I have DirecTV and my parents have Dish. I strongly prefer DirecTV. I think they have better interfaces (not everybody will agree) and outstanding customer service. There have been a number of times I've called to address something and had them just randomly offer $10 off my bill for the next 6 months. The web based apps they are starting to roll out (like many) are pretty useful and allow me to stream a lot even when I'm not at home. My only complaint is that I do occasionally lose signal during heavy storms (or when snow accumulates on my dish).
|3 weeks 2 days ago||May Not be Good For DirecTV||
There's been a lot of pressure on DirecTV and Dish to merge given some satellite subscription losses recently. This will probably only increase the pressure. As a loyal DirecTV customer who really likes their customer service, I don't want to see that happen. On the other hand, thinking about Comcast and TWC merging two of the worst customer service organizations on the planet seems mildly comical. There's no where to go but up, right?

They just canceled it. The Duke bus can't get there. They were actually encouraging people not to come and were just going to let more students in. They probably should have canceled it hours ago.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Down in NC||
I live in NC now, but grew up in Michigan. I make fun of southerners in the snow all the time, but it took me 2 hours to go 21 miles this afternoon. The big difference between the north and the south is that in those 21 miles, I passed one plow.. And that one plow didn't even have its blade down... It was just salting. Between that and the level of panic, it's just a different dynamic in the south when it snows. .

I had one class with Foote. Based on that one semester, my opinion is that they are low enough already.

I thought it was a bright comment on an otherwise dark board (at least as of late).
I'm done now.

I heard that the mating companions were only offered during on campus recruiting visits.

Jaws on the Lake (the one I saw was in Lake Austin) was a good show. They've long since stopped doing it, but Mr. Sinus Theater was absolutely hysterical there.

Did Kovacs and Omameh actually sign yet? I'm not doubting you, just don't see them listed on the ESPN Transactions page. In fact, neither the Lions or 49ers are even listed... just trying to figure out why.
|44 weeks 3 days ago||Speaking of Michigan Players...||
Didn't see this posted elsewhere and can't start my own post, but a few updates on other Michigan players:
Roundtree signed with the Bengals
Demens to the Cardinals
Haven't seen a Kovacs update, but for those still following Sam McGuffie, he signed with the Raiders... which somehow makes sense.
Apologies if I missed this in another post.

Dave Brandon accepts your challenge. Maybe they all wear a patch in Zell's honor?

I made the same statement about Michigan State when I went to Michigan and was a lifelong Spartan fan. I'm not even sure I made it through half-time of my first game, and I have never rooted for MSU since.
Once you get on campus, Michigan becomes a lot more meaningful than any rooting interests from childhood.

I'm 5'6". If we are both standing and you are in front of me (even with stadium seating), I can have a hell of a time seeing the whole field and I have no way to make myself taller. If we are seated, I have a much better chance of being able to see. I'm all for jumping up on big plays, but I want to actually be able to see the game I paid for too.
Not sure what the solution is though... I sure as heck don't want you kneeing me in the back all game either!

Add some cream cheese, browned ground sausage, browned ground beef, and a little fresh chopped jalapeño and you'll really have something worth eating.

Notre Dame ranks second on my list of most hated schools (behind Ohio but slightly ahead of MSU). Besides, Alabama winning makes me feel a little better about getting trounced by them in Dallas. If Notre Dame wins then it just reminds me that we could have beat them if we had just taken care of the football.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Team's Definitely Fun To Watch||
Stauskas seems like an unbelievable shooter and I love McGary's passion when he's out there. It'll be exciting to see how this team continues to gel and figure out how to play together. I am a little concerned about their ability to close out games though. Over the last couple, it feels like when they get ahead and start to slow down the game to control the clock, they end up giving back a lot of their lead. It's kind of like a prevent defense almost. College basketball is a game of runs, but I'd rather just see them play the last five like they play the first 35. Hopefully this is something they can work on, so it doesn't cost them down the stretch.

I used to live in Texas (Cool Story, bro), and lived there just long enough to develop a healthy loathing for Texas A&M. Due to that, I try to pay enough attention to them so that I can knock my Aggie friends down a few notches every year when they tell me in preseason how the football team is going to win the National Championship, be relevant, and invent cold fusion.
I would normally welcome the opportunity to play them and show them how a real football team looks. However, this year is different, and this might be the only team I wanted to play less than even Alabama. Like teenagers to My Chemical Romance, A&M scares the living shit out of me. It took them a good chunk of the season to get into rhythm with a new offense, but now that they have, it pains me to say that they are currently one of the best 2-3 teams in the country. I believe in Greg Mattison, but that offense is frightening. “Johnny Football” gets a lot of credit, but Kliff Kingsbury appears to have the makings of an awesome offensive coach. He coaches with a ton of passion and has had terrific results at both Houston and A&M (although it has to pain Aggies to have a Red Raider coaching their offense). Our defense is going to have their hands full, and if Borges can’t figure out how to best utilize the Denardevin offense then it could get ugly.
Add actual football to an Aggie fan base that will travel extremely well (and still revels in beating us in the ’95 Alamo Bowl) and a Michigan fan base that already traveled to its bowl game (Dallas... I know, I know, thanks Dave Brandon), and it could feel like a home game for A&M. Not to be entirely negative about this match-up, but there are a lot of teams I would have rather played.

|1 year 15 weeks ago||But I'm too dumb for that||
No! They can't be in the Leaders division! The only way I can remember who is in our division is by remembering that it's all the teams that start with "M", "N", and Iowa. I'm not smart enough to remember that it's all teams that start with "M" - except for Maryland, "N", and Iowa. Damn it Delany! First you give them dumb names and now you make it more difficult to remember.

Any chance this kid is a psych major? He could turn this in as a class assignment as long as there is a 5000 word requirement.

He's dunking his head in a bucket of piss for $450, and you think he has a girlfriend?
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Computers??||
The real question is not how we aren't ranked (face it, we are 4-2 without a good win), but how do 2 computers actually have ND as the top team in the country? I hate using common opponents, but Alabama made us look like a high school team. Notre Dame needed every one of our turnovers (not all caused by their defense) to beat us. How can this even be possible? I know the BCS is a joke, but that's awful.

If people want to support the charity then they can buy the Pahokee shirt (or donate directly). If they are just interested in the design of the MGoStore shirt then they can buy that one. Personally, I don't like the design of the Pahokee shirt, so I wouldn't consider buying it. However, I like the MGoStore design and might buy it. I'm an adult and can make my own decision. Hopefully others can too, so unless that saying is trademarked by Hope for Pahokee, then I don't know why this is such a big deal.
