I can't think of a better person to head the program right now

[Edit: Let's hold off on CC threads until disciplinary action has been decided upon by the B1G and by Warde Manuel.]

Which is less realistic:

  1. a 69 year old coach returning to restore dignity to the program he built
  2. a grown-ass man setting his career on fire by punching a guy on National television

If you’re wondering, I was referring to Bill Snyder and Woody Hayes, but it may have relevance to the current situation.

2a. A coach slugs a totally innocent, unsuspecting player with no provocation.

2b. A coach karate chops an attacking, instigating assistant coach after being physically confronted by another coach.

2c. A professional punches another professional while people are between them because both professionals are physically ready for an altercation.

Hayes - Juwan - Ali. No moral relevance between the three.  Usually best to differentiate situations before summarizing a situation.

IF Juwan gets fired, the obvious interim is Martelli or Eisley.  IF Juwan gets fired over this, there will be plenty of time to find a coach, we don't need a 2-year interim type of situation.  Beilein would need time for reinstitute his system with his players, and he can't do it in 2 years.  Nor could he recruit at a high level, with everyone knowing he is only there as a stopgap.  I loved JB, but he's not the answer this time.

There is a group of you who have been waiting for something...anything...to put in this call.

John Beilein was 15-17 in his third year at Michigan...in his 18th year as an HC. Juwan has a higher winning percentage at Michigan than John.

But none of this matters-a deeply flawed and utterly ridiculous proposition.

The rationalizations and and comparisons being made here are ridiculous. John left this team in a very negative way and in great disarray. One can make up whatever until the cows come home but the reality is very different from what the Juwan blamers and fault-finders and Beilein excuse-makers are concocting. The more likely truth here is that John fled the bed he had made more so than wanting to go to the NBA. And tell me, why did John believe he had more than a snowball's chance in hell in the NBA-rhetorical...there is no rational answer to this-none.

Bro... no. This is a dumb take. I get that we're all bummed right now, but this makes no sense at all. What was UMs record in the X seasons prior to JB taking over compared to the same number of seasons prior to JH? I'm not even going to look it up, but I'm pretty sure you can't find an X that will show anything close to comparable situations that those two walked into

You do realize JB took over when the program sucked and getting into the tournament was a wild accomplishment, while JH took over a program that went to 2 national title games, multiple conference and tournament titles. This year is a disappointment either way.

I don't even follow basketball but they just need to sit him down and tell him never do anything like this again and apologies to the fan base and move on.  It's not worth a coaching change at all.
