Never really understood the hype on this one. I think people who traveled out West would rave about it because you couldn't find it back home at the time. My reaction to its arrival in Maryland last year was apathy. Many better brews readily available now, but to each his own. |

Love that style of beer. It's fun just watching the way the beer swirls in the glass after you pour it. So smooth. Have you tried Old Speckled Hen? |

I bought a fifth of Eagle Rare at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, KY last year. Very, very nice bourbon. Are you from Kentucky, did you buy in KY, or option C? I ask b/c I was under impression this wasn't widely available. BTW, I got some whisky stones for Xmas this year as an alternative to ice. Not quite as cold, but it does prevent any unwanted watering down of the whisky. |

Sampled so far tonight: - Epic Brewing Brainless on Cherries (Belgian style ale) - Bell's Two Hearted Ale (decided to throttle back on Hopslam as I'm down to last 2 six packs)

and so far have had a couple of beers my brother-in-law brought over: Heavy Seas Loose Cannon and Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye. The first I've had before and it's pretty solid. The latter not so much. From there I'll probably grab one of my latest acquisitions, Troegs Nugget Nectar. People seem to be pretty excited about that one. My only problem is that I can't help but comparing beers to Hopslam now and NN is no Hopslam. |
| 13 weeks 4 days ago | Green Flash Imperial IPA |
Just returned from dinner out at Two Amys in DC where I was pleasantly surprised to discover they had Green Flash Imperial IPA on tap. I'm a big fan of double IPAs and had recently heard about this one (perhaps on MGB). Green Flash is a very good beer. I've been spoiled recently by Hopslam. Green Flash << Hopslam, but it is definitely worth trying if you have the chance. Speaking of Hopslam, I still have a couple of six packs left, so I'm going to pack 2-3 bottles along with the last of my Founders Breakfast Stout as I head over to a fellow grad's house to watch the game against Ohio. Go Blue! |
