Sign stealing has now hit college hoops

Looks like Kst is accusing Iowa St of stealing their signs. Kst alleges ISU had people sitting behind their bench texting info to coaches.

Had no clue about this until just now as Chris Childers was talking about it on his radio show on SiriusXM 84.

Surprised this has not gotten more attention given what happened at UM. Ridiculous nonetheless.

Did K State hire a PI firm to investigate Iowa State? Did someone at Iowa State build a vast network of third parties to text the info along? Is there a vacuum clearing business involved somehow?

I also only just saw this last night, then realized the story broke on Thursday.

I am also really surprised it isn't getting more attention, but I guess no one cares about Iowa State and Kansas State. And also it's not coming from the NCAA or the Big 12, and there are no private investigators involved.

Yes of course they run sets and plays, but I just haven't noticed the "signs" for those before. If they are coming off the bench or off a time-out then there wouldn't be a "sign". Skeptical that "stealing signs" in basketball is any real competitive advantage. But I feel that way about football too, so I'm probably biased.

The Big 12 commissioner should step in right away before any investigation is complete and suspend the ISU head coach.  Of course that won't happen because that would be beyond ridiculous.

Nobody in the media will mention it, but this should put into perspective just how obnoxious the whole situation with Michigan was.  This is why it was Michigan v. Everybody.  The things that were said and done to this program were so unprecedented and so out of line it is laughable.

Agreed.

Also, I was thinking recently that if there was any validity to the sign stealing crap there is no way Jim gets an NFL job. Do people really believe an NFL franchise would hire a coach that benefited from on field cheating? I guess someone could bring up the patriot’s but it’s not the same.

Agreed, its pretty incredible that as time passes we get more evidence suggesting this whole thing was an absolute joke.  Mike MacDonald is going to get an NFL head coaching job either this year or the next.  So, what changed in 2021?  Was it Conner Stallions or was it the fact that we had a future NFL head coach calling our defense followed by another guy that will likely be an NFL head coach in the near future?

K-State coaches were clearly irritated when they began to worry that they were being spied upon. Chris Williams, who covers Iowa State for the web site Cyclone Fanatic, reported that during one late timeout Tang’s staff took a look at ISU’s managers and referred to them as “cheating (expletives).” The ESPN cameras also caught Tang appearing to tell lead official Gerry Pollard during the game’s penultimate media timeout that Iowa State had people “filming our huddle.” His concerns didn’t amount to anything, though. The game continued and the Cyclones pulled away for a double-digit win.

It's ok if in person during games and not advanced. Only a very narrow window of behavior violates competitive fairness in the NCAA. It fluctuates but stays narrow.

Probably because no one really cares about Iowa State and Iowa State doesn't have an archrival who is undergoing an existential crisis because they're better than said rival at basketball

It's happening at other Big 12 basketball schools too. I was watching the TCU-Baylor game this weekend & noticed these young guys in Baylor gear sitting behind the TCU bench during a timeout when the TV cameras zoomed in. And the Baylor guys were intently focused on the players/staff until the camera cut away. Pay attention next time you're watching Big 12 games.
