Harbaugh did well with weak QBs in his first two years. Last year he couldn't keep any of them healthy because of the aforementioned O-Line problems, but let's not forget what he did with ruddock and 1st year speight.

How is there not an ignore button around this site yet?

Gross?

07/04/2018 - 4:47am What a great recruiting…

What a great recruiting video. Seems like the kind of kid we want at Michigan, just in general.

Go MF Blue.

06/17/2018 - 12:55am I'd say the goal is to get…

I'd say the goal is to get the cfp with a team that can win the cfp. You play against top 15 opponents in your non-conference you run a higher risk of having major contributors with season ending injuries by the conference championship than you do if you take the easy path.

The kinds of injuries that pile up in football are cumulative, the season is a slog, an endurance test, or so I've been told (never played a game in my life). My guess is someone on the team will get something nagging at him after the ND game that will turn into something more major by season's end. My guess is also that the likelihood of that happening would be less if we played against Kansas.

I want to see Michigan beat the best, and also, to hell with noter Dame, so I'm glad we are playing them. But if the goal is to win the cfp, I think Alabama has shown that the best way to do it is to have a cupcake schedule.

06/16/2018 - 1:42am Gotta agree with this. I was…

Gotta agree with this. I was never impressed with Smith. Did not have the vision necessary to see when holes were opening for him. I am not an expert at the mechanics of football, but he felt profoundly mediocre to me.

06/14/2018 - 7:23pm There really is nothing…

There really is nothing worse than a masochistic Michigan fan.

06/14/2018 - 4:55am Being "in common use" is not…

Being "in common use" is not the same as being correct. But "being considered correct" implies that it is in such widespread usage that it is now correct.

English is a living and constantly changing language. You should never get used to a phrase as it was when you were a child.

"Literally" now has, as one of its accepted uses, the exact opposite definition as when I was in high school. It is what it is.

There is no way you could say with a straight face that "Craft before Commercial" applies to Adam Sandler.

I'm amazed that no one has mentioned Philip Seymour Hoffman. Look at the variety of the roles he played. Compare Capote to Doubt to Charlie Wilson's War to Boogie Nights.

My list is:

1) Daniel Day Lewis

2) Philip Seymour Hoffman

3) Meryl Streep

Even though you did say "Actors" you left your pronouns non-gender-specific, so I figured actresses should be fair game too.

Thought about that. It's a smart move. But didn't feel like going through the PITA of selling them.

Fuck yeah, thanks for the heads up. I had been checking on this for months. We're gonna have a crew of 8 making a fuckton of noise.

06/04/2018 - 9:17am I'm not having this

I'm not having this conversation with this board during this off season. Some of you are able to rationally discuss the nature of things and the rest of you listen to too much Michigan sports radio.

06/04/2018 - 9:14am Harbaugh's first recruited QB

Harbaugh's first recruited QB was a redshirt freshman last year. I'd say the verdict is still out on whether he can grow QBs at Michigan.

06/04/2018 - 2:53am Hardly. They had an unknown

Hardly. They had an unknown replacement who performed for less than half the game. We had an undesirable replacement who we had tested and already deemed unworthy who was forced to play the whole game.

You tried to use a false equivalency. And I told you that it wasn't a fair comparison.

06/04/2018 - 12:37am He should be upset with

He should be upset with woodson. He's shit stirring his Alma mater for ESPN clicks. He knows better than to believe what he's saying.

I put no more stock in what he has to say than I do finebaum.

06/04/2018 - 12:04am O'Korn was our 4th string QB,

O'Korn was our 4th string QB, really, as it went Speight>O'Korn>Peters>O'Korn.

Also Haskins didn't come in til midway through the third.

06/04/2018 - 12:01am Woodson said that because

Woodson said that because he's a fucking ESPN personality whose job is now to get clicks and start shit. Thanks for the play Charles. Now forgive me if I disregard what you have to say.

06/03/2018 - 4:17pm I don't know if we could

I don't know if we could possibly get separation from the likes of Alabama this year. I know and appreciate and love all of the talent we have at every position on D, and we have a great, one of the best defensive minds in the country coaching them.

But bama has a shitload of draft picks throughout their defense too. They have amazing coaches too. If it ends up with us separated as the undisputed #1 defense in the nation by the end of the season, fucking awesome. I just think we are finally seeing what elite college football defenses look like and assuming we are the only team with one.

05/28/2018 - 11:51am If you don't feel like

If you don't feel like talking about football during the off-season I would recommend not entering a topic that starts with "Football Discussion" during the off-season.

Cheers!

05/27/2018 - 11:50pm I think this is the spiciest

I think this is the spiciest hot take of the thread yet. I don't think I agree. Peppers was so fucking disruptive.

I mean, I hope this ends up being true by the end of the season, but damn, Peppers was in every ball-carrier's face all the damn time. I just don't recall seeing that level of impact with Hudson last year.

Am I wrong?

05/27/2018 - 11:41pm Sorry to bust the illusion

Sorry to bust the illusion but it was done on an emulator where you can slow down game time.

05/27/2018 - 11:38pm QB was a wildcard in 2016

QB was a wildcard in 2016 too. I would say Higdon and Evans are both better than Smith. I would also say that Black and DPJ have shown at least as much skill as Chesson and Darboh, with ceilings that are far, far higher.

05/27/2018 - 11:25pm I know, I get it. But like I

I know, I get it. But like I said, I miss football, there are data points to discuss, and this is a Michigan board that is at least 40% about Michigan football. So here we are.

05/27/2018 - 10:14pm I was unaware of this

I was unaware of this article. I appreciate the link.

05/27/2018 - 9:11pm I'm assuming they are going

I'm assuming they are going to price him up to live in Boston. In such a case, living in a top 10 American city and enjoying the cultural benefits associated with such a move is a huge benefit. I know the city isn't for everyone, but I don't think it's a fair assumption to make that, because you don't see the value in living in the city, he wouldn't want to also. This doesn't even take into account what seems to be a major professional step up for him.

05/27/2018 - 9:07pm It seems there are some

It seems there are some people on this board who are unwilling to discuss good things that happen to other members of this board, even if there is a productive goal to the discussion. You're post is fine. His was out of line.

05/27/2018 - 9:04pm Shit. Open and shut case

Shit. Open and shut case Johnson.

05/27/2018 - 9:02pm The O-Line might even somehow

The O-Line might even somehow be better this year.

If we can put together a season that relies on a handful of coinflip plays to get to the playoffs, I'll take it.

Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind might be my favorite movie of all time. It's a masterpiece.

Gonna go ahead and put a stamp on this as I am moving to Munich in the fall for 3 years.

05/13/2018 - 11:54pm Ugh. I'm no expert on

Ugh. I'm no expert on recruiting, but it seems to me that if Michigan wants a prospect who can get into Stanford, Michigan does not get that prospect.

05/13/2018 - 11:27pm Sure, that's fair. PSU has

Sure, that's fair. PSU has had a better last 1.5 years than Michigan, and if that's the only way you intend to evaluate the status of teams, then PSU>UM. When you say something like Michigan is chasing PSU, it implies to me that there are systemic advantages that PSU has over Michigan that suggest that PSU will have greater future success.

But in terms of the returning production/talent, the changes made off-season, the current in-game coaching staff, etc., I would wager that Michigan finishes 2018 ranked higher than PSU (I am not a betting man and I am not offering you a bet), and Penn State at Michigan is extremely low on my radar of games to be concerned about this year.
