Yay or nay? The thing has grown on me ever since Ace named it.

A mascot? No.

One does not cheapen the very thing which could finally unify General Relativity and Quantum Field Theory by making it a mascot. Its presence in the universe is too important for that.

Sure.  While we're at it, let's make the Arby's Curly Fry his sidekick and we'll place Kraft Rape Noodles at all four compass points around the stadium.

Some things just don't need to be considered, folks.

This is a funny post to me, because I remember the (rightful) expressions of outrage when Brandon floated the idea of mascot as a way to market Michigan football to little kids.

I was against that idea, as I am against this current thing, whatever it is.  Most of us on MGoBlog were against that particular Brandon idea, although I recall that it wasn't nearly unanimous.

Still, I can imagine that a lot of pot-smoking millennials might like this MGoMeme mascot the way that Brandon might have imagined little kids liking a fuzzy acrylic fur cartoon-figure mascot.  I'm just surprised that the chosen name wasn't "Wolvie McWolf Face," in keeping with all other internet memes.

Well, back in the days of the NCAA/football/Stretchgate investigation, I thought that Brandon was a true, real, live hero.  And he was virtually alone among U-M administrators, in standing up against the Free Press and the other media, and in respectfully fighting the NCAA with every resource at his disposal.  Mary Sue Coleman and the Regents and others did and said very little.

The attorney that represented Michigan in that case, the preeminent Gene Marsh of Lightfoot, Franklin & White in Birmingham, AL, emailed me in response to a question I had, and said to me, "You should be very proud of your alma mater."  I was, and was particularly proud of Brandon's exemplary handling of it.

I don't agree with everything Brandon ever did.  His vague, rumored-only "mascot" idea is one of those things that I thought was awful.

But unlike a lot of MGBloggers, I don't ridicule everything Brandon ever did.

Yes, it is awesome! The smug alumni of this great University need to get a sense of humor and embrace it! Neg me to Bolivia if you must! I will just become a martyr for the MuderWolv, the new face of the program. Also, MurderWolv could be the first female mascot!
