OT: Vontae Davis dead at age 35
Not April Fools, unfortunately
Former CB at Illinois, then the NFL. This guy pulled an all-time badass move of retiring at halftime of a game. He also had that moment where he was traded and immediately said he had to call his grandma

RIP Vontae
[EDIT - Original comment was quite tasteless given the news being relayed. - LSA]
Wtf dude?
The good news is while HUEL will not let you edit an original post it will let you edit a comment inside a thread. Now would be an excellent time to take advantadge of that feature and change that comment to something like "I love puppies. I dont know if Vontae Davis loved puppies but I'm sure he did. Too bad he's gone, him being a fellow lover of puppies."
Or something like that.
I also low-key admire the people who are willing to take their lumps. Not in an “I stand by this” way, but in a “yeah I screwed up go ahead I deserve it” way.
^^^EXACTLY^^^
Sometimes your the dog sometimes your the tree.
I hate to pile on, but it's "you're".
I love puppies
Always think before either speaking or typing.
And then seriously consider NOT speaking or typing.
Too young. Rest in Peace, Vontae.
Sadly, based on is recent higlly publicized troubles, the police immediately stating foul play was not suspected and with his ex-teammate and friend Pat Mcafee stating at the end of his show today that listeners should "reach out to your people so they know they're not alone" it definitely appears he took his own life.
So sad.
Fuck. I know the net result of the situation is the same regardless but I'm really hoping it's not suicide. Accidental deaths just happen but suicides are usually preceded by long-term pain. I "hope" for anything else, if that makes sense.
I have no idea if Davis killed himself or if he did, why, but there’s no point in speculating. Sometimes it is because of some physical or emotional pain. Occasionally, it has something to do with trouble the person created for themselves.
Either one results in a seemingly unshakable darkness. I hold no anger for those that could not find their way out of the darkness, as I have been there before. Hopefully, his pain is gone.
This is a story that will be a long time coming. Many people were aware of his struggles, from many different perspectives. I look forward to hearing the rest of the story if it is given; a spunky biographer's dream. Dude was amazing at football.
RIP Vontae.
It's a sad permanent solution to a temporary problem. RIP
I'm a Colts fan and he was one of my favorites. People underestimate how good he was at his best. The battles between he and Demaryius Thomas in their primes were so fun, and now we lost both before they were 40. RIP.
Wasn't he part of those Juice Williams Illini teams that gave anOSU fits?
This sucks. He was one of those work-hard heroes for me as a Dolfan. Mandich and Rose were big Vontae fans.
