I like the Chip Kelly hire. BOB felt like an uncomfortable square peg/round hole situation. But Kelly & Day have a long history and share a lot of concepts. I think they'll mesh very well.
Have you hung the Buckeyes 2024 Off-Season Champs Banner yet?
Seems like a good guy. Has a plan/identity for his offense.
The unknown is being a head coach who's never before been a head coach. And to be a first-time HC at a premier program like this...sometimes ya never know. He & Day have that in common.
Yes, OSU's 2024 non-conference schedule has a very Michigan 2022-23 feel to it. That certainly brings down their strength of schedule overall. Strength of schedule within B1G games will have a direct effect upon who gets to play for the conference championship.
There's a clear top-4, then a huge gap to the rest of the pack, according to SP+.
no team plays all of the top 4
5 teams play 3 of the top 4
9 teams play 2 of the top 4
3 teams play only 1 of the top 4
1 team plays none of the top 4 (hooray Rutgers!)
Of the top 4:
OSU is the only team to play each of the other 3
Michigan & Oregon both play 2 of the other 3
Penn St plays only 1 of the other 3
Penn St clearly appears to have the scheduling advantage among the top expected contenders. If OSU gets to the B1G CCG they will have earned it!
NOTE: P5? What's a P5? ...oh, you mean P4! ...actually you probably mean P2x2.
I would prefer to see the B1G schedules showing only conference games. In-conference scheduling will be a huge factor in determining which two teams make it to the B1G CG.
(...will be a lot of out-of-balance scheduling within conference play, unfortunately.)
Depends on the change...McCord was green, but fine. Probably a top 10-15 QB in the nation. In 2024 he would probably have been top 5-10 and OSU would be better off keeping him.
Not sure Howard is an upgrade. Has better legs but I suspect McCord might be the better passer.
this is still the team that looked ill-prepared to play Missouri
This take needs to be limited to one side of the ball. O-line and a pair of backup QBs were a mess.
for the last 3 years been pushed around by UM
Don't fail to recall that according to the UFRs by Brian & Seth, both D-lines won the battle in the trenches last fall. (Now I'm sure most of you will point to Michigan's 4th quarter drive, but Brian's O-line rating was a miserable 56% prior to that drive and still a substandard 62% after it.)
OSU hasn't been that close
Failed FG vs GA (as mentioned in the above comment), and had they pulled out a close one against Michigan last fall, they would have been in the CFP. So yea, I'd say pretty close.

Rex Grossman was the QB of that team, but he did not take them to the Super Bowl.
So bang…
You took my coach.
So bang me!
Yep. Time to bring down the Offseason Championship banners!
life is unfair
Yea, as a basketball player: De'Nylon de'swishes!

Not yet. Still developing the artwork.

the ENTIRE coaching staff ;-)
YOUR BASKETBALL TEAM SUCKS !!!!
White meat on Rice?
OSU non-con schedule is dog meat.
But among conference games, OSU is the only team among the top 4 expected contenders (incl. Mich, Oregon, PSU) that plays all of the other 3.
Actually, it means ND will never get a bye. They could get a home game as a 5-8 seed.

Nice analysis. Great work as always!

Maybe he wanted a tattoo.
But Chip's offense meshing with Day's offense? ...I'm excited to see it!
For the BOB hire I was like...
...but for Chip Kelly, I'm more like...
rehabilitation ward
I'll buy that for a dollar.
Strack is not an OSU fan.
He'll probably climb the Himalayas.
...or die trying.
Is Cleveland a suburb of Pontiac?
B! 1! C!
or would…
B! 1! C!
B! 1! C!
or would it be: S! E! G! .. S! E! G!
I'm an Ohio University graduate, and I cared intensively about the rivalry several years before I ever enrolled.
HULK SMASH
But also a 48-yard FG is not a gimmie.
Ask Moody.
What else does The Dude have to do with his time except bowl, smoke, and look to replace a rug that really put the room together?
The Dude has all week to distribute 4.5 hours of disposable time.
Which base does Sherrone Moore start on?
OSU's "favorable schedule" includes @ Oregon and @ Penn St.
...two road games that are tougher than any of Michigan's 2024 road games prior to entering The Game.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
I have not donated any money, nor do I intend to.
This has 2026 in mind as much as anything else.
If you let 100 compete for the position, you know the winner of the competition is legit special, and 97 others can transfer.
I like the way you think...can we get the scholarship limit raised to ~180?
Looks like I'm gonna need a raise.

You must read more 11W threads than me because I've read none of them.
And you know this...how? Isn't this the place that demands evidence when accusations are made?
What percentage…
Don't know.
What percentage of Michigan 2023 returnees do you think were hungry to achieve big things vs. how many came back to improve draft stock?
Any of them could've gone if they wanted to, like Marv & Hall did. But they didn't. It's their choice.
You don't think they have plenty of friends/family/moochers pointing them to the NFL?
See my comment below about OSU's 3 goals.
I'm all for it.
When Michigan returns guys, it's because of a great culture.
When OSU returns guys, it's because of a selfish culture.
...Me feels like I'm repeating meself.
You always need ~3+ RBs to get through a season.

Ohio State football has three goals:
The '21 class has accomplished none of them. (0-9)
Several players want to meet multiple of those goals before they leave.
I appreciate all the responses.

So if your team has draft-eligible guys return it's because of a great culture.
If your rival has draft-eligible guys return they still have a sucky culture.
Got it.
(sigh)
Football…
I hate football.
Football is stoopid.
Stupid, dumb, and stupid.
Everything is stoopid.

Saban was only fired once.
40+ years ago as a DBs coach.
Good. I want him in the B1G and to keep Oregon a top 10 brand in CFB. Then they would be everything PSU wanted to be but wasn't.
