OT - Movie you HATE, from an actor/director you like?

We did music last year... lot of responses...what about movies?

I'll go first:  I didn't mind Green Lantern so much, I certainly don't think it was Ryan Reynolds worst movie. That would be the Voices.  If you haven't heard of it, good for you.

Dunkirk. I love Nolan but I just do not enjoy the film. Nolan is at his best for me when he shuffles the timeline and writes big speculative pieces. He tries to bring his style to a war film but its a bad fit for me

I don't watch many movies, but the Coen brothers have produced some of the most engaging and entertaining movies I've ever seen.

Except for "The Big Lebowski." I didn't hate it, but it didn't hold my interest, I didn't like the character Bridges played, and never finished watching it. Some day I'll give it another try.

I watched it when it came out and thought it was dumb. Then I watched it in college and enjoyed it more. Probably have seen it 10-20 times since and times 2-15 it got better every time watching how things tie together more and more. I still enjoy it though. Won't tell you what to do, but you may give it another change.

The Greatest Showman. I like Hugh Jackman and I like musicals, but this movie is one of the worst "big hits" I've ever seen. The character development is a mess, the story is all over the place, and worst of all, the music sounds like a bunch of late Fall Out Boy or Imagine Dragon songs that didn't make the album.

Pasek and Paul, who wrote the music to The Greatest Showman, among other recent Broadway and Hollywood musical hits, are both Michigan alumni. I can't hate on them for that reason alone.

Anyway, I have to disagree on TGS. I see where you are coming from, but to me it's exactly what I would expect from a modern musical with 19th Century subjects, made to be a Disney hit. It's a live action version of the fairy tales, basically. I enjoyed it for what it is and didn't expect anything more.

Hugh Jackman in Les Mis though - one of the worst of many issues with that movie.

Looking at reviews and talking to people I know, I'm definitely in the minority when it comes to TGS. I was expecting something with more depth, musically and in the storytelling, but that doesn't appear to have been the goal of the filmmakers.

The Les Mis movie has a lot of glaring issues, but I'd choose it over TGS any day. It would have been much better if they hired legit Broadway talent, especially considering they recorded the music live, but the acting was solid and the story is a classic. I wish more musicals recorded live vocals with the scene even though I understand the logistics are a nightmare. With this approach, you can see and hear the emotion really connect vs. the typical overproduced soundtrack layered on top of the lipsyncing actor.

I'm gonna opt for The Counselor (2013).

What a terrific cast, including some of my favorites in Michael Fassbender, and Javier Bardem, with a screenplay written by one of my favorite authors, too, in Cormac McCarthy.

I've never seen a more self-indulgent piece of shit in my life. Cameron Diaz basically has sex with a car in this film. And you might be thinking to yourself, "well, hey now"... but no. Just...no.

Cormac, I love ya, man...but stick to novels.

Big fan of Ridley Scott movies, but he made "The Counselor" in 2013 and it was one of the worst films I've ever seen in my life. I was literally pissed off at the end of that movie it was so bad.
