undefeated.

10/11/2017 - 12:53pm Well Henne has been a starter

Well Henne has been a starter too, I bet he has more than 21 starts. He has at least 2 full seasons worth.

He's like a poor man's Dathan Ritzenhein.

09/26/2017 - 4:28pm When I first got to campus

When I first got to campus Mitch's had 75 cent pitchers one night a week (I think Wednesdays). This is when it was on the north side of South U.
