I'm pretty sure he meant unorthodox approaches to strength training.

I would be completely shocked if a S&C coach at this level employed strength programs with zero level of specificity like this.

Time to put away the jump to conclusions mat.
He said that sports fans on the internet overstate the importance of the S&C coach. He never said it wasn't an important role.
Anyone remember the absurd level of hype Barwis got when he came with RR? Barwis is a great coach with a contagious attitude, etc. But let's be real here -- was there much of a demonstrable difference on the field from gutting the weight room and getting all of the players to incorporate olympic lifting and plyometrics? Of course it made some difference, but anyone who was on this board circa 2008 remembers that the guy was approaching deity status. It's silly. For as maligned as Gittleson was for the mythical "eat a pizza every night to keep your weight up" dietary advice he shelled out to the OL allegedly, his linemen never got pushed around like some of RR's guys did.
S&C is important, but it's just one piece of the puzzle.

The coach was Bill Lynch, and he was running around completely livid, stopped, reached into his mouth, grabbed his gum, pulled his gum out of his mouth, looked right at it, and then threw it across the sideline.
I remember because I strongly contemplated registering "BillLynchGumThrow.com" for about 5 days afterwards. An MGoBlog member even made an animated GIF of it for me.
Also, you're right -- that was an awful call.

Disagree with this completely. As the rule stands/stood, one foot (and in his case, one toe) down in-bounds is a catch in-bounds. It's irrelevant where the heel strikes if the tip of the toe touches down in-bounds first, which is what happened on that play.

Thanks. I actually work in a PT clinic, so I might be able to con one of the PTAs into helping out when it's slow.

Haha, my numbers are pretty mediocre (especially my bench) and I don't compete. My deadlift was decent; I was able to deadlift 450 lbs at 5'9", 165 lbs bodyweight at one point like six months ago, but I've been nursing a hip flexor injury for a long while now. I have no idea what my current maxes are. I was squatting 335 lbs and benching 235 back then.

First Name: Shane
City: Livonia, MI
High School: Divine Child High School, Dearborn, MI
Sports: I enjoy running and powerlifting
Hobbies: Playing and teaching guitar, recording, making beats, retro video gaming
Music: mostly hardcore punk, post rock, instrumental hip hop, and mid-seventies jazz fusion
College: Michigan LS&A 2007, BA in Psychology
Went back to school in 2013 to fulfill prerequisites for Physical Therapy school: did two semesters at Schoolcraft College and then two more semesters at Wayne State. I finished my prereqs last semester, but I'm strongly considering taking a few more semesters of school to knock out the rest of the pre-med slate of classes, taking the MCAT, and applying to medical school instead.
Now: I work as a tech for a PT clinic in Troy.

I have thoughts.
1) Um, everyone has said it already, but BO HAT.
2) Anyone else get the sense that Jim could strap on a helmet right now and head into a game? Watching those clips, I got the sense that it's in the back of his head. Hahaha.
3) The man looks all business. Love it.

I'm sure half of these geezers complaining about producers not playing "real" instruments had no problem with Pink Floyd and The Who extensively using computer-sequenced synthesizers (both in the studio and live) in the mid-to-late seventies.
Comparing a traditional musician to a producer is like comparing gymnastics to painting: it doesn't really work. I find it hard to believe that anyone actually listens to any piece of music and first-and-foremost takes into account the perceived level of skill/talent/difficulty required in judging that piece of music instead of just listening to it and deciding if he/she likes how it sounds or not. It's silly. It's also silly to disparage one form of expression in comparison to the other, given that cheap digital sampling has been readily available and used in pop music for well over thirty years now. It's not going away, guys, and odds are, some of your favorite musicians who play "real" instruments have utilized it extensively on some of your favorite tracks. Get over it.
|1 week 1 day ago||I'm not really sure why||
I'm not really sure why you're randomly comparing Springsteen to Kanye West (other than to invoke GET OFF MY LAWN rhetoric), but when your chief complaint about a celebrity musician/producer/whatever is that he uses auto tune, it's probably not in your best interest to compare that person to a vocalist who is frequently flat and sounds like he's passing a kidney stone.
Also, why is auto tune even being brought up? Kanye only used it on like, one album as an aesthetic choice.

|3 weeks 4 days ago||Dude, let it go. It's||
Dude, let it go. It's obvious why -- we swung and missed on a large number of recruits. We (maybe unfairly so) were expected to land a number of players just because of the glitz of HARBAUGH. It's revisionist history to pretend we didn't strike out quite a bit on NSD.
Onto the future. Okay?
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Because we swung and missed||
Because we swung and missed on so many recruits.
I'm as excited as anyone for the future, and I'm sure Harbaugh will do his best to coach everyone up, but yesterday was not a good look at all. Let's not pretend this was normal or that it doesn't matter. This is invariably going to impede our progress.

I can answer this in earnest: the ONLY times I'd ever seen commercials for the avocado industry prior to tonight were during the first several years of Big Ten Network programming.

I do like the Wolverine logo, but I like it in the same way I like the old school Detroit Tigers circle logo with the tiger in it -- it's a cheesy, sort of rotoscoped-looking print that has nostalgic value, but let's leave it in the past. I like the idea of a newer illustration like OccaM posted. I'd seen those previously and thought they were pretty cool then.
