OT: Reason(s) we hate Pam Ward
As we have all heard by now, Pam Ward will be calling the Michigan @ IU game this Saturday on ESPNU. I can't stand this women for many reasons so I thought it would be fun to see why everyone else also severely dislikes her.
I can't stand her because she totally kills the players names and couldn't diagnose a play if it was right in front of her face.
How about the mgocommunity?

Because she makes my heads hurt - one more than the other...
September 27th, 2010 at 8:11 PM ^
Her mere presence in the booth is a reminder that an angry and well-organized minority can make a lazy or frightened majority cater to its whims.
In the interest of political correctness, I'll say no more. :)

I can't believe that Ms. Ward found time in between doing photo shoots for Playboy and Esquire to call this game.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:11 PM ^
And he ran down the field... Touchdown.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:30 PM ^
This exactly. And her voice. Just not good for listening to. Seems kind of important for broadcasting
September 27th, 2010 at 8:49 PM ^
This is pretty much what I was saying above, except you said it better.

Reasons to hate Pam Ward:
1) Threads like this whenever Pam Ward calls a Michigan game.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:19 PM ^
paired with Ray Bentley.
September 27th, 2010 at 10:13 PM ^
spectacularly horrible. I have the rare pleasure, living in West Michigan, of hearing him in the morning and the occasional afternoon. He HATES Michigan. And it shows. Not to mention, he has the broadcasting charisma of a pickled herring.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:20 PM ^
When she says "Touchdown Michigan!" she says it with the gusto of an eggplant and the attractiveness of a hyenas asshole.
September 27th, 2010 at 10:11 PM ^
Because they're that funny. Well played.
September 27th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Bueller...

as I don't have see Millen's piece of shit face I don't care who's calling the damn game.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:48 PM ^
... Millen the Village Idiot is everywhere these days, and is 100 times worse than Ms. Ward.
Think down through the years of all the ex-player "color" announcers who can't speak the language or provide any insight beyond "Wow!"
I think the cheap shots on this have about run their course; there's something off-putting about anonymous guys criticizing a woman's appearance. Definitely not the "Michigan Difference."
September 28th, 2010 at 2:03 AM ^
I have to ask myself what Millen did to get himself a job announcing. I don't know, after being the architect of an 0-16 team not to mention of teams where the best record was 7-9. That mediocrity doesn't happen often....It's almost a malicious form of mediocrity. And when ABC has that jackass covering the Michigan games, it's almost like they are raising their middle finger to the State of Michigan. Hey ABC, you still pissed that King Coleman owned you in all his interviews with you?
Oh and what was the deal with the announcers during the EMU-OSU "game"? Did Tressel give them certain favors? I mean they made it sound like he was beating a team that was coached by the reincarnation of Bear Bryant, Fielding Yost and Knute Rockne....Geeze....And they couldn't help fawning over themselves when Tressel called a trick play when ahead by 25 points in the third quarter.....Geeze....
September 27th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
It's because she's really bad at announcing, and I just know there has to be a human being out there, preferably a woman just to keep things PC, who would be better at that job than Pam Ward. ESPN should give that person, again preferably a woman, the job. Pam Ward makes games almost literally unwatchable. They might as well not even bother with a play by play person.
I would much, much prefer to listen to the game in another language by someone remotely competent (not even really in football, just announcing) than listen to Pam Ward. I find listening to golf on the radio more interesting.
I dislike Pam Ward as an announcer. Immensely.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
Pam Ward should be immediately replaced by an actual member of the human race.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:37 PM ^
because she says "and thaaat is going to beee a toooouchdoooown..." 10 seconds after the PAT.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:52 PM ^
Replace Pam Ward with Gregg "Free Beer" Daniels. Problem solved.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
How long do you have?
September 27th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
If we have to have a female play-by-play announcer, why not Sage Steele or Hannah Storm? They obviously can inflect their voices and read from a teleprompter. Reading from a spotter's prompts can't be all that different.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
Pam Ward to say: "Denard passes it to the man... and boom goes the dynamite."
September 27th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
I mean, come on, they just wanted some fucking candy Pam.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:32 PM ^
She is going to be silent for 3 precious hours this Saturday because she will be largely unable to carry on about "time of possession" the whole game like she has done for the last 2 years.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
Pfft
Nessler is worse than Ward, and Tirico is one of the worst
September 27th, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
and the first 45 seconds of this are priceless... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT-j_LSWM_A
September 27th, 2010 at 9:45 PM ^
I don't hate Pam Ward as a person, but she's a piss poor football announcer. The injured Marshall player incident was over the top. That and the intelligent comments like " If that guy runs the ball into the endzone, he'll score 6 points".
Anyone want to give her the "Crocodile Dundee" sex verification test? Yikes!!!
September 28th, 2010 at 2:08 AM ^
That's no more inane than some of the other bobbleheads though....
"If that guy wasn't tackled, he could have gone all the way...."
September 27th, 2010 at 9:51 PM ^
I hate Pam Ward because she gets to use any bathroom she wants. Also I heard that Erin Andrews hates her because she never puts the seat down.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
It literally hurts my ears.
If you took a trasncript of what she says during a game and read it, it would not be run-out-of-the-room-screaming bad.
But when you hear it in her odd inflectionless nasal bleat, it just plain hurts your head.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:55 PM ^
for the way she called the indiana game last year. the phrase "Carlos Brown has some good speed" is forever burned into my ear drum.
September 27th, 2010 at 10:16 PM ^
for the WNBA playoffs. That way I'd never have to hear her voice again. Or 98% of the country...
September 27th, 2010 at 10:34 PM ^
Good call on that one:
Sincerely,
MGoEverybody

I'm not a particular fan of Pam Ward because she's not a great playcaller.
This is the thing about there being one woman play caller (or woman doing X): if they happen not to be very good at it, they kind of ruin it for the rest of us. The next talented chick wanting to play call is going to have to overcome the Pam Ward stigma. While having people make snippy comments about her looks (if she's not Miss America) and basically catcalling her on message boards (if she's cute).
September 27th, 2010 at 11:07 PM ^
Because her face looks like it caught on fire and someone put it out with a pitchfork?
September 27th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
2) She made me stay down in a hole
3)She did a creepy dance with her thing tucked between her legs.

/and i'm using the word "female" very loosely
September 28th, 2010 at 10:07 AM ^
which one of these guys is Pam Ward?
September 28th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
I hate when she calls games! I was terrified that she would be calling the BG game, I couldn't even describe the relief / excitement when I heard Brian Griese's voice.
September 28th, 2010 at 4:51 PM ^
She's a man, man.
September 28th, 2010 at 6:07 PM ^
commentary on the year 2008 would be something like, "In my view, as good as Michigan was in 2007, that's how as bad they've been now."
September 28th, 2010 at 7:15 PM ^
and that's not hyperbole, she really is the worst sportscaster ever, in the history of television and radio. I'd rather listen to "boom goes the dynamite" guy call every Michigan game for the rest of my life than listen to "her" call any more games. Here is a classic Pam Ward-ism for your amusement:
