Yeah, I'll pile on here.  These players didn't grow up being enemies of each other, and many of them became friends through the process.  This is a complete non-issue.  Like the other posters said, if Shea is sharing info that the OSU coaches/scouts couldn't uncover themselves, we should feel very good about our game against them.

11/04/2018 - 12:23pm Agreed - I really want the…

Agreed - I really want the Rose Bowl too. I moved to LA almost 12 years ago - 2 months AFTER our last Rose Bowl appearance. I’m fucking due.

Cool name, btw

11/04/2018 - 9:46am MSU already has 2 conference…

MSU already has 2 conference losses so we’d have to lose all three final games (including Rutgers) for Sparty to go to the Big Ten champ game.

10/29/2018 - 11:28am I agree with this whole post…

I agree with this whole post.  USC has so much more talent than the rest of their league it isn't funny. Yes, Helton managed to win it, but that's when he had Sam Darnold who he inherited (and didn't even want to start originally).  I was always interested to see what the Helton era would look like at SC post-Darnold, and it's not looking great both from an on-field standpoint and from a recruiting standpoint.  It's getting late early for USC recruiting in 2018, and their record isn't helping that at all.

10/29/2018 - 11:23am Pete Carroll will be 68 next…

Pete Carroll will be 68 next season.  USC is not doing that and neither is Carroll.

10/28/2018 - 4:23pm If we win out, no way we…

If we win out, no way we miss the playoff.  Chill.

10/28/2018 - 4:22pm You think OSU/MSU/PSU is a…

You think OSU/MSU/PSU is a gauntlet, but Bama has a cakewalk?  LSU/TAMU/Auburn is just as hard and they also have Miss St and a very tough Georgia in the SEC champ game. We will almost certainly have an unranked Big Ten champ game opponent.  It's not that different. You guys complain about this stuff way too much.

10/28/2018 - 1:18pm Agreed.  Even more reason…

Agreed.  Even more reason for the line to favor us.

10/28/2018 - 1:12pm I think this is pretty close…

I think this is pretty close, but if I had to go one way or another, I'd say it -7 or more.  We are definitely the better team and it's at home.  We were a full TD fave @ MSU and Vegas loves home teams.

10/28/2018 - 1:10pm Agreed on fuck Georgia but…

Agreed on fuck Georgia but that will work itself out.  Still, cheer for them to lose to UK or Auburn to avoid any SEC chaos.

10/28/2018 - 11:04am 21 or fewer

21 or fewer

But yeah, obvi that means we win

10/27/2018 - 12:59pm Having Villain get healthy…

Having Villain get healthy and be productive would be huge.  We need another DE to allow Paye to start at SDE.  Paye/Hutchinson at SDE would be incredible if Villain/Uche can man WDE.  The also allows Hinton to move inside (which he will most certainly do anyway) to give us better depth at the tackle spots.

10/26/2018 - 2:37pm No, Lewerke was clearly…

No, Lewerke was clearly injured. I know our defense is good, but dude couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn against us and he’s a pretty solid QB when healthy. And they pulled Lewerke for Lombardi when they presumably still had a shot to win. He’s injured.

10/14/2018 - 2:35pm I agree that beating PSU on…

I agree that beating PSU on the road is impressive, but they also have two losses to unranked teams, one at home.  To be ranked higher you need a bit of consistency.

10/14/2018 - 2:34pm I won't neg you for it, but…

I won't neg you for it, but I'm curious to hear who you think should be ranked ahead of us.

10/14/2018 - 2:28pm You think Northwestern is…

You think Northwestern is harder than @USC?  I think Florida St is harder than NW, though FSU has looked kinda bad this year.

10/14/2018 - 2:04pm It's weird that in the…

It's weird that in the beginning of your post you acknowledge that he's perfect from within 40 yards, yet predict he'll lose us a game by missing a short FG.  Huh.

10/14/2018 - 2:01pm We didn't hop Texas.  We…

We didn't hop Texas.  We were ahead of Texas in this poll last week.  Both teams moved up 6 spots.

10/14/2018 - 2:00pm They have before because…

They have before because there weren't 4 other teams with better resumes.  A one loss non-SEC champ Bama would be a tough sell against a 12-1 M team on a 12 game winning streak.  I'd be very surprised if Bama is ahead of us.

10/14/2018 - 1:57pm OK, fine.  As if being…

OK, fine.  As if being ranked #6 vs #9 is that huge of a difference anyway.  A week ago, anyone on this blog arguing that Michigan is better than Georgia would have been torn apart.  One game later and the only reason UGA is ranked ahead of us is SEC bias.

Come on, guys.

10/14/2018 - 1:53pm I'm not saying those are…

I'm not saying those are exactly equal, but you've definitely seen Michigan (and likely many other good teams if you watch much football) sneak by mediocre teams at times.  It happens and shouldn't be a huge factor.  Actually losing is a big deal, but finding a way to win every week is a characteristic of a good team.

10/14/2018 - 1:47pm 11-1 Bama who doesn't make…

11-1 Bama who doesn't make the SEC champ game would be behind us if we're 12-1 on a 12 game winning streak.  I'd bet my house on it.  However, if Bama beats LSU and then loses to UGA in the champ game making them 12-1 is a bit closer.  I think we're still in, but it's harder at that point.

10/14/2018 - 1:44pm You don't think Alabama,…

You don't think Alabama, Georgia and LSU have any hard games left?  LSU and Alabama play each other and Georgia will play that winner IF they win out.  The only way two SEC teams make it in is if Bama wins out and a one loss UGA beats them in the SEC champ game.  Unlikely IMO.

10/14/2018 - 1:42pm But it's not a completely…

But it's not a completely different team.  It's mostly the same team.  And sure, UGA hasn't beaten anyone very good yet this year, but they've crushed everyone they've played and looked good doing it.  They're barely ahead of us, but it's certainly a fair argument that they're the second best 1-loss team right now, behind the team that just beat them.

10/14/2018 - 1:38pm Exactly.  Sure, OSU…

Exactly.  Sure, OSU struggled to beat a bad team, same with ND.  But they still won.  Just like we did against NW.  As opposed to WVU who played a bad team and got creamed.

10/14/2018 - 1:36pm That's ridiculous.  It's the…

That's ridiculous.  It's the defender's responsibility to track the ball just like the WR.  You can't write rules assuming a perfect pass every time.  The answer to your issue is to have the defender play the ball not the receiver.  When you play the receiver, you get yourself in PI trouble.  If you play the ball, you'll slow down just like the receiver.

10/14/2018 - 1:28pm Georgia barely dropped…

Georgia barely dropped because they lost to a very good team, it's their first loss of the season and they're still 10 months removed from playing for a national championship.  I think that's fair.

10/14/2018 - 1:21pm Why is that a terrible…

Why is that a terrible penalty?  DB needs to look at the ball, if he was doing that, that penalty would never happen.  The rules aren't written for "good" throws.  The DB can't interfere with the receiver regardless of how good the throw was.

10/14/2018 - 1:03pm So you're proposing a…

So you're proposing a personal foul on the player that doesn't penalize the team at all?  I don't understand.  What would keep special teams players from going buck wild and attacking the snapper or punter on a kick like that?  If I got a personal foul that didn't penalize the team (I don't even know what that would be) I would rough the kicker on every single punt.

10/14/2018 - 1:00pm But "turned the game" means…

But "turned the game" means it was headed in one direction, and that event "turned" that direction.  We were already looking like the better team to that point.  it certainly helped our cause, but it didn't turn anything.

10/14/2018 - 12:55pm I understand how that works…

I understand how that works.  But it also includes strength of opponent, correct?  Oklahoma has played one good team (and lost) and hasn't played well against poor teams.  I'm sure what they did on a per play basis to sneak by Army in OT doesn't suggest they'll win a lot of games.

10/14/2018 - 12:52pm Fair, but those were only a…

Fair, but those were only a couple plays and that style of his has also earned us first downs other QBs may not have gotten.  And that's also different than saying his performance through the air is troubling.

10/14/2018 - 12:38pm Oh is that the case?  That…

Oh is that the case?  That would make sense for the teams I mentioned, but that's pretty stupid if that has any meaningful impact 7 weeks into the season.

10/14/2018 - 12:37pm Shea rarely tried or needed…

Shea rarely tried or needed to do anything through the air, so I'm not sure why that would be troubling.  The only troubling things are when he tried to do too much and got sacked or fumbled.

10/14/2018 - 12:33pm This list doesn't pass the…

This list doesn't pass the eye test.  Oklahoma at #3?  They haven't beaten anyone and have struggled against two bad teams.  Penn St still at 7 with two losses?  UCF that high despite beating no one?  Really doesn't make sense.

10/13/2018 - 11:29pm Agreed.  Chip has been the…

Agreed.  Chip has been the bigger disappointment I think.  He is a HUGE name hire at a team that wasn't awful.  Scott Frost is pretty unproven as a HC and took over a team that was terrible.

His post game interview was the best thing I've ever seen on a television.

He played more like a fullback in this game.

Great game to have a bunch of recruits in attendance.  And Chase Winovich.

I'll join in. Grew up in GR, moved to CA in 2007 a year after graduating.  I now say soda and my family hates it.  Sorry dad.

10/07/2018 - 3:48pm I wouldn't assume that.  He…

I wouldn't assume that.  He's a great talent but he still has a lot to prove.  In a pretty light schedule this year, he has only exceeded 200 yards passing in 3/6 games, has never thrown for 300 at Michigan and has two games without a TD pass.  He has a strong arm but he also had some accuracy issues (not a ton, but when you're an undersized QB, NFL wants to see everything else be spot on).

I think he'll get drafted eventually, but he doesn't scream NFL QB to me yet and it might make sense for him to stay an extra year.  Guys like Bush and Gary are sure thing NFL guys (though still won't be first rounders, likely) but I don't know about Shea this year.

10/07/2018 - 3:19pm I don't believe you.  The…

I don't believe you.  The most recent one I saw had him as the 9th QB in the draft, and this is a weak QB draft.  I just don't see him as a franchise QB at this point and until he proves that, NFL teams will wait to draft him.

10/07/2018 - 1:51pm At this point, I’d be…

At this point, I’d be surprised if Patterson left. He doesn’t look like a pro QB and isn’t Baker Mayfield-level good yet to make up for that. I don’t see the purpose to leave early to maybe be a 5th round pick. I think there are at least 10ish QBs who would be drafted ahead of him at this point.

10/07/2018 - 1:07pm We're also not the only team…

We're also not the only team with injuries (MSU recently lost their best WR, right?) and it's not like either of those guys (yes, including Gary) has been completely irreplaceable this year.  I doubt it impacts it that much.

10/07/2018 - 1:04pm It's not circular reasoning,…

It's not circular reasoning, it's just the rule.  Like the other poster said, by rule the penalties offset and the down is replayed.  In certain situations, like this one, one of those teams is penalized more than the other, but that's just how the rules are written and tbh it would be too much work to break it down every time there are offsetting penalties.

10/07/2018 - 12:59pm Agreed.  I consider myself a…

Agreed.  I consider myself a reasonable fan on that spectrum and I've sent plenty of texts to family and friends in the heat of the game that turned out looking stupid mere minutes later.  Compound that by acknowledging that many of these people are a few beers deep at this point (especially when the game starts an hour late) and you get a lot of stupid comments that even those posters probably don't believe in hindsight.

I'm not sure we can glean anything from this.

Glenn Frey is also a Michigander.

09/23/2018 - 3:07pm I agree that yesterday…

I agree that yesterday showed nothing but I think he'll be good.  Against Colorado when he was healthy he was dangerous.  His OL sucked yesterday and our D is lethal, but he'll be a problem for a lot of teams a year or two from now.  If he can stay healthy.

I live in LA and it was 98 here yesterday.  September is actually the hottest month here, so I would guess Florida may be similar.
