will be talking about it now. When it's on the podcast it's right after the Marcus Ray segment.
Hand called Webb while he was on with Marcus for his regular segment.

It's not an expensive or flashy place, but it's not bad. If you're high up, you're a little far back but not any different than any other new stadium. Some people are disappointed that it didn't have a cool view like Comerica or other palces. There's also nothing around it in terms of bars and the like. As it was explained to me, 2008 was not the best year to try to get development started. Finally, they could do more with the fact that it's right by the Anacostia river.
|1 week 2 days ago||The old Boston Garden||
It was built for boxing, so no matter where you were you had a great view of mid court. We were in a loge-type section with the deck above us hanging over so close that every shot at the other end of the arena disappeared from view. To check out a score board you bend down below your knees to see, which made verything upside down.

Reading the piece Farnn posted (http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/traits-saban-targets-recruits) I feel even better about the recruiting philosphy. I think the staff has the chops to coach them up as well. 'Bama has a few other advantages that makes me think we're not going to be quite their equal, but nonetheless, I'm even more optimistic about the future now than I was after the Sugar Bowl.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Weird observation about recruiting||
Midwest guys have committed a lot earlier than other areas. The far West stands out as nobody in the top 15 out there have committed.

We will only play Wisconsin the championship game.

I'm surprised that this board hasn't discussed the fact that the grumpy cat has an agent and a movie deal. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324412604578513352795950958.html?mod=trending_now_3

Inflation has been very low for a long time. What has been a problem is that real median income has been unbelievably week.

There are 2 issues w/ Michigan's recruiting of Ohio: The top players and the rest of the solid base.
Of the top players, it's a combination of an unuaually low number of top players and a small sample. IME only 5 of the top 20 Midwest players are from Ohio. Typically that number is about 10. (Of the rest of the top 20, 4 are from Michigan, 6 are from Illinois, 2 from Iowa, and 1 each from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana.)
It is true that of those 5, Michigan only has one in the bag, and Lattimore will probably go to the darkside, giving OSU the other 4. Berger was a head to head fight. I don't know how the recruiting of Booker and Trout went. But, if that ratio were 2-3 instead of 1-4, it would be spot on the goal.
The second issue is why we're not reaching further down in Ohio. Normally, we'd recruit deeper down, but the combination of the smaller class, good luck elsewhere and Brady's apparent strategy of working for more at the top means fewer OH recruits overall.
I'll bet next year is in between this year and the previous one.

I heard this story with my son on the Steve Czaban show this morning but didn't hear that it was at Michigan. Amazing
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Wings have a chance||
Because they're playing really hard--only a chance b/c the Black Hawks are better. Better than just a chance if Howard can continue his play.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||We'll see about Sparty's offense||
The offensive line and receiving corps will be better than last year.
Quarterbacking won't be worse and probably should be better.
Running back will likely be worse and tight end certainly will.
To be sure, the offense could improve a chunk and still be poor, but I don't think it's a slam dunk that they'll be terrible.

Hayes wasnt the only guy blown up by Ross this spring. Also thatbwasnt the only blitz pick up Hayes had.

I'm still ashamed of myself for secretly hoping Charles would stay to make another run at a championship. So this time, just thank you and all the best.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||My 2 cents||
The next step for Spike is to be a bigger part/generator of the offense in a hwlf court set. When he was running the show, it seemed like he'd just toss over to THJr and get out of the way. That's not a complaint or anything. The back up isn't going to get the same work, and he was a freshman. But, that's the next step.
Mitch coming back would be big for the leadership. I remember people talking about how instrumental he was in getting the freshmen class thinking team.
You're absolutely right that Nik needs to work on a one-step dribble then 3-point shot.
I'm confident that we'll have the pre ankle-fold Jordan Morgan back next year.
One area where it would be great to get some improvement to offset losses elsewhere is better/tighter defense from the guards up top.
The future is bright.

I think Louisville is a bad match for Witchita, but Witchita is a bad match for Michigan.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Syracuse may not run a true 2-3||
But, watch Georgetown's utter demolition of Syracuse at the Verizon Center, and you'll see Otto Porter spending the entire time catching passes at the free throw line. The fact that IU had the perfect player to do that and couldn't accomplish anything is an indictment of Creen, not the strategy.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||Agree with above two posts||
It's not an automatic open shot on the outside with Syracuse as it is with other teams. THey're tall, and they're committed to the zone. We'll get open shots from the outside only by working the ball for a bit. Michigan is obviously good at running out, but they're also excellent at working offsense. So, I would expect us to be effective in this regard. But, we have to execute.
Yes, you have to take advantage of whatever easy points you can get.
I'm not sure about zoning Syracuse, only because we don't seem that good at it, but maybe I'm woring.

My understanding is that the NCAA wanted better attendance so, within some bit of reason, try to schedule guys geographical. With the fraudulent Moutnain West out there, what are you going to do?
No doubt that Ohio lucked out this year. It could have been worse for Michigan, so it's not like we can complain.

Impressive win. It might have been a little closer at the end, but Iowa made its free throws.

I missed your other 99 comments to the effect. They must have been in otherwise seemingly uninteresting threads. You might also alert those in charge of the depth chart by class as he is not listed there either.
