Don't tell your wife about Wife Day. She's been looking forward to it.

She invited her sister and mother, who by the way are huge Michigan State fans (her mom practically worships Kirk Cousins) over for the weekend. They are going to be getting their nails done, shopping, seeing a chick flick, and going out to eat while I get to watch my 2 year old at home, which I already do 5 days a week during the day before working in the evenings.

It's infuriating we treat Twitter like the heart of people's opinions on anything. Only 7% of the country uses it.

This is awful. Poor guy. The quick change to life must be jarring when you have presumably worked very hard on this one activity for years and done it successfully. Never wish medical retirements on anyone.

08/27/2018 - 2:16pm Hot Take (guess?): We haven…

Hot Take (guess?): We haven't had a quarterback as good as Shea Patterson at Michigan since Chad Henne.

He lacks Denard Robinson's elite running ability but can throw. He will be as good as Speight throwing the ball but can run. I'm thinking faster Jake Rudock.

Shea Patterson and an improved offensive line and an elite level defense even better than the unit last year?! Road travel games are overrated. Harder yes, but not insurmountable. Remember that monster schedule Michigan State had a few years ago and they survived and won the B1G? That's us this year.

This is a team with a schedule so hard that two losses if they are to the right teams could still qualify for the playoffs. People still don't get the CFP REALLY rewards tough schedules. With the right wins and even two losses Michigan will pass pretender teams with one loss.

08/27/2018 - 2:04pm Worst story ever? I mean…

Worst story ever? I mean...the hell am I reading?

I get being negative about the conference. All the issues are very upsetting. But the team? A disappointing 9-3 with one of the toughest schedules in the country means we beat two out of Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State and Notre Dame and won all the other games. And that's the bad end of expectations? We aren't who you think we are. Do you not remember the recent times where we could barely beat awful teams like Connecticut or Illinois?

The question about Durkin is a catch 22. If he says No, Coach Durkin never exhibited troublesome signs then he looks like an ignorant idiot or is calling Peppers a liar. If he says Yes then why the hell would he have been employing him?

Get bent

Gee I wonder why all the political posts have started in the comments. Wonder who set that example up and basically told people to go fuck themselves if they had a problem with it.

I am unhappy. No one will read this post though.

05/31/2018 - 12:34pm As a fan of a franchise who

As a fan of a franchise who did not understand what a "down year" or "down period" is until we REALLY experienced it, this might be the most ridiculous instance of a manager being pressured to resign.

Auburn got rid of Gene Chizik two seasons after winning the national championship. However, he did have a really bad season in there.

I know you said American but....Leicester City fired Ranieri months after winning the Premier League.

Cannot really think of too many more

05/30/2018 - 4:03pm Nice things and having them!

Nice things and having them!

03/08/2018 - 12:37am That's why you have NBA

That's why you have NBA scouts. Scouts will tell players coming out of high school the reality that they will not be starting or even playing at their current talent level and could use more seasoning in college.

The hurry is if you want to do something and are qualified and capable of doing something....why arbitrarily wait to do that thing? Especially when this could be your livelihood.

02/28/2018 - 10:09pm I have a lucky number....

I have a lucky number....

02/28/2018 - 1:09pm I appreciate you doing this.

I appreciate you doing this. Thanks!

01/24/2018 - 1:47pm I would be absolutely shocked

I would be absolutely shocked if he was not killed in prison. My friend went to jail for three years for statutory rape (he 100% deserved this) and when someone found out that he had some kind of sex crime with a minor without knowing the slightly mitigating details of it being consensual he knocked out my friend with a punch from behind.

A lot of people are going to know who Nassar is. I don't like his survival chances.

01/09/2018 - 10:26am I'm so fucking sick of

I'm so fucking sick of threads like this.

12/17/2017 - 2:08pm I liked the movie overall but

I liked the movie overall but it was too long.

I liked the "ticking clock" they set up with the cruiser slowly running out of fuel trying to escape the star destroyers and liked the mutiny that happened.

I liked the lesson Poe learned about not going on crazy missions which will result in a bunch of death.

I loved Luke almost killing Kylo Ren in his sleep and the dual perspectives of the two on the event.

I loved the Kylo Ren and Rey force connection conversations.

I loved when Snoke was on screen in all the throne room scenes but absolutely hated how we never found out who the hell he is and where he came from. (Friend brought up the insane theory that maybe he's so powerful with the dark side he can reform himself which is why his head was partially split open and jaw all messed up.. so he's still alive)

I hated the casino side mission that ended in failure and betrayal anyways.

I hated Luke dying through....overuse of the force or something?? Choosing to?

I loved seeing and hearing original puppet Yoda, but very much disliked the idea that in death he could make lightning strike down from the sky.

I hated BB-8 saving the day with the AT-ST. Same problem I had with Rogue One. If droids are such great assets in fighting why not use them instead of people.

I thought Carrie Fisher was a much better actor in this one than Force Awakens though I hated Leia's force flying through space to save her own life.

I didn't hate all the comedy but I hated when the comedy happened during either serious moments or badass moments.

I was disappointed for the first time in a main Star Wars movie no real lightsaber duel unless you count Luke vs Rey with sticks or Luke and Kylo's lightsabers touching in the flashback.

11/30/2017 - 1:38am Second toilet? Hell no. A

Second toilet? Hell no. A door to the one stall we have?.....we will think about it

11/24/2017 - 11:26am It's killing me to say but I

It's killing me to say but I am not even going to watch this game if O'Korn is the starter. I know Peters is out of the concussion protocol but that doesn't necessarily mean he's starting and still is there any real reason to hope he won't get crushed again by Ohio State's D Line who will be smelling blood?

Maybe this will finally be the game where Michigan gets all the turnover luck and gets a couple pick sixes, which isn't impossible given Barrett's shakiness at times and Michigan's solid pass coverage. More likely OSU will grind it out on the ground until Michigan's defense breaks from exhaustion because the offense can never stay on the field.

11/16/2017 - 8:24pm It kills me to be this guy

It kills me to be this guy now because I was that person who would watch a ton of college football a year and literally every bowl game humanly possible live (conflicting games at the same time and all)....and of course every Michigan game

Michigan games were a non negotiable 3 hours of non interruption. I then started to let my wife plan family parties or up north trips during the Michigan season with the stipulation that I would get to watch the game for three hours. We have fought about this when up north didn't have live TV or she took me to a restaurant that was not open for the entire time of the game with a casino nearby.

I'm slowly slipping. I've missed parts of Michigan games to see my niece and nephew's soccer games, scheduled work when I know it means I will miss a half of football, listened to one of the games on the radio, and attended other events where my enjoyment of the game will be lessened.

The Ohio State game last year may have broken me a little. I did not go to a party my cousin was having because I was going to be miserable. Just not worth it to get that worked up over sports.

11/08/2017 - 12:05pm What are you talking

What are you talking about?

Ohio State beat Penn State (AKA somebody!) and is overall 7-2. They aren't getting severely punished because their losses are to Oklahoma (top 10 who may not be as good as ranking but they are a brand name program who has only lost once to a not bad team)

...and Iowa is a team with two good wins (OSU and Iowa State) without a bad loss (Penn State by 2, Michigan State by 7, Northwestern by 7).

Michigan hasn't beaten a team that is even bowl eligible! And even if it was close with Iowa and Michigan they would look at common opponents and say well Penn State kicked the shit out of Michigan and Iowa lost to them by 2. Michigan State would be dead even for both teams and we obviously didn't play Northwestern.

11/06/2017 - 1:24am I just watch with pure

I just watch with pure jealousy the amount of time JT Barrett gets in the pocket to throw the football....and he still throws four picks. I dream of a day when a seasoned Michigan QB under Harbaugh has that kind of time.

11/05/2017 - 9:59am I feel like I'm not reading

I feel like I'm not reading the tiebreakers wrong.

It looks to me like it says if there is a tie we go to the result of the head to head winner, which means MSU>UM, MSU>PSU, PSU>UM, OSU>MSU, OSU>PSU, UM>OSU. There is no clear head to head winner with a four way tie using that criteria.

So tiebreaker number one says specifically overall record should be compared.

Michigan would be 10-2, OSU would be 9-3, Michigan State would be 9-3, Penn State would be 9-3. Tiebreaker done without going to the next step looking at division record, which would be unfavorable to Michigan.

Right? I know it's still highly unlikely but it would be a real nice feeling to control our destiny if Ohio State beats Michigan State next week.

10/30/2017 - 12:46pm I obviously want Michigan to

I obviously want Michigan to go with the best option to win games. O'Korn vs Peters was special circumstances because O'Korn could not conceivably be worse and then you might as well go with the guy with a future in the program next year and after.

I would feel slightly bad for Speight because it's not his fault the offensive line blocked terribly early in the year. We have seen Speight be very good when not hurt or had some form of protection/trust in his O line.

I trust in Harbaugh but I think you stick with Peters if he keeps playing well.

10/24/2017 - 6:56pm 4-8 Notre Dame still in the

4-8 Notre Dame still in the playoff race a season later....and our fanbase is bitching about likely finishing 8-4 with a ton of great talent who just need some seasoning (exactly like Notre Dame last year)

10/20/2017 - 10:09am Mock before being

Mock others before being legitimately lambasted for being a rape enabler I guess?

....I'm embarrassed that at one point in time if Michigan couldn't win the Big Ten in a year I was rooting for Penn State to win. Never again.

09/29/2017 - 11:03am Pedal bike car through Ann

Pedal bike car through Ann Arbor tonight...after I fix the lawn entirely. Aerated this morning, needing to add top soil, seed, fertilizer, and milorganite this afternoon.....then trimming the day lillies and hastas for the winter when the toddler I am watching all day has a nap.

I mean, I'd argue I deserve a bang or two.

09/29/2017 - 10:56am I prioritize my wife 365 days

I prioritize my wife 365 days a year minus three hours each on thirteen Saturdays (and still make exceptions for that with weddings and visiting her family hours away up north!). Forty hours a year out of 8760 is not asking too much.

My wife is thrilled about Wifeday. Not because she is a henpecking nag. She is excited because I am available for doing fun things with her without having to worry about being around a TV for football. Because she is awesome we are going on a pedal bike car through Ann Arbor tonight and surely going to be doing something great tomorrow.

It can still be Wifeday even if you are a female fan. You are not tied down to having to watch football it is still your day. The "joke" also ignores single fans, homosexual male fans, or men with just girlfriends. If you cannot tell, I greatly dislike your comment.

09/18/2017 - 12:20pm Hated almost all the choices

Hated almost all the choices he made as an athletic director and he definitely had to go but why do people find enjoyment in this? The guy loves Michigan but was stupidly trying to fit his business CEO model in a place it did not belong. He was walking into an already really rough rescue situation at Toys R Us so do not act like this was all on him.

06/09/2017 - 3:06pm I feel that many people do

I feel that many people do not realize how many terrible Olympic events there are.

If you can win a gold medal for speedwalking why not 3 on 3 basketball?

05/23/2017 - 8:50am Preseason Rankings Pet Peeve

I hate these preseason rankings lists. It's shocking how often the writers put teams in an almost identical position to the way they finished last year and then move around or add a few others so it's not a complete copy.

Out of last year's final AP top 25 rankings, Western Michigan, Colorado, West Virginia, Utah, and San Diego State are the only one's to not make Athlon's Top 25. Fine, a year without much shakeup. Guess it's not too crazy.

More damning, only one of last year's AP top 10 is predicted out of the top ten....that's Wisconsin who they dropped from finishing 9th last year to 12th this season.

Compare that with how teams fared in the last ten year to year rankings. How many teams failed to make the AP top 10 rankings in consecutive years?

Year 2015 to year 2016 the AP top 10 had six different teams in it.

2014 to 2015 the AP top 10 again had six different teams in its final rankings.

2013 to 2014. Six different teams in top 10

2012 to 2013. Six again.

2011 to 2012. Six.

2010 to 2011. Four.

2009 to 2010. Six.

2008 to 2009. Four (though to be fair Oregon was #10 in 2008 and #11 in 2009 so it's nearly three)

2007 to 2008. Six or Seven. (Boston College and Texas tied for #10 so if you count it as Boston College it's seven if you count it as Texas it is six)

2006 to 2007. Six.

So, in the last ten years of polling, only one season produced less than six different teams appearing in the AP top 10 from the previous year. Yet, every preseason ranking list every damn year will always predict more of the same from the end of last year.

It's just not how college football goes. These list writers always underestimate the player losses for the great teams from last year and the growth of teams with a lot of returning talent who were not amazing last year.

05/06/2017 - 4:04pm Feeling snarky so I'll

Feeling snarky so I'll say.....wait, but I thought he was God's gift to coaching and if he had gotten a fair shake at UM would be winning Big Ten championships on the regular now?

It was one of my biggest points of contention with Brian and crew that Rich Rod was a great coach. I think he's a good coach who has an offense that feasts on bad defenses, but has not succeeded against great defenses even with incredibly talented players. That will usually get you to 8+ wins a year but will never win conference or national championships.

03/30/2017 - 2:10pm I thought it was a great

I thought it was a great video highlighting what Peppers can do. I thought it was especially good at showing where his perceived coverage weaknesses come from.

However, I do find it funny that he argues that man coverage is the thing Peppers does best after saying there is not much film on it. How do you know that if there is barely any film on it?

03/29/2017 - 10:22pm I'm only in the start of year

I'm only in the start of year 2.

I was really worried about the blood and thought seeing the baby come out was going to get me squeamish. Thought I was going to just be by my wife's head holding her hand and encouraging her....

....but nope lots of nurses busy at the time she was pushing so I had to hold a leg and saw everything. The blood I saw was all coagulated so really wasn't too bad. Saw top of my daughter's hair and then suddenly she pops out covered in cream cheese!

The placenta looks like a meat brain so prepare for that. I actually thought the cord was one of the grosser things looking like a much larger tentacle and an uglier color than I was expecting.

We had a baby with colic so we had the joy of jumping around the house to put her screaming self to sleep (good exercise). One of the best things I think we did early and often was had her at events with noise and people, which means when baby is napping you can actually accomplish stuff or watch TV or whatever. She's a super social toddler and is not reliant on just being with me and my wife.

Don't be afraid to be ridiculous with your daughter. I sing to her with my terrible voice, wrestle her, give silly voices to her toys, make funny faces and sounds to her, and put her pants on my head.

Good luck! You'll be fine. And congratulations :)

03/24/2017 - 1:06am To this day, Chapelle's

To this day, Chapelle's Killing Them Softly is my favorite comedy special  so I was really looking forward to this.

Watched the first Netflix one and while it was funny I was slightly disappointed. It's almost like a lot of it was stuff he felt he had to talk about rather than things he observed and made jokes about. Bill Cosby being his crushed idol, Kevin Hart doing Chapelle better than him, his "breakdown", the black community being somewhat against him, and even that dig about Key and Peele.

He made it all funny but he can do better. I'm encouraged to hear the Texas one might be that.

03/14/2017 - 12:28pm Wait, but your comment is too

Wait, but your comment is too reasonable! I think this is a great criterion.

03/14/2017 - 12:24pm Why are the kids on social

Why are the kids on social media then? You are taking away the entire point. Most people aren't on there just to connect with friends. Especially on Twitter.

I think it's weird that grown adults want to connect with 17 year old strangers but it bothers me that the adults on here aren't grown up enough to handle how social media works.

Don't want any attention from strangers? Then don't have a Twitter account or make it private.

03/14/2017 - 1:27am Can't the rule just

Can't the rule just be....don't be a fucking asshole? Seems easier and more complete to me.

I don't tweet but I don't really see anything INHERENTLY creepy about tweeting at recruits. I work with kids tutoring students as much as twenty years younger than me all the time (I'm 30). The parents don't really know me going in and I'm usually working in their homes...but I establish boundaries that keep anything from getting creepy territory. I'm not there to be their friend and hang out with them even though I am friendly.

Twitter to me is similar although people are not being paid to tweet. If you're trying to tweet at recruits to become their "friend" or give them unsolicited life advice or yell at them or try to hang out with them you are a creep. If you are sending well wishes to someone who your only connection is that they may end up playing for the team you support I don't see much problem with that.

The Internet connects friends and strangers. It doesn't have to be a bad thing. Just don't be an asshole....or a creep.

02/22/2017 - 9:41am I went to Divine Child so

I went to Divine Child so yeah, fun facts time.

Gary Danielson went to school there. Funny enough, he was on the football team as a freshman when my dad was the senior starting running back, and back then they made the last string (which Danielson was) wear pink jerseys and move all the equipment and what not.

The 2004 class sent two players to Michigan State. Kicker Todd Boleski who ended up as a long FG and kickoff specialist and tight end walk on David Lesmeister who caught some passes but left the team when he didn't get a scholarship after his first or second year.

That is really all I know about the football talent, but my  2005 class was very good at baseball. Three pitchers from that class alone earned college scholarships and the fourth pitcher probably could have but he took a scholarship in golf and last I heard was sort of on the fringe of being a professional. The one pitcher, Chris Rusin, made it to the MLB with the Cubs and gave up Ichiro Suzuki's 3000th hit.

02/16/2017 - 11:39am Great for Rudock! He's

Great for Rudock! He's honestly one of the smarter quarterbacks I have seen play even though I do not think he is as physically gifted as the elite ones. I think he will be successful.

Stafford is physically elite but is definitely missing something in his play. Killer instinct to put teams away? Situational awareness? Not sure what it is.

For example take Matt Ryan in the Super Bowl. Excellent stats, crazy efficient, but two crucial bad plays. The fumble when he got hit by Hightower was not from his blindside so you could argue he should have pulled the ball down and taken the sack (or thrown it away) since he could see the rusher coming. Then the sack he took when they were in field goal range to probably (Matty) ice the game. If he was paying attention to the situation he would have been quick to throw it away at even the hint of pressure.

I just constantly feel like Stafford is making plays like that to ruin all his excellent stats and play besides those moments.

02/03/2017 - 2:27pm Glad you gave recognition the

Glad you gave recognition the Players Tribune and the Sklars. The stream has been excellent both years. I figure it is a tough hosting job with a varied demographic audience and trying to talk to 18 year olds who are not used to this kind of situation. The Sklars have been great.

02/01/2017 - 4:59pm Maybe it should be its own

Maybe it should be its own thread.....but Chris Partridge appreciation. Listed as the #1 recruiter in the country and primary recruiter of Solomon, Anthony, Vilain, Martin, St. Juste, Ruiz, Singleton, and Hawkins. Also helped on a number of other guys.

Gdang man. Thanks for joining the coaching staff.

01/30/2017 - 4:18pm Sports do not necessarily

Sports do not necessarily need to be separated from politics entirely. I personally despise most sports articles about politics because they take quotes from one or two players or coaches and use it as evidence to write an article implying that most people feel that same way. Players and coaches are just people usually with no real background in the issues they speak out on and their opinion deserves as much attention as your next door neighbor.

I have the same annoyance with all the supposedly professional news media that write an article and then site a few tweets as supporting information. Twitter is used by 20% of the population yet seems to have undue influence in getting news coverage.

I have my masters degree in government and have worked in politics in the past but a lot of times I want a space to get away from it. Politics interests me but it also upsets me so I like coming here to not even have to worry about it (except the times where people ignore the damn rule and act like they are not ignoring the damn rule).

01/10/2017 - 5:09pm The point was not about

The point was not about O'Korn beating Speight. The point was that just because a guy has more game experience, like O'Korn did over Speight this year, does not mean that he is the better person to be the starter.

Speight COULD be passed by Brandon Peters though Peters does not have the game experience Speight does.

12/15/2016 - 3:05pm I need help on what to do

I need help on what to do with Julio Jones. I am in a 20 team league so there are slim pickings at WR. I have Jeremy Kerley and just picked up Ty Montgomery. Any thoughts?

11/22/2016 - 1:32pm Ohio State could have five

Ohio State could have five losses and Michigan in the same position and I would be nervous as hell about this game.

11/17/2016 - 9:26pm Louisville is getting exposed

Louisville is getting exposed as a pretender. Look at the teams they have played. Besides an okay Florida State team and a Clemson team they lost to.....not that great of a team.

11/14/2016 - 1:55pm Unsurprising but

Unsurprising but disappointing. Still, O'Korn has not looked out of his depth in his backup time. I may be doom and gloom if he is horrible against Indiana but I don't really see that happening.

11/14/2016 - 1:49pm Thank you for not

Thank you for not overreacting. Our defense did not feel invincible, yet gave up only 12 points. Offense was an absolute mess from playcalling to quarterbacking to failed receiving.

I am hoping this is our Ohio State-Michigan State 2015 Urban Meyer wtf were you thinking reckoning where the entire staff reevaluates and corrects all their deficiencies and goes and smacks down its remaining opponents the rest of the year.

11/07/2016 - 11:14am To David Pollack..."It

To David Pollack..."It doesn't matter what you think!"-The Rock

If we win the national championship beating whoever gets there ESPN will be salivating all over us until the end of Harbaugh. Every strength will become the greatest in the nation and every weakness will be glossed over with trust in Harbaugh or "these are highly talented guys they are just young and need to learn Harbaugh's system" to explain away early losses.

Alabama and Ohio State deserve ESPN's slobber based on results in previous years...which will be annoying if they win and it seems to confirm their point.

10/30/2016 - 11:07pm I enjoy these ever so much

I enjoy these ever so much especially since TWIS doesn't exist anymore.....but can we stop with the little brother/little sister garbage?

10/29/2016 - 4:12pm I will question a bit why we

I will question a bit why we gave up being creative on offense.....but at least there was no disrespekt to be had!

A win is a win. Yay muppets!
