the silliness of the premise of the article aside, the Taubman reference is disturbingly true. As Ken (Enron) Skilling is proving at this very moment, money can apparently cure many venal if not mortal sins. |

but really, for someone who has barely commented before, you have chosen this issue to get all bothered about? If you don't get that it is over-the-top negative, and more attuned to other sites, then you need to reassess and chill. Let the glass be half- full and wish Timmy the best. And we will miss him. [I won't hold my breath that, if Tim does make it in the NBA, you will return and mea culpa?] |
| 4 weeks 6 days ago | you have grossly understated |
Tim's draft projection (and prospects). He is anywhere from a low first round to a mid second--though with the number declaring his projection won't likely improve. But that is what the camps are for--though it would be nice if players could still go to the camps and then withdraw from the draft. Tim would have projected mid-second round if he left last year--so he didn't really improve his position by staying this year. Who is to say he will improve it by staying another year--or that he won't improve more in a professional environment? Unlike high school kids who may be relying on questionable advisers, Tim's are as good as you can get. Tim is certainly no sure thing, but he's earned the opportunity, and he has given us 3 great years (effort, even if you question his consistency). The complaints with your opinion are that you present so certain, so negative and so personal.

how others acted when we were down? Do we really care how OSU and MSU fans behave and, if so, we are no better. Pretty low bar. It strikes me that some here like basketball/sports less than the esteem they believe they get from winning programs. I'll take the joy of a fun team and great games over getting payback every time. |
| 6 weeks 2 hours ago | is that really our goal? |
to play depleted rosters? Just as I want OSU to be good and even undefeated when we play them in football, so when we kick their ass it will be just that much sweeter--I want the Big Ten strong in basketball so I can continue to watch great games and, of course, the joy of kicking ass. |
| 6 weeks 3 hours ago | No Caris was on him |
Though on the 3rd one, it was Tim off a switch (I think). On the first one (can't really fault him), Caris got confused on the screen. The other two, particularly the last (4th) one, he just gave him too much room. |

the one thing you can't say is that Chris trumpeted their/his past---that's sorta the point for some--he's been silent. And, but for a perfectly appropriate tweet, he was silent and virtually unseen last night. sorry--I think its my first double-post. |

the only CBB team I can think of that lost the championship game with as much class as this group was Butler in 2010---and that's a damned compliment. |

| 6 weeks 2 days ago | I'm with ya |
I'd hate to make Denard, Charles, Desmond and Zach go home cuz they are drawing attention away from the team, see, posts and many references to their attendance. There are too many bitter ex-girlfriends below for my taste. I say let everyone come and let there be a party come midnight. |
| 6 weeks 3 days ago | in answer to your question |
NO |
| 6 weeks 3 days ago | we just got to play better than them |
We have established that we can win without hitting on all cylinders--Big 3 shooters 5 for 29 agin Cuse. We have now beaten (at least) 3 different types of defenses that were supposed to shut us down. Anyone watching the Wichita State game yesterday knows Louisville can be beaten and has its own share of limitations. If Louisville plays great, we just got to play "greater"---if we play poorly, we just got to make them play worse. One game---however, it gets done. And the fact that Trey didn't do anything special last night just makes me more optimistic that he will tomorrow. |
| 6 weeks 4 days ago | what? |
Anderson wasn't on the 2010 Kzoo team that beat AA Huron in the finals---Brian Oliver (Dayton) was the star. Anderson graduated the year before--and lost to Pershing in the finals and didn't play Huron. Not sure who you saw dunking or who you (Huron) were chanting at? |

I too was there and unlike most big games in my life, a little part of it has stayed with me longer than the others and longer than it should. Travel, sure--but calls are missed all the time. I'd love to be rationalizing our win with Tarheel fans. Time out--I have never thought of them the same since. Yea, I know it was mentioned during the last real time out, but obviously not loud or clear enough. Rather than pretending to contribute during the huddle, the 4th assistant (Jay Smith) and/or the grad assistant(s) should have been walking around saying it over and over. [I've watched the tape many times--they didn't]. When I've coached, I made the team say it back to me outloud. Was Chris responsible for his own mistake? Of course, but it was a team mistake as well; Chris has borne too large a share---and I'm not sure he's over it yet or that it doesn't play a part in his complicated relationship with the U. And Pelinka was wide open under the basket. On a happier note, the win over Kentucky and Pitino was sweet. |
| 6 weeks 5 days ago | yea, but it is weak |
and every draft service says so. When Mclemore and Noel (even with his injury and lack of scoring ability) are typically 1 and 2, the draft is weak. There isn't a single player certain to start as a rookie. And yes, outside of Davis and a surprising Lillard, last year's draft was also comparatively weak. It's not like Timmy would be a lottery pick if he came back. |
| 6 weeks 5 days ago | just worth repeating |
I think Timmy has a pretty good field of people to give him advice--his father, his father's multitude of contacts in the NBA and John Beilein to name a few. I suspect they are in a tad better position to assess his prospects than you or anyone here. And Tim's self interests don't necessarily mesh with ours. It's not clear that Tim's stock will improve with another year in college--he may, in fact, improve more just being on an NBA roster--and this is a very weak draft. He's probably a high 2nd rounder, who could sneak into the 1st with good camps. I too would love him to stay--what a great kid--but he owes us nothing, and I will respect the decision he makes. |
| 6 weeks 6 days ago | all the facts? since when? |
There are precious few subjects on this or any blog site where anyone has "all the facts". Geezus, at best we're sports fans. That hasn't stopped us in the past and won't in the future from opining based upon the facts that are known at the time---and, based upon your mgopoints, I'd suggest it applies as well to you. |
| 6 weeks 6 days ago | that ship sailed long ago |
New bb facilities, stadium renovations etc etc didn't occur because college sports--okay, football &basketball--are still a means to an end--if you mean a degree. Now if you mean, an income flow, that'd be a different story. |
| 6 weeks 6 days ago | one interview convinces you? |
Unless you have some other source, it seems you are taking the AD's explanation---trying to rehabilitate him--as gospel. It may be true; but given time and motive, his explanation is at least as likely self-serving spin. If he truly believed his rehabilitation plan was appropriate and working (if it was I assume he would have said so), then he should stand by Rice now. Since he isn't, then I'd suggest the decision to fire occurred only because the video came to light and/or to protect himself. Also, while we don't know all the facts, the decision to fire the "whistleblower" Eric Murdock doesn't help his cause. |

| 7 weeks 22 hours ago | well-reasoned |
Love this team, but there isn't a 1992 Duke, or 1993 UNC or Kentucky team in this Final Four. |

now we're stuck with pompous Kellogg and, even worse, Michigan hater and all-around prig, Jim Nantz. |
| 7 weeks 2 days ago | retreads |
Sometimes retreads work out well--Bruce Webber at KSU being the most obvious/recent example. Lavin at St. John's may as well. It would also be true for the suddenly "rehabilitated" Tommy Amaker (don't include me, please). Tubby was himself a retread. Ben Howland has a proven record and will end up somewhere very soon. That said, I too would look mid-major and younger if possible: Williams at Marquette (not sure Minny is an upgrade), McDermott at Creighton (contingent on Doug leaving for the NBA, and unlike Hoiberg, he wouldn't be leaving his alma mater), Steve Nagy at South Dakota State. All three are familiar with and recruit the Minny area already. My darkhorse would be Cuonzo Martin--highly thought of, has done solid job rehabbing UTenn, and may want back in the Big Ten (and Painter ain't going anywhere). |
