This is absolutely correct. And in a broader sense, sports in general rely on these notions and the athletes participating, in large part, support them. I stand behind those who use their platform and popularity to speak out.

07/03/2018 - 9:11am Tampa, FL.

Pros:

Weather…

Tampa, FL.

Pros:

  • Weather is splendid with the exception of May when it's hot as heck and doesn't rain. Winters, everyone knows how it is down here. Summers are actually fun with the storms, except when they turn into Irma.
  • No state income taxes. I got a 10% raise to leave Ohio. Win-Win.
  • Outdoors activities: Fishing is fantastic. Lots of great camping and hiking sites all over the state.

Cons:

  • The main thing out of state fans see is one of the worst stadiums in the worst neighborhood in the area. RayJay is as bland as they come and is located in the red light district. Good planning. smh.
  • Biting midges (no-see-ums). Worse than mosquitoes and biting flies. All three suck, but you cannot see the damned things. It's like being attacked by cloaked mosquitoes and biting flies.
  • Love/Hate with tourists. I love the no-taxes part. I hate the traffic.
  • The SEC.

LOL. No, I am blinded by the whitespace.

Threads like this show how far we've fallen. Even as a community with a strong common interest, we dissolve into shit-slinging over politics. More more is there room for decent conversation and finding solutions together. Nope. There has to be a winner and a loser. And if you're losing, find a way to cheat to win. Fucking pathetic.

Yeah, he gets the chance to go 0-8 vs Golden State instead of just 0-6.

Only 12 hours from the Kremlin to Michigan? Lead foot.

Gawddamn red is an ugly color (except if it involves a winged wheel).

This is what I am talking about. At this point I'd rather face France in the Semis than a Spain team channeling their inner Wolverines.

06/28/2018 - 8:20am I guess the left side is the…

I guess the left side is the "side of death" based mostly on names. Sweden just gutted Mexico and the Swiss tied Brazil. While Uruguay has been impressive, France, Argentina and Portugal have been lackluster. I'd say go for the win.

The blocked users being able to still post is really odd. That security should be set on the server.

06/27/2018 - 9:20am I think it's because each…

I think it's because each instance of the app (yours, mine, mine on my burner phone, etc) would constantly ping the MGoServers for content updates instead of loading when the user accessed the app. This created a ton of unnecessary traffic. I don't know about app programming, but it seems like something that *should* be programmable.

06/27/2018 - 8:19am Disconnect. Do something…

Disconnect. Do something away from technology. I brew beer and go camping. Sometimes I brew beer while camping, other times I just drink beer while camping and fishing.

06/21/2018 - 1:57pm Two Hearted is great, so I…

Two Hearted is great, so I cannot argue with that. Mostly I drink what I brew - I currently have American Wheat, Belgian Blond, Double-Rye Double-IPA, Oatmeal Stout and Koyt on tap.

Gotta get rid of the buckeye blight on the east coast.

The Saudis got dispatched with authority. Not very kind, Russia.

Nine wins for Kentucky or IBM seems like a stretch considering this isn't basketball or computer chess.

The old layout was much better, IMO. It was much more compact - requiring less scrolling. I also liked the blue background.

For functionality, I liked seeing the voting for posts (upvotes and downvotes) versus the total as seen now.

I love Winter... I live in Tampa.

06/07/2018 - 3:25pm I didn't read anywhere that…

I didn't read anywhere that they said there was life - just elements associated with it such as organic materials and methane gas.

The search for life outside Earth focuses on the building blocks of life as we know it, which includes organic compounds and molecules -- although these can exist without life.

06/07/2018 - 8:01am This is true with respect to…

This is true with respect to the way some people offer criticism, however, with any new launch or change, the proprietor (either directly or indirectly) invites commentary and constructive feedback on the change. Change for the sake of change is crap. I think Brian, et. al. are trying to improve their site and it's good for us as a community to offer feedback.

BTW Seth mentioned on Reddit that the reason for the mobile app going away is how it retrieved data. That process put a major demand on the servers and frequently crashed the site during high-traffic times. It seems like a technical fix that can be done and we could get the app back with enough end-user demand.

05/31/2018 - 8:50am Looks like a promising season

Looks like a promising season ahead. One or two non-conference losses (ACC/Nova will be tough, but winnable) at most. Big Ten road games are always a cluster-f, so maybe a few losses there (@MSU, friggin Kohl, @IU and @MD are the toughest). With that in mind, I think this team goes into March strong and notches a 1 or 2 seed at 28-5.

05/31/2018 - 8:17am 12-2. Early loss @ND and then

12-2. Early loss @ND and then an odd one to NW. B1G Champ win, but snubbed from the Playoff. Win in a NY6 bowl game.

05/30/2018 - 2:35pm No defense for it

Sorry, Section 1, I don't think there is much to defend with Brandon. He is one of those "brand-leveraging" types that takes an organically-good item and squeezes it for profit only for profit's sake. In that pursuit, he ruins the organically-good nature of the item and deprives it of its allure and natural profitability. Just because someone will throw a million dollars at you to put their name next to yours, doesn't mean you should.

Aside...Brian: I am the manager of brand de-activation

Now that's funny. I don't care who you are...

05/29/2018 - 3:03pm 2010 Tacoma

I get around 18 mpg driving normally, 20 if I pussy-foot it. No payments left and she's about a quarter way through at 105,000 miles. I look forward to, hopefully, 15 more years without a car payment.

DC Area also has great public transportation. I lived off of the Orange line out near McLean and it was a cinch to get into town. Walk 4 blocks, get on train.

05/24/2018 - 1:04pm My Favorites were the Detroit

My Favorites were the Detroit Pistons ads from the late 90s with the two little white kids acting like they were NBA stars. "Who led the league in ass-ists last year"... "shoulda been you, dog". I wish I could find a video of that one. Triple T, Office Linebacker is also a classic.

There are too many to list that are terrible, but almost all of the insurance ones (except Mayhem), all of the car ads and the Bud Knight ones make me flip the channel really quickly.

05/17/2018 - 12:24pm I went to a LSU @UF game when

I went to a LSU @UF game when I first moved down here (2013, I think) and it was pretty nice. One thing I can say for sure is that no game should kick before 7PM there prior to November. Luckily I was on the west side of the stadium, where the glare of the sun reflecting off of the fans and LSU team on the other side was distracting but not like an atomic death ray.

Went to PSU, Illinois, MSU and ND and am not to fond of any of those stadiums. PSU was before the scandal, so the crowd was friendly. I got to see Alan Branch flatten Morelli as well.

05/14/2018 - 10:25am LBJ's defense isn't what it

LBJ's defense isn't what it once was. He's in the bottom third DRPM for his position. It could be team dynamics as well, but I've seen opposing teams attack him more than in the past and the Cavs trying to "hide" him on a lesser offensive player. With BOS, that's tough to find - you have Brown, Tatum, Morris and Horford who are all capable offensive players. TOR had a half-dead cat at SF.

05/11/2018 - 8:50am THe Predators are largely a

THe Predators are largely a Michigan product. When GM opened Saturn there, a lot of Michiganders moved to to Nashville and brought hockey culture with them. The whole catfish thing is directly descendant from the Octopus.

I hope the HJ superintendents don't put any hurdles in the Garden. It's already a tough place to play without that shit.

05/04/2018 - 11:48am Flair?

"Doesn't it bother you that you have to get up in the morning and you have to put on a bunch of pieces of flair? ... You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair that they made the Jews wear."

04/20/2018 - 1:00pm I like the team that Indiana

I like the team that Indiana has - they definitely play for each other, which is different in the League these days. One of my favorite things in the NBA is to watch Lance Stephenson get under the skin of LeBron. It's hilarious.

04/20/2018 - 12:17pm Indy/ Cleveland

Anyone who expected the Cavs to breeze through hasn't been paying attention. The Cavs are in trouble. Indiana won the season series 3-1 and Cleveland cannot guard any position well, but, most notably, the 2 - Victor Oladipo. The only way Cleveland wins this (outside of injury to Dipo) is if LeBron averages 40/10/10 and Korver/ Smith/ Love start playing better. Bron went off in G2 and they still only won by 3. Let the sweepstakes begin.

Philly is 18-1 since the end of March. Most of that without "Count Blockula". They are the real deal and its not just Simmons and Embiid - Covington, Redick, Belinelli, Ilyasova and Saric are playing great too. I see them versus a very balanced and deep Toronto team for a trip to the finals.

04/16/2018 - 2:51pm Starkly Different

I stayed in the same hotel as the team before the 2004 Illinois game. I went for a stroll around the atrium and there was Coach and several assistant coaches having coffee. I approached and said hi and wanted to wish the team good luck that night. He engaged me in some small talk about school (had on my Michigan Pharmacy sweater) and I went on my way. Several minutes later, I brought back my friends and he talked to us for a little while and told us to make sure to cheer loudly that night.
