it was puzzling to see GVSU in the mix but Brown, Cal, Princeton etc missing.

It looks like what it is - a cladding on top of the actual structure of the building. The clowns that did the last one detailed it as if it was glued on like wallpaper. A school with one of the best architecture schools in the country should be able hire an architect who knows what they are doing.*
*Halo not included. Presidents who don't get college football shouldn't be allowed to hire architects who don't get college football.

...isn't the skybox, it is the shallow bowl geometry. We analyzed it in our graduate architectural acoustics class with Dr. Moji Navvab. Notre Dame Stadium, while smaller, has steeper sides which keep more noise within the stadium.

And it's a bad comparison. All of the UC schools he cites are pretty excellent in different disciplines (Davis: Fermentation Sciences!).

...but for me the metrics that matter are wins on the court, championships, and graduation rates. To read some posts on this board you'd think that there was an alternate national championship awarded on the basis of what might have been except for injuries, players gone to the nba, auspicious seeding and bad calls. Being close to winning is good, but winning is better, and it is a silly thing to knock on a college basketball coach for recruiting and coaching good four year college players and having limited success at creating pros - I don't think that is really part of the job.
Credit to Izzo for maintaining a consistent, quality program, and Coach Beilein for the beginnings of one, conjured out of pocket lint that appears that it may have a higher ceiling.

...but last I heard Clark was facing a fourth degree felony charge. Clark plead guilty to a previous felony charge and stayed on the team after a one game suspension. Our spartan friend is surely facing a felony and will probably have a meaningless suspension for some amount of out of conference play. I fail to see how any of this demonstrates our ethical superiority, or is anything worth laughing about.

I am putting more weight on the Gibbons situation. Both the player and coaching/administration response struck me as disgusting and indefensible, but I recognize (but don't agree) with the reasons that others don't feel the same way.
