Semi-OT: Lewerke Likely Out for Purdue Game
https://twitter.com/couchandtherube/status/1055827789872615424?fbclid=I…
Brian Lewerke won't start Saturday against Purdue and probably won't play at all, I'm told. Matt Allen, Cody White and Josiah Scott are also out. Jalen Nailor will play. We're talking about it right now.

Rutgers should have that one circled...they might be able to pull a Rutger on Sparty. Man, that would be just too damn beautiful.
October 26th, 2018 at 2:49 PM ^
Their fans have already checked out. Sparty fans selling their tickets for $6 on Stubhub:

If you team lost the superbowl but played the following week would you pay to go? Also they had 95 yards in said superbowl.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:37 AM ^
But will he get to participate in the pre-game chorus line??
October 26th, 2018 at 11:41 AM ^
I feel like someone good at photoshop should add Spartan helmets to a rockett line or something...
October 26th, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
I could see Brohm's players brawling over that.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:43 AM ^
Guys, they may be Michigan's little brother, but they ARE family dammit!
Who will volunteer to drive to East Lansing and deliver a case of lube (we can steal some from Mad Hatter's garage).
Anyone?
Ok, how fast does Amazon ship?
October 26th, 2018 at 11:55 AM ^
Who would actually go to the game, and root for Purdue? I gotta believe that on a cool, dark, rainy day they will attract 25-30 thousand to Spartan Stadium to see Sparty and Purdue Pete. And that tickets will be about $5.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
I'll be there, granted I won the tickets for free at work. Boiler Up!
October 26th, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
I did that once in high school. Went to the MSU/Purdue game in EL and rooted for Purdue. Can’t remember if M was playing at night that day or on a bye but the timing worked out so I went.
October 26th, 2018 at 2:51 PM ^
Tickets are already around $6 on Stubhub. They may be giving them away tomorrow.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
Amazon sells 55-gallon drums of lube, but sadly they are not eligible for Prime shipping. Sorry, Sparty.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
I wasn't sure if that was a screen shot or some of the directed advertising that's been appearing in the middle of posts
October 26th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
Just be glad it's not that disgusting/disturbing hairy fat guy hoodie. No matter how many times you tell Google to stop seeing that ad it appears the next time you refresh the page.
October 26th, 2018 at 2:03 PM ^
oh man i get that one too, that is terrifying
October 26th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
Zach Smith can probably answer this Amazon question ...
October 26th, 2018 at 2:53 PM ^
Edit: Well crap. Love when you make the same Zach Smith joke as someone that you didn't see because it's on the next page.
October 27th, 2018 at 12:10 AM ^
They keep confirming 1-2 day shipping that will be delivered in 6 days. A Prime fucking if you ask me.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:44 AM ^
Now little brother gets to lose to Purdue with dignity.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:49 AM ^
If Lewerke is out, then I'd would imagine he will sit the rest of the year.... which gives Dantini a dilemma... first, it gives him plausible deniability when they lose with Lombardi.... But, if they lose to Purdue, this could be the start of Dantini's final and permanent ride into the mediocrity sunset... Because chances are they'd finish with a losing record, twice in two years... that might be program killing.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:52 AM ^
Apart from "program-killing," is there such a thing as "program-reverting-to-the-mean-ing"?
October 26th, 2018 at 12:30 PM ^
I was searching how to say it, and you said it best... thanks.
Further, I was trying to say they'll go from a top BIG team, which they have been for a decade, to a middling one again, just a shade above the MAC.
October 26th, 2018 at 10:40 PM ^
If not...there should be-ing.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:51 AM ^
Purdue figures to win . . . but this is exactly the kind of game Dantonio has inexplicably pulled out over the years. He won the 2015 OSU game with O'Connor filling in for the injured Cook.
And of course the forecast calls for rain tomorrow.
October 26th, 2018 at 11:59 AM ^
While true, I highly doubt that Jeff Brohm will have David Blough or Elijah Sindelar run QB Power 47 times and keep Rondale Moore off the field like he did with JT Barrett and Ezekiel Elliott. He'll get the ball to his playmakers.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
Really, rain again? Someone needs to put together a chart of the weather for each team around the conference. It sure seems MSU plays in a massively disproportionate number of them.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:35 PM ^
A side clause of his contract with Lucifer.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:42 PM ^
MSU has a black cloud around it 24/7.

"Where's the threat?"

I'm skeptical of the entire injury narrative. So they played Lewerke all last week until garbage time and then only revealed later that he was injured? I didn't see Lewerke wince once or hold his arm or his shoulder or anything. Afterward, the coaches can't get their story straight about whether he practices the week prior or not.
I'm not convinced that this isn't a polite way to bench your starting QB and see what Lombardi's got

My guess is not much. Now, maybe Purdue will come out flat after last week's huge win, but they've been playing some excellent defense since the Mizzou game.
October 26th, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
No, Lewerke was clearly injured. I know our defense is good, but dude couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn against us and he’s a pretty solid QB when healthy. And they pulled Lewerke for Lombardi when they presumably still had a shot to win. He’s injured.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:00 PM ^
Man Purdue is going to wreck them.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
So Wisconsin is going to be forced to run it on 3rd and short now? Looks like that team just got better...
October 26th, 2018 at 12:22 PM ^
They’re tanking to get a better draft position....Dantoninny is a shrewd operator.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
Lets get back to kicking their ass and forgetting about them.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
For all that say Purdue will wreck them , you may want to connect with a bookie or offshore bookmaker , as currently sparty is a slight favorite
October 26th, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
Depending on Lewerke's health (or perhaps not) MSU could lose 3-4 more games this year.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
Without Felton and Lewerke (especially his running), MSU should struggle to generate offense. Not a lot of offense, but any offense. The rest of the season will be a massive struggle.
It will be interesting to see how Brohm calls this game to get Moore and others into space. Maryland on the road could be a tossup. The game against OSU should be ugly since Urban will do anything to rebuild his team’s swagger. Nebraska in Lincoln is another tossup. They have to get one of those for bowl eligibility.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
There is almost nothing that could surprise me with this game. MSU could win 10-7...Purdue wins 35-0.
No matter what, it’s gonna be dumb, weird and very #BIG
October 26th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
At no time watching MSU vs psu game did I see Lewerke get hurt. I did see him moving his arm and stretching during the Michigan game after he took that first sack.
Michigan should have beaten MSU worse in reality, but of course they gave MSU a gift fumbling on the 6 and missing a fg. Go blue!
I hope MSU goes 6-6 or worse this year personally...I want the program to decline. Being 19 - 18 or worse after 3 years is not good at all. They do not have many good recruits coming in either. Mark Dantonio is a good coach but is arrogant and had success against a struggling Michigan team (like many others). If he stays next year hopefully his overall record will be 8-5 aginst Michigan and hits the road. Go Perdue!
October 26th, 2018 at 1:43 PM ^
If Hornibrook doesn't play against Northwestern, that might make things more interesting. 98% of Northwestern's offense is through the air and Wisconsin's secondary is not that great. Then again...Northwestern had to make a late 4th quarter comeback to beat Rutgers last week 18-15. So maybe this will be another one of those ugly as sin games at Ryan Field. Not M00N ugly but still ugly.
Purdue/MSU sounds verrrrrrry interesting now. I can't see Purdue playing as well as last week again but they SHOULD win. Yet this is the kind of game Sparty seems to win. Maybe we'll get another conflicting story on MSU's QB. He practiced. He didn't practice. He practiced despite having polio. Whatever you say, Mork.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:51 PM ^
Lewerke seemed ok jumping around and motioning to the crowd when he made that td catch.
excuses excuses by mark
October 26th, 2018 at 10:20 PM ^
Harbaugh called it. He said Lewreke was throwing like he had a shoulder problem. I believe that is why he is not playing.
October 26th, 2018 at 2:33 PM ^
3-9 Redux!
(Checks standings)...
Fuck! 4-8 it is!
